Sorry if this is a silly question, but I have never done a shot with a model or property release yet.  I am thinking about doing them, but I am not sure how much work they will add.

If I take 100 photos of someone, do I need to send the release 100 times, or do you just send the release once and then have each photo "point" to it somehow?

I'm pretty sure it is site dependent.  I think Featurepics allows you to refer to a formerly submitted release, but some require a release with every shot, even in the same batch.

And I think all sites will accept releases from others, but check.  You shouldn't have to get the model to sign a release for every site you might ever submit to, nor should you have to track down the model if a new site comes on line.

Yes the model can just sign a 'universal' release. I have been using the istock release and everyone excepts it except dreamstime.  The istock release however doesn't have the words istock in any of the words so it is easy to just crop out the istock part of the release and then dreamstime is ok with it.

As per uploading the releases.  It totally depends on the site
Fotolia, Feature Pics, 123RF, and StockXpert all store the releases on file, and thus you just have to 'point' to it.

The other sites, like dreamstime, shutterstock, and istock and the rest you have to upload it seperatly for each site.  It isn't THAT much work as the release file is generally pretty small (as small as you can make it while keeping it legable).

And one more thing I forgot to mention.

I use the Istock release because they require the most info (email, ph number, addres...).  If you try and use a release from a different site, or one of your own that doesn't have the info istock wants.. they won't accept it.
