Sorry but I believe that the purpose of this forum is to share information among us and help each other   :)
Clearly, the existance of a new microstock site is not a "confidential information" and, as far as I know, applications are open to everybody. Then, it's their business to decide what is worth to be accepted.

What do you think?

Yap and I'd wish you would have kept it private for a while like all other people did here.  ;D

Well said, when I got my email I was impressed that it was personally written and as a result I've uploaded there.

It would seem now that anybody can contribute, I just hope they maintain the site on a professional level, they've started out well and have a good marketing strategy and background.

For anybody that has joined as a result of seeing this thread I implore you to maintain a level of professionalism on this site, don't turn the forum into something like LO or FP which now come over as sites for amateur snappers, that will kill Yaymicro and we'll all lose out on any potential sales.

You've misread what I've said, I am referring to the forum on Yaymicro being kept at a professional level not this forum.

I think a place like here is ideal for anybody to ask questions no matter what level of contributor you are, however what sort of impression do you think a potential buyer will get if they look into the forum at LO, it's a joke and makes the site look low class.

There's good reasons why SS, iS and a lot of traditional sites are as succesful as they are, it's because they keep the 'coffee morning' chat private from the buyers, iS go about it in a different way than the others but it works and buyers get the impression of professionalism.

I wonder if they will get 200,000 images without paying us?  There needs to be some incentive for me to upload my portfolio.

To me, it's much more important that they use the money to develop and market their site. I'm uploading my portfolio now. It's very fast, very smooth and review-times can be measured in seconds at the moment.

Compare that to a few other recent startups...

But obviously, only time will show. On the other hand, if nobody upload their best photos, we'll never know the potential.

Perhaps I was unclear in this. I just wanted to wait till they have a referral program in place. It's easy money and it benefits us all. I never join a new site any more without a referral code of some members here.

When I started uploading in the very beginning, there were glitches in the FTP (non UTF-8 in the filenames) and the IPTC import (they imported the wrong field as title) and we managed to iron them all out in the forum recently. I had to copypaste all the titles of the first 200 uploaded, and their programmer had to tweak my FTP file names manually.

Just wanted to avoid a lot of lost time for contributors here. All works fine now. It's nothing personal at all Diego, at the contrary. For more than a year, you are 1 of my fav photogs on DT ;-)

Linda posted on the YAY forum yesterday that it will be next week. A bummer for me since I'm flying from sunday morning till tuesday afternoon with long waits in London, one of the Gulf States, Bangkok and Taipei. I finally got WIFI but not sure how "free" WIFI is on exotic airports.

Incidentally, I made a lot of good selling stock during waits at airports In my top 16 at the moment on SS, there are 4 shots made on airports last December. It fights the boredom too.

thank you so much, Phil....

Just tried it- uploading is fast and easy! Wish every new site would be like this...

I signed up because they seem interested in editorial shots, which most of the sites I'm on don't seem to deal in.  I have concert pix and NYC (outdoor) event shots that I'd like to get out there more. Now I just have to get organized... smiles - Ann

I signed up and threw on some of my more traditional best-sellers from other sites.  It'll be interesting to see where it goes.

What I love about YayMicro is that they accept DVD submissions.
With a portfolio of over a thousand pics and bandwidth at ridiculous prices in South Africa, it becomes * expensive for me to join a new site and get all my images online. Way cheaper through the post.

I do like their upload process. Uploaded a couple to test the process. Real easy. And after my DVD has been submitted and they start making me money, I'll be a regular contributor there.

And if somebody feels like spreading the love, here's my referral link:

Yeah, the name surely does sound a bit eccentric, but after all what does "google" mean? Once a company is successful, people get used to most unusual names.

One thing is certain, these guys know how to build a slick and superfast website, with probably the best upload process in the industry. We will see if it remains so smooth as the database grows.

What's more they pay in a real-world currency and the royalty structure is very decent.
Usually I don't contribute to low performing sites or startups, but I decided to give YAY a chance. Let's hope they will be successful in reaching buyers.

Just signed up yesterday. Just wish that the existing sites were this fast not only the new ones! :D

I quite agree with you Tom. Their slick and efficient interface has put all the established micros to shame, including those with deep pockets.

I hope they do well and become a major player. It might be the wake up call the others need, however, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, they still have to find buyers and convince them that they are the place to buy images from, despite the higher price.

I agree 100% with the above.  Yay has a very nice look, it's easy to upload to, they don't bombard you with useless legal crap to check and read and they truly seem to have a very positive attitude.  I could only hope that Yay sores to the top.  I'll say this, if the buyers like them as much as the photogs, it's going to be a winner.  I for one LOVE it so far!

Has anyone had any sales at Yay?
