Right. According to their rankings, D800 has the greatest sensor ever made, outperforming even the mighty PhaseOne IQ 180. Gimme a break...

Both cams are crappy, cheap new models of nothings.

I thought DxO was very reputable.  There were a lot of statistics in the report.  Hard to know who to believe when we have so many experts in our own forum.   ::) :P

Fine with me, Nikon now has King of The Hill for X months or weeks. Looks like a nice camera. Looks like stats wise and all that pixel peeping, it's a winner.

Hey wait, I have all Canon lenses and equipment. I don't care!  :o

I'm not changing brands because of some reviews, even if they are 100% factual and correct. In a couple of months Canon will come out with something new and better and then, will I need to shoot all the Nikon gear out the back door and buy Canon again. Do I need to buy every latest model that comes along, just because it's better and newer?

Nice going Nikon, Great product and I bet it makes nice photos.

36MP - where's the end? Don't people claim we're already past the resolution of the lenses we have and lens technology. I guess not according to the scientific data, this one's a winner!

this time Nikon outclassed Canon.
D800, D4, and soon the D400, wait and see !

sorry but Canon has nothing else in store i'm afraid, the MK3 and the 1Dx are already out and slightly inferior to Nikon in almost any field.
not that they could care much as Canon makes more money with compact cameras, scanners, printers, and camcorders... DSLRs are just one of their many business units.

Hi!  no what I meant was:  its a pretty poor update from Canon, I have used the MIII, for a day and frankly apart from better AF ( which I dont need), it gave me nothing, exept 1 MP, big deal?

As far as the D800?  yes, more MP, even so, its not going to give me much extras on top of my D3X.

The MP, race is over, once you are around 20MP, youre in on MF quality, so thats a hypothetical question, really.

So because it doesn't meet your needs its crappy. With such sound judgement you should get a job as an impartial reviewer.

I see, basically in my case I have a D90 which I believe it is enough for stock but on the other hand I keep thinking that I should aim to the 21MP at least and also the ISO performance at a full frame sensor, D3X/D4 are way more expensive than the D800, so I believe sooner or later will get one, have already the 24-70 which was purchased thinking of that too

hopefully the D400 will have 24MP and a decent high-iso performance.

however, for stock i agree even a D90 can be more than OK, and actually the biggest limitation is in the lenses in my opinion as some zooms have seriously too many compromises to deal with and the best primes are * expensive and bulky.

I have been a Canon shooter since 2005, but this is the first time I really wish I had a Nikon. Of course I'm not going to change sides now, I have too much invested in Canon gear, I just wish Canon would come up with a serious challenger to D800. This must be how Nikon shooters felt when 5D came out back in 2005.

One thing is for certain: Canon needs to drop the 5D III price with $1000.

You are right. I had my D300 and 24-70 in the box ready for selling back 2 times, but I finally never did it because it was to much expensive for the incomes I would get in return.

As for the 5DIII and D800 comparison, I always used this website to compare identical images of 2 different camera using 2 similar lens, between each other.

please tell me no girls have been sucked into this "mine is bigger better than yours" debate? get over yourselves. If you overheard two ppl (of either gender, just to be fair) discussing Mercedes V BMW like this wouldn't you dismiss them as tossers?

(yes, some like such a pasttime; thanks for sharing)
