I mean financially, let's say for the first year and so on. And have you reached them? My first goal is earning 500$/month, second is 1k and if I ever reach it, as much as possible:D. It's gonna be 1 year since I started in a few weeks and I'm getting close to those 500$. Although I'm afraid earnings will split in half or oven more during the summer. I'm submitting to IS and SS. But I guess when you reach your goal, at least such a low one as 500$, you can't really drop significantly unless you start uploading. And I intend to at least stay at that 1 session per month on average or cca 400(SS)/300+(IS) per year. I want to increase the number of ULs, but don't wanna force myself into shooting what I don't like to shoot, neither am good at, just for the sake of it and having a bigger port. And I only shoot people (thankfully what sells best).

My goal is to make money, 500$ and 1,000$ are just round and nice numbers.
My goals are to hit the 30% and 35% marks on IS as soon as possible this year, to hit 40% mark next year, and to make over 2K per month on IS by the end of the year.
So far I am quite certain I will be meeting my goals.

My goal is the same as it was on day one, about 18 months ago-take the best possible images.  I need money but that is not the primary goal of my photography.

So from what I can tell, you're an exclusive. Since you're anonymous you can tell me what's your RC count. My is just 1616 (I'm waiting to be bumped to 16%, but they need to announce the 2011 RC targets first).

Wow that's incredible for someone starting in 2010. Ur an illustrator, right? I can't really imagine a photographer making it so fast (no matter how good he is, you need some time to figure out what buyers want), unless you became exclusive very fast and used all your slots every week

I've heard of that one, is he (aeonf) yet another? If so, I'd work with Yuri for a year for free and then climb up to 45% in a couple of years :D

Well to be more accurate my (our actually) account was open since 06 but with very little use, we went exclusive in 09 and really started contributing and being active march/april 2010.
Just to give you a perspective, in 2009 we made 232$
In 2010 we made 3,380$
In 2011 (so far) we made 3,660$

We contribute photos only for now.

Yuri isn't a good example of someone to aspire to his position simply because it is nearly impossible to reach. A better one is our dear Sean, when and IF I get to his numbers, I would be long retired...

Awesome numbers man, I'm glad to see ppl still can make it. From what you said, I figure you're not working alone? I guess that's a bit easier, even if you're the only one taking photographs, to have someone retouching or at least keywording your images. I'd definitely hire someone if I'd shoot more and of course earn more.

Not to rain on any parades, but I think Sean is also a bit out of reach as far as aspirations go.   He works his a$$ off, but he also has lots of talent and a style that is distinctive and incredibly popular.  Lots of folks seem to have tried copying it, but nobody(who isn't a factory) is likely to catch him.  :)

Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for him, not saying catching up is easy, but (maybe?) do-able.
And we are a factory :)
(a one man factory).

Sorry, not trying to throw a wet blanket.  I wish you great success!

Just don't want people to feel discouraged if they don't make it into the stratosphere with Sean.  Still lots of room for success down here among us mortals :D

Indeed, there is plenty of room at the bottom; someone is welcome to my place as I move up the ranks, slowly.

Maybe in a few years I will meet you there ;)

Yes indeed.  The older I get the more aware I am of my mortality...

As for Sean, his work certainly makes me very aware of the limits of my own abilities.

Congrats on IOTW!  I used to like it when that was on the landing page so I could see it right away.

I am with you Lisa; Florida is for Reptiles!  This heat is killing me; when I left Russia, it was a balmy -20 (trust me, compared to -50, -20 is shorts and t-shirt weather for me, at least for the first 30 minutes); when I landed in Tampa, it was 88 and that was 11 pm at night.

I always try to see the bright side; I have taken more photos in the past three weeks since landing in USA than my previous 6 months in Russia; and not because I was not making the effort-there is just not a lot to photograph when it is -50.  Once I was photographing a Raccoon Dog and I noticed after about 10 minutes he had not moved.  I slowly cozied up to him and he was frozen stiff, if guess if you don't keep moving at -50; you're dead.  Anybody know a good market for "frozen Raccoon Dog images".

it is incredible how can someone tell that some are close or not that hard to reach.. I wonder if they are opening a "Yuri" factory (which is not an easy thing to do, its not all about the investment and just checking sales..)

I really wonder how can some reaching 1k a month are "already" dreaming with Sean income.. wake up!! :P

Oh my goodness!  Frozen solid!   I can't even imagine being outside in anything below +20 F.

Florida does have some great wildlife to photograph, and none of it frozen ;)

My camera manual says it shouldn't be used below -10 C (14 F).

I never tried going much below. Besides batteries not lasting long, I guess condensation could be a problem at -50, always wondered how people manage to do in those conditions.

Condensation is a problem if you come inside with a cold camera; must put in a plastic bag and seal it tight for couple hours till it warms up to room temp.  Batteries are pretty easy to change out and keep next to body.

Lisa, I love the birds and the few mammals we have here in Florida; but I must admit my heart is in the tundra.  I wish my body had allowed me to stay but it started to fail and I had to leave.
