Hi All,

I wanted to send a word out to everyone here about some new changes at Spaces Images / www.spacesimages.com. We are now accepting location lifestyle imagery from our contributors. Until now our collection has not offered lifestyle but with our agencies asking for lifestyle location more and more we feel it is a good time to add this new dimension to our collection. We are distributed to over 90 of the very best Macro agencies in the world, you name them and we distribute your work through them. We offer a 50/50 split as well as free key-wording and small retouching done by the best services in the industry for both our RM and RF collections. We have just completed new contracts with all of our distributors offering the highest return percentage possible. If you want to give Macro a test we would love to take a minute to talk over the details. I look forward to any and all replies.

Let me know if you ever start accepting macro.....would love to get back into RM.

I would assume you distribute the same image to multiple agencies, therefore working with non-exclusive agreements, or do you pick and choose who gets what and work with image exclusive agreements?

Thank you for the question, yes we distribute all of our contributors content to every agency we are only image exclusive not photographer exclusive. Most every agency accepts all of our content there are a few that do an in house edit but we are seeing 98% of our content accepted by those that do edit. We are also able to distribute your RM content through all of our RM distributors. We developed a backend system with our distributors that allows us to pull an image from all of our distributors if a buyer wants exclusivity of a specific image for an extended time period. This allows RM to finally be represented by multiple agency as apposed to just one.
I had another person ask about this new direction of what we are calling " Spaces with Faces " since this direction is very new for us it is hard for everyone to go to the site and see examples of what we are looking for. If you are interested in getting an idea of what we are looking for in our lifestyle content we will offer up a small gallery here to share some of the new content that is coming into Spaces that clearly captures this new direction.
In a nut shell if you are producing high end lifestyle imagery on location we are interested in talking to you about representing some of your work. We are big believers in spreading work around to several agencies it is the smartest plan for any photographer that is producing stock to follow. I think it is great you are inviting people to try macro via spacesimages. There are not many agencies that openly invite new contributors and there are plenty that are still biased against contributors that supply microstock. So this is a good opportunity.

The personal contact alone will be worth it. I am learning so much from discussions at stocksy or westend61. It can be difficult to decide what to send where, but if you get accepted at a high end agency you can always ask for feedback. Of course you will have to accept the selection process which is very different to the micros. But in time you learn what the agency likes and what they can sell.

And here we are, from the space website, requirements:

Finished files must be 50MB 8-bit JPEG files at a resolution of 300dpi and processed in the Adobe1998 RGB color space. High-resolution scans from large format film are acceptable and must fulfill the same requirements

Doesnt make sense. Megapixels make sense. SRGB makes sense.

I just checked and an 81 MP 8 bit jpeg file is only 40.5 MB, so I guess I can't get to 50 MB unless I add some noise. Perhaps this is more like the Alamy completely unintuitive requirements of X file size saved as another format but we want it saved as a jpg? (really, listing MP requirement makes so much more sense for digital files.)

It would be nice to have a higher value outlet for higher value work though.

Uncompressed. You need to open the image in PS and then you can see the uncompressed size.

Higher end files are often used for print, so Adobe RGB which has a much wider gamut, is the best choice.
The 50MB requirement, as Ron said, refers to the uncompressed file size. To further clarify, a 50 MB file is roughly 5126px x 3112px or about 17.5MP, so your huge files may have to be downsized for the site (some sites won't take jpegs of files that are >60MB uncompressed), but they are certainly more than large enough.
