I just wonder why they do this?
Are they out of STOCK...

Seriously.  Is there a shortage of content?

Well you need a fair quantity of good content to build an agency, and many independents that are successful just haven't bothered uploading because the likelihood of return on time investment doesn't seem to make the exercise worthwhile.

Maybe this is more of a sign that Corbis is finally starting to take the segment seriously and that we may see some competition. Can't be a bad thing for contributors.

Veer is probably doing this because they need more content. Even if they are doing this because maybe they noticed decrease in uploads and disappointment of some contributors, I'm glad things are finally starting to turn around, and sites are starting to pay contributors to upload. Deposit Photos, than Zoonar, now Veer (I probably forgot someone)...
nice, nice...

Patrick,
lol, you got lost :)

No matter, it's in the past, water under the bridge.
The offer is good, Corbis needs no introduction and it's time to try again.
You could even contact Ryan (Veer) right here, on this forum.
I'm sure he'll help.
Good luck :)

An attempt to keep contributors happy and keep them from closing accounts?
An attempt to attract contributors who have already left?

What is minimum payout at Veer? I guess somebody in marketing dept calculated how much images they can allow before user can hit a payout limit. I do not believe that they would hand over 100s of dollars to everybody just for uploading. In addition you might not be able to upload 400 images in 2 months when their queues are overloaded. We already observed what happened at DepositPhotos when too many people claimed their first payout, they removed them from promotion.

It's nice to see someone doing something for existing contributors instead of newbies! Bravo!!

The way that I read it, it doesn't matter when they're approved...

You have to SUBMIT the image in the time-frame specified. If images are pending, I wouldn't expect them to earn the bonus.

I have over 1700 images waiting to send through but the with only 100 a week it will take me a while.

isn't it weird indeed that they pay for uploads (presumably to get more content) AND they limit submissions to 100 a week?

Dook

I guess they will change the 100 a week limit. It doesn't make sense with their new goals.

mtkang

so has it started? i am lucky just got approved today. Since the first 10 images are submitted as jpg, i am thinking to resubmit them as vector eps, do i need to request veer marketplace to remove those jpg duplicate?

Nice to see that there IS AGENCY which respect seasoned contributors!

Good move Veer!

I think they might keep the 100 a week limit.  It is going to cost them a lot if they drop that and reviews will take forever.  It is good to see them using some of their cash to build up their collection.  Hopefully they will be as aggressive with marketing afterwords and give istock a real challenge.  Corbis is the No.2 in macro, so Veer could do the same in micro and they also have the advantage of higher upload limits for non-exclusives.  I just hope they really go for it and make me motivated to stick with microstock.

Just hope the rejection rate doesn't go through the roof and they keep the reviewers happy.  The queue has been big in the past but it will be massive now.

Reaktori

ok. ok. Initial submission of 10 images posted. wish me luck.

Is anybody else having difficulty uploading using FTP?

I'm using filezilla which keeps disconnecting, some files get through but most aren't with the error messages "connection timed out" "couldn't connect to server" "critical error"

Same here with Filezilla. Maybe they are getting to many uploads now.

RT

It's not just Filezilla, I've also tried using Fetch. I'm trying to upload 100 files and so far out of 27 only 5 have got through!

This is the reason I haven't bothered uploading before, I've always had FTP problems with them.

Phil

I could never get filezilla to connect to them when I used a proxy server. A few months ago I stopped with the proxy and since then I hit connect, it fails with a critical error message, I connect again and it fails again, then when I connect a third time it works :)  Dont know why, and no other site has a problem.

Uploading a whole portfolio to a start up agency without an incentive like this is a waste of time in my opinion. Sadly, I tried registering at their site but "an unexpected error occurred" several times. I'm going to give it a try later and see what happens. If they do not fix this, and the broken FTP people reported, dash for cash campaign will be useless.

Unless they go forward with some significant marketing campaign, the influx of new files following this promotion will make the already low sales pretty much non-existing.

Let's hope they are trying to build the library to prepare for some huge marketing.

good point - but it looks as though they have some serious plans for later this year

Quote...and as a means to help grow our collection even faster ahead of Veer's big re-launch this summer, we are making a push for more contributors and more content.

Yeah I'd like to hear what is happening with the limits for May and June as well.

After some initial errors Filezilla uploaded all my file without any further problem. BUT...
They do not read my description field from IPTC. Every other agency does. :(

How is this any reflection of paying for uploads?
