Hi!

I have been inactive with stock photography a few years and have some new photos im ready to upload. I just wanted to ask if there are any new sites worth uploading to compared to say 5-6 years ago. I sell at these sites, ranked in earnings. + Some trends on my sales, but everything is down overall.

Shutterstock
Deposit Photos (preforming surprisingly well on old uploads)
Adobe Stock (old Fotolia, will be interesting to see how uploads works now)
Dreamsteam
Getty, ESP or whatever they are called now (Old Istock, will be interesting to see how uploads works now there too)
Edit: forgot 123rf. Its getting pretty low though....
CanStockPhotos (Getting much lower earnings there now)
Big Stock (getting much lower earnings there too)

Maybe:
Stockfresh (hardly any downloads)
FineArtAmerica (Have a lot of Nature Photos there but can count my sales on one hand...)
Alamy (not much happening there but a few last year, so i will upload)

So any new sites that could be worth a try? I have been living under a rock so dont know much whats happend

Take a look at the poll results on the right. It tells the tale quite well.

Yes, it's that simple, the top four.

Go for Alamy, upload process is very simple and fast, effortless, and you can get a sale for many $$ with some luck. And if not, you will hardly have lost 5 minutes.

I like Alamy but I find the upload process is far from effortless.....whats your secret?

The poll to the right is not as detailed as it once was. I see numbers on the highest 6 sites. I get that the lower ones preform worse now than they did a few years ago, but they could still have a numbers? And the ones without a number, does the order of them really corresponds to the earnings?

Otherwise, regarding testing a new site. I have not gotten any response from that, i take it there is no new site other than the ones i alraedy submit to? The only one I get curius about, also looking at other threads, is EyeEm? How is your experience with getting sales from uploading to that site? Or do you have any other suggesions of a site that might be underestimated or so?

Very discussed, but the big ones are inside. Perhaps, there is a possibility that your sales system was not understood, by giving away images. Those who are inside, seem to classify it as the SS of years ago. Difficult access, hard exam, many rejections if it is classic, old, stale image.

They only work modernity and quality. If two identical images appear, they delete the two channels and then study accepted the non-thief. They are highly criticized in forums, and at the same time loved for their enormous speed, expansion, and the brutal traffic of their websites. I am not with them, but soon I will try to enter.

Spanish video

This photographer talks about the company's comments moving him away, instead, he is happy to have entered.

The photographer talks about not joining this agency, when reading in forums that were a scam.

He says that his surprise is brutal, and that the income compensates for the decrease in the income of other agencies.

This partner always speaks very clearly and honestly. His opinion is that he got carried away by the comments, but that his reality is totally different and he recommends it. I'm going to try, sure.

SS is still a power-horse. I sense great things are coming for AS. More of the rest for the others, which means very low expectations.

Alamy is unpredictable and can positively surprise.

I simply upload my files by ftp, I don't go to the web at all. I don't bother to put the supertags ...

Yes the order corresponds to the earnings, must have 50 votes to show in the pool results. Good time for me to do a year end review, even though it's year beginning? Good that you reminded me.

Hover over and agency name and it shows how many votes and the rating.

Self hosted gets 4 votes 12.5 rating and is more than all the sites below that. I think there's a message about the state and earnings of the rest of those sites, as most people, asked about self hosting, say it's really not very good. Then what's the opinion of sites below that?

Problem with Alamy, if someone wants to call that a problem, is this, I make $100 one month and nothing the next, maybe $60 the next, nothing, then $100 the next. So if the poll shows $50 a month, that could be true, because others also get the up and down variations. Depending on what kinds of images you have, Alamy can be good or nothing.

Bigstock, just for an example, 37 votes, 1.1 that's $5 a month. Formerly one of the better sites. GLstock 0 for 9 people, it's for sale. Canstock 36 votes, 1.7 or averaging $8.50 a month. If $10 a month is going to change your life, look at everything below PhotoCase with only 3 people voting, so small sample. What I mean is, the numbers are probably more valid if more people are members and voting, than if only 2 or 3 people take the poll.

Might be a beginning of the month error involved? But I thought that the votes didn't reset that fast?

@OP: just in case you don't know, although you can sell stills via Pond5, it's really a video sales place, and the news here on msg is that stills don't sell well via Pond5. (Because I don't think you mentioned that you do video work).

Hello,
Any experience with EyeEm and 500px? Time ago I discarded them because of lack of watermark, EyeEm did not read IPTC and I think something with exclusivity when sent to Getty... I see 500px still has no watermark. So...
Do those sites read IPTC?
In what case do they require exclusivity?
Do they accept editorial?
Thank you in advance!

It has (can have if your choice).

I had the same questions... to get answers, I tried myself. The best way to get the best answers, believe me.

Try eyeem and 2020 for photos and maybe BB for videos (exclusive distributor that takes 15%)

Thanks for your replies!

Im considering adding EyeEm to my upload routine.

I saw that EyeEm is partnered with getty images, and I saw that the photos uploaded there have a chance of getting sold on getty too. But I already sell some at Getty and Im planning to upload my old files to EyEm too! I dont want EyeEm to send them my files and them getty approves and there will be duplicates, witch might lead to some troubles? How will this work? Should I avoid uploading my older stuff(best) there for this reason?

Somebody here from Getty or EyeEm that can clarify this for me? (Help me tag someone if you know the right user)

Recent sales at 500px almost all 4 cents a time. Via Getty.

Content directly with Getty is exclusive anyway, you cannot upload it to other agencies, or has that changed?

Or do you mean files on istock?

Again, if you are an exclusive, you cant send photos elsewhere.

Eyeem is non exclusive, so in principle you can send them the same content you also have on istock or ss or 500px.

The Getty algorythm supposedly mixes things up enough,so I havent seen duplicates yet from 500px and eyeem collection for example.

However uploading to eyeem doesnt mean they take everything for distribution via partners. They might only send up 10% of what you offer.

Yes I mean Istock. I was an non-exclusive istock contributor + some partnersites of theirs like thinkstock etc. before they was bought up or whatever. Then it all moved to getty? I dont know really what happened, but i log into ESP-portal and get earnings from there now instead. No idea how uploads to getty/istock work now, someone can enlight me if they want.  I cant upload new content to istock/getty as non-exlusive anymore?  Is it through the old istock-site?
