Every time sites raise their prices, I seem to get an earnings boost with SS :)  Price increases have such a high correlation with lower commissions and flat or lower earnings in recent years, I'm not going to get excited until we're told the full details.

It does seem so. It appears to me that buyers prefer simple pricing structures that they can easily budget for. How complex or bizarre can DT's latest effort be if they can't even reveal it to their contributors?

Indeed. Or how manipulative ;)

<sigh> Yes, probably. DT have surely been at the game for long enough now and should have more than enough data to have identified the 'sweet spot' for pricing. They shouldn't need to be playing these 'smoke and mirrors' games. It won't help them in the longer term.

4 days without a sale, never seen this before (having around 70 per month)

Only 1 in April so far (unusual even for me).  This was a level 2 sale on a level 1 image which I thought was a bug but possibly something to do with the changes. No benefit though as it was one of those discounted referral subs  :-\

I had a pretty good day of sales yesterday (Monday) considering it was the day after Easter.  Actually pretty normal for a recent Monday.  Hard for me to notice big differences from the pricing change, since prices are typically all over the map.  All the pics sold yesterday appear to be level 2 thru 5.  Maybe my 1s became 2s?  Hard to tell.  I don't really track that.  Can you tell by number of sales?  For instance, one of my 2s has had 4 downloads.  Would that have been a level 1 before the change?  I'm not sure what is going on.

Yes.

I've had no sales there this week so haven't seen any effect of the altered pricing.  Last week it was normal subs sales and a few credit sales - hopefully it will pick up.

Just had my first sale since March 28th.  15 credit image sale for $6.72.  It's a level 4 image (used to be level 3).

From the responses to this thread, it sounds like licenses through subscriptions are going down in price but individual image credit sales are going up?  Interesting strategy.

I'm anxious to hear the official announcement.

My recent sub sales have all been at the usual prices.  Maybe some people have just had some comissions from partners and are assuming that it is the new pricing

Yeah - subs will only change for level 2 images  and whatever the next one is (I guess) - that would be nice :)

I had a level 1 medium sale yesterday: $1.84 and another level 1 medium today: $2.63
Looks like we are going up... :)

But the amounts we see for sub sales is remaining the same, right?  I'm seeing a bunch of .35, .70 and 1.05 sub commissions today.

EDIT:  OK, just noticed that I haven't seen a .35 commission in a few days... the subs have all been .70 and 1.05... so the .35s have been elevated to .70 due to the level step up.  That's certainly a welcome change!!!

I interpreted Achilles' post to mean that "some people's portfolios" might be affected; as if they would select only a few for the testing.  Some may be totally unaffected during test period???

I'm getting sales, but it's just very, very slow (as someone who returned to independence last June, most of my portfolio is "new" and thus hurt by best seller default search). Two so far today, three yesterday - more like a slow weekend.

If DT will increase the prices even more.... than this measure will be the tombstone for this agency. I hope they see the market direction and eliminate that lvl system, or reduce him to 2 max. 3 lvl. Fewer and fewer wants to pay 7, 9 or 11 credits for a EXTRA SMALL image. The majority will just migrate elsewhere (that why FT is above DT at this moment).

I got .28 for subs in the past, but mostly they have been the standard lately, (and some were at higher levels than their sales suggest).

I have gotten as low as about .18 per credit, generally anything under .25 makes me angry.

I did notice the one EL I got since this latest bit of odd pricing was at the lower end of the payment scale (and level 1). (although now I see that it was the first sale so previously it would have been lvl 0 - so I suppose I should be glad).

I wish that the sites were a lot more transparent about what was paid for the image as well as what we get and why when there is some oddity.

No sales there since April 7th.  Before that it was a good month...

None of my files that sold climbed up in levels, it seems only the bad news some of you expected came true; I got payed less than ever for a level 0 XS DL:

1 credit (2010)   $0.18   extrasmall

And here is at least one reason why it could happen.

Interestingly enough, when I am logged in, DT for my port still shows the same old levels, while after logging out and deleting their cookies, my images goes up by one level when browsed...

Even more interestingly, it is reflected in my earnings as well. On April 10, when the level mess was already up and running, two images were reported as sold in accordance with the old levels scheme (namely, as a level 2 and 3 sales), while for buyers, they were already available (and apparently bought) as a level 3 and 4 purchases respectively...

Well done, DT! Really well done!...  >:(

I tried a search for an image that recently sold as level 5 (previously level 4) and for my search it came up as a level 4, I tried w/ a different browser - no DT cookies- and it came up much higher in the search and was also listed as a level 4. I suspect that they are messing around w/ different levels for certain regions or buyers or alternating days or something. I'd be pretty annoyed if I was a buyer.

I sure do wish there was more transparency though - for instance are the commission %s changing with the changing levels? (it certainly appears the number of credits needed are).

ah - I see the different search order was because the default is most dl but on my logged in acct. it was set to most relevant. (so I suppose they have that search fixed).

I've finally benefited from the new pricing. Got a first time sale for a file as a level 1, max res 10 cr. Pretty cool :)

I've had two credit sales and a subscription sale since the change.  I'm very happy.  The subscription sale was the usual price.  The credit sales were higher.

Very pleased  ;D
