Watched a Youtube video earlier from one of the contributors on here (Microstock Life). He suggested that having images in your portfolio that are very similar to each other is (sometimes) not a great thing. That being the case, I am tempted to delete maybe 10 of them and keep the rest.

Question is, if they haven't sold whatsoever, can it still do harm to my account or does it not really matter to the rest of the account?

So what your suggesting is, perhaps keep them where they are but, it's fine if I try and sell them through other avenues whilst I still retain them on the Adobestock platform just in case others gain traction-Am I correct?

I don't think having content in your portfolio that is similar to other assets is beneficial but if it's online, I can't think of a benefit to deleting it either. Most likely, all but one of the files are going to be embedded deeper into your search results so they will not likely be seen. You could find some one-off sales however.

To answer your question directly, no there is not a negative impact to deleting files other than the fact it would be impossible to sell a license for them if you remove them from your portfolio.

What about 'series' shots?

When I look at some of the higher priced midstock agencies, I see a lot of series shots from who they call 'top photographers in their field'. In fact, right now there are 12 shots from the same photographer/shoot/background when I search on 'christmas cookies'.

I am not complaining about it, in fact it looks like some buyers actually want several shots from the same shoot. I have found also within my own microstock port, that I often sell multiple shots from the same series.

Of course you have to be selective about what you put up, and its not just move the spoon 1/2 inch to the left.

Or maybe its different on crowded microstock search pages now - too much competition and only one shot will rise to the top of search.

I have very often uploaded several images from a series (both photos and AI images), as long as they are different enough.
And it also happens from time to time that 3 or 4 images from a series sell in one go, so in my experience a series that is not too long can't do any harm.

I could imagine a possible negative point if you have 2 similar photos and they are both bought a little instead of just 1 photo with significantly more sales, then you have 2 mediocrely placed photos instead of a top seller.

But these are all just guesses - you probably can't really know with a system of this size of sellers and images.

But I wouldn't delete existing pictures - as Mat already wrote, then they can't sell any more.

A small amount of deletion is okay, such as correcting errors and repeated uploads, but when your deletions reach a certain proportion or quantity, your account will be officially suspended or deleted. I have seen the official webpage about deleting assets before. , but I didn’t save it. I’m talking about its general meaning. You can check it out in the official FQA.
