Just got a message from Dreamstime about one of my images saying it hadn't been sold in 4 years. Options are send it to the free section, rekeyword for 60c or disable.

Is this something new or has it been around for ages ?

Its a fair move to keep the size of the collection managable and I'd prefer this scheme than making it impossible to get new stuff accepted.

Been around a while.  I have had a bunch.  I tell them to delete then I optimize keywords and reup.

That would be a fair trade off, but they haven't made it any easier to get new stuff accepted.

That's a good idea! My older ones could use some sprucing up, they've changed a lot of their acceptance criteria and I've learned a lot since 4 years ago. I might try to rehab them and re-up.

My portfolio is going to end up quite small there.  I'm not uploading anything new because they are rejecting too much.  I have a lot of images that haven't sold after 4 years, some of them do quite well on other sites.

I have been a contributor for a while and get these emails daily. My approach is to disable old images. I am not convinced the free section provides any good publicity. Also I do not resubmit these photos and invest my time and effort in submitting new content. I think all agencies should start removing old content and the cutoff should probably be 2 yrs, not 4. This is to avoid monstrous 10- 20 mill portfolios that confuse buyers.

I'm really curious how someone who's "IS dial" is pointing to the north east can have a problem with image acceptance on any other site?

out of 501 images I have on DT, only 43 never had a sale and about 30 of them are newer than 1 year..

So it is very unlikely that I will have images that never sold for 4 years..

If you were serious, why would someone pay to have a file for sale, which has never sold in four years and will need two sales to get back the money for having it extended. No guarantee that they won't change the rules to 2 years or 1 year, in 2012 either?

I suppose if the files have sales somewhere else, that might be an indication, but if it's a non-seller, why not just clear it out and admit it's a loser?
