But, I don't think serious media makers are happy buying highly compressed video files there instead of Apple ProRes you can buy at Pond5 or Shutterstock.

If so, makes me wonder why Adobe would have even approved of this venture then.

Because it's an added bonus. They havent invested in this, after all they use fotolia's infastructure with a frontend so to speak, and the fact that they  compress so heavily is because they dont want to afford infastructure for storage and network. It's cheaper like that.
They cant even display downconverted hd clips, something that should have been on their top priority since they can't mirror 4K clips from fotolia (which hasnt even priced them officially).
How long since Mat Hayward announced the 4K bug on their "to fix immediately" list?Sure.

Meanwhile fotolia still can't display a proper video preview.Especially for 4K files it takes longer to load the preview than to encode the prores from my end.
Makes me curious how i even sold 5 clips there during the past 45 days.

Yes, I upload big ProRes422 files and they compress to 1/10 of the size for customers to download.  LOL.

Slightly OT, since you guys are obviously uploading Prores, which agencies are actually selling those clips without conversion?

You mean downconvertion?
I only know of nimia offering 4K clips without bothering to downconvert.

Sorry, that's not what I meant.

I wanted to know which agency is selling the file without re-compressing it. I mean the original uploaded file.

In the case of Fotolia I understand that any compression type will be converted into h.264 as the file format for sale.

So if you upload Prores (regardless of resolution), which agencies sell the actual Prores file?

Ah, ok. Thanks :)

They convert to h264 or whatever for smaller size purchases, but they all keep original ProRes file for sale for the size (HD, 4K or whatever) you originally uploaded.  I hope they convert 4K ProRes file to 1080 ProRes file instead of compressing to lower quality.

Didnt know that fotolia reconverted to h264.
Nevertheless it accepts prores which has issues displaying properly as a preview (broken frames),so it's better to upload a different format in case this issue transfers over to their h264.
Pond5 i think also creates an h264 4K file but it displays the prores as their main one and if you purchase it you can always download the h264 if you're in a hurry. Not sure about SS, VB, and Dissolve (if they offer h264 reconversions as on option too once you buy the clip).

I downloaded my own video from 123RF to check if there was any change in the original video I uploaded. No change except the file name. Same format (MOV/PJPEG) same file size.

BTW in the last couple of months I see a remarkable increase in video sales in Fotolia. I hope it continues..

I've noticed they are picking up as well.

Has anyone been able to upload 4k photo jpeg through their ftp?

I've tried and the files get rejected.  Their own support team doesn't seem to know what photo jpeg is!

I have, including just today. But as with all sites, I've had difficulties. Sometimes the same file gets re-sent over and over, sometimes it hangs at 100% completed, 0:01 left (depending on the ftp client I use). It's very frustrating.

Yes, few of my 4K Photo jpegs approved in fotolia. However none of those 4k items visible in Adobe Stock.

I upload UHD files in prores 422HQ to Fotolia and no problems. They ask that you keep file sizes lower than 3900MB.
I know that they transcode my prores files to .h264 but I upload the same clips to other agencies too and couldn't be bothered to make an exception exclusively for Fotolia.
As for sales - poor as usual... Fotolia accounts for less than 10% of my microstock income. Too bad, I had high hopes for Adobestock :(

I don't have the same experience.
After the Adobe connection my sales in fotolia stop. They were not enthusiastic before but at least some low res from time to time. Now nothing.
