I thought I would start a new thread as its no longer a case of istock vs Shutterstock
(24th July) [17th July]

1 Fotolia               1,013,804 (977,382)  [944,904] increase 36,422
2 istock                 956,000 (940,763)  [926,538] increase 15,237
3 Shutterstock       923,690 (906,228) [891,452] increase 17,462

4 Dreamstime         520,000* (510,000) [490,000+] increase 10,000 *27th July
5 Big Stock Photo   430,000 (424,000) [417,000] increase 6,000

6 123 rf                300,000+
7 Can Stock Photo  242,798 (240,520) [236,056] increase 2,278

8 Stockxpert          170,000?

9 Stockphotomedia  68,875 (67,325) [66,235]  increase 1,550
10 Featurepics        47,253 (43,962) increase 3,291
11 Gimmestock       46,260 (45,835) increase 425

Yes in a week Featurepics have overtaken Gimmestock and have a bigger increase than Can Stock.

FT at that rate of growth they could break 2 million in 6 months

Anyone tried to delete their account at Gimmestock??

Not yet, but I may in some months if it remains so bad.  The same goes for other sites such as Microstock, Area Image, Scandinavian Stock and SPM.

Well its Monday the start of a new week so how are those microstock companies doing?

1 Fotolia 1,048,546 {1,013,804} (977,382) inc 34,742
2 istock 970,255 {956,000} (940,763) increase 14,255
3 Shutterstock 940,323 {923,690} (906,228) increase 16,633

9 Stockphotomedia 69,765 {68,875} (67,325) increase 890
10 Featurepics 49,802 {47,253} (43,962) increase 2,549
11 Gimmestock 46,691 {46,260} (45,835) increase 431

So FT still double the number of new images of iStock + SS

The start of another week looks like everyone is uploading their holiday snaps

1 Fotolia              1,085,190 [1,048,546] {1,013,804}   inc 36,644
2 istock                 988,501 [970,255] {956,000}   increase 18,246
3 Shutterstock       958,473 [940,323] {923,690}  increase 18,150

4 Dreamstime         550,000* [530,000#] {520,000} incr 20,000 *11th August #1st August
5 Big Stock Photo   446,000 [438,000] {430,000} increase 8,000

6 123 rf                300,000+
7 Can Stock Photo  248,429 [244,776] {242,798}   increase 3,653

8 Stockxpert          170,000?

9 Stockphotomedia  70,452 69,765 {68,875}  increase 687
10 Featurepics        52,037 49,802 {47,253}  increase 2235
11 Gimmestock       46,784 46,691 {46,260}  increase 93

Who is still uploading to Gimmestock can't be many though there is queue of 400 FT increases by 78% of their whole portfolio every week. I think for small sites its best not to post image numbers.

So maybe on Friday we shall the millionth image/(exclusive illustration) at iStock

I had a high rejection ratio in teh last batch at DT.  Are they getting picky now?  Accepted at most other sites so maybe they aren't playing the numbers game.

SS is catching istock slowly and FT continues to power away (depending on if you beleive their numbers - see other thread).

Leaf can you remind me where the other posts comparing number of images is hidden - wasn't there a search option here once?

FT 1,306,484
iS 1,076,000
SS 1,054,242
DT 620,000
BigStock 528,000
123 400,000+
CanStockPhoto 262,081
StockXpert 170,000+ ??
FP 79,169
SPM 75,122

So 123 finally register an increase they were stuck at 300,000 for months

Well I am away on business again in Calgary at the moment so thats why there is a late posting numbers in brackets are from 18th september
FT 1,353,879 (1,264,747)
iS  1,089,000 (1,055,075)
SS 1,076,738 (1,032,613)

DT   630,000 (610,000)
BS    549,000 (509,000)
123  400,000
CanStockPhoto  267,053 (264,470)
StockXpert 170,000 ??

SPM   75,506 (73,091)
FP     85,273 (72,995)

Not surprized at the big increase at BigStock they seem to have a very high acceptance rate at the moment.

Featurepics' big increase may be an artefact as the count may include adult images as I am using a different computer.

FYI: StockXpert is well over 210,000.  Not sure why you keep putting them back to 170,000.

BigStock recently recruited some 'temp' approvers to get through the Q hence the big jump in numbers

The latest image count from Seattle.

Sorry to all StockXpert fans for undercounting their image base where are you getting this figure from? their newsletter? how do I subscribe?

FT 1,403,576 [1,353,879] (1,264,747)
iS  1,113,000 [1,089,000] (1,055,075)
SS 1,092,000 [1,076,738] (1,032,613)

DT   650,000 [630,000] (610,000)
BS    567,000 [549,000] (509,000)
123  400,000+
CanStockPhoto  276,377 [267,053] (264,470)
StockXpert 210,000+

FP     90,073 [ 85,273] (72,995)
SPM   77,168 [75,506] (73,091)

FP have slowed down a bit closing on on 100,000

BigStock still growing fast probably due to their temp reviewers being not fussy at all.

CanStockPhoto supposedly only a 7 day queue better than a 17 day

Yes my guide does need updating its on the list for the next rainy day

Sorry to all StockXpert fans for undercounting their image base where are you getting this figure from? their newsletter? how do I subscribe?

The StockXpert newsletter just came out and says that they have over 270,000 images.  It looks like they are about to overtake CanStockPhoto shortly.

You can subscribe to the StockXpert newsletter by going to your account and editing your profile.

iS  1,130,033 {1,113,000} [1,089,000] (1,055,075)
SS 1,109,124 {1,092,000} [1,076,738] (1,032,613)

DT   670,000 {650,000} [630,000] (610,000)
BS    582,000 {567,000} [549,000] (509,000)

SPM   77,994 {77,168} [75,506] (73,091)

SPM starting to plateau most people must have given up on the swedes by now.

Yep StockXpert closing fast on CanStockPhoto though the latter have reduced their queue.

Thanks I will subscribe to this StockXpert newsletter to keep myself up todate

I think that a disclaimer should be added to the Fotolia #s.

It seems pretty obvious that they don't have as many images online as they claim. The true # of images is probably somewhere around 60-70% of their claim (I base this % on their approximate overall acceptance rate).

I suspect FT are including their free images maybe why they didn't make that big a fuss about reached 1,000,000 - no prizes.

I suspect FT are including their free images maybe why they didn't make that big a fuss about reached 1,000,000 - no prizes.

That is precisely why I think that there should be a disclaimer.  If you added free images to Stockxpert, then they would have over 500,000 images, and jump two positions (on your chart) ending up in 6th place.

I personally think that they are just displaying the # of images that have been submitted, because the # of images that they claim (1,453,900) is very close to the highest image # that has been accepted (1,448,884).

But however they calculate their #, it is obvious that is not the true amount of images for sale on their website.
