LOL  Before Getty bought Jupiter/StockXpert, remember they added the Hemera Collection to iStock?  I wasn't paying much attention, so I'm wondering if maybe the StockXpert stuff went in there, because Hemera is not a new collection.

No, sorry, they never added Hemera to Istockphoto.  Stockxpert images went straight to TS and were called the Hemera collection.  Istock photos went into the Istockphoto collection at TS.  The picture collections are separate.

Maybe you are confused because Istock administrators are now administering the StockXpert site?

Maybe we are talking about two different things.  It is true that Istock admins are administering StockXpert, but the two collections have never merged and are totally separate on TS.

sure Lisa I was kidding!

- StockXpert is Hemera collection on ThinkStock
- Partner Program is Istockphoto collection on ThinkStock

we can only add files into ThinkStock, first getting them approved at IS and then wait MONTHS to get them on ThinkStock!

When I first heard the name "Hemera" after Getty bought Jupiter, it wasn't the first time I'd heard it.  What I remember is there was a Hemera Collection on iStock prior to Getty taking over StockXpert.  It was some sort of old Getty collection that had been migrated over to iStock shortly after Getty purchased them.  It wasn't a collection, like Vetta, where contributors added their images, but rather it was a portfolio of aging images.  So...what I thought is Getty/IS must have removed this specific portfolio/collection called the Hemera Collection from IS, added the StockXpert collection to it, and then uploaded it to TS.

I'm no expert on the history but do know that my StockXpert/thinkstock payments still come from HAAP:
HAAP Media USA, LLC
not iStock.

I think (not sure) that the Hemera collection is still administered by or in conjunction with HAAP Media USA, LLC
Isn't that Stock Xpert?

luissantos84

nop!

check you email recipient from paypal, different email address, the only thing you do is go out XP to check Hemera sales and request payment and that shouddnt be there, as they told before that website "stockxpert" would be close and thing would be handle only at IS

Is this the same Hemera being discussed here?

"Hemera Technologies, named for the Greek goddess of daytime, hopes you'll see the light and use their digital images. The company provides access to an extensive collection of royalty-free digital images, such as stock photos, clip art, animations, and other graphics. Customers can download images one at a time or they can sign up for various subscription levels. The company also sells its digital images in prepackaged collections. Hemera Technologies began business in 1997 and it was acquired in 2004 by Jupiterimages, which is itself a subsidiary of Getty Images."

Because I still have and use a series of discs from 7 or 8 years ago from Hemera called Photo Objects which are mostly isolated everyday objects with transparent bkgds. Low resolution suitable only for web but still very useful. If they no longer exist except as a collection from iStock that would be too bad.

Yes, and there was a Hemera before StockXpert was folded into it, so all StockXpert is Hemera but all Hemera images are not from StockXpert.

There are no IS photos in Hemera, they are only in ThinkStock under iStockphoto.

iStock and Hemera from StockXpert appear to start with file number 9,10 or 11. Seems like the older collections are lower numbers.

Here's one more point which hopefully will remove some of the confusion, but probably won't.

ThinkStock is all of the old collections that Getty owns, including the ones they acquired with StockXpert and when they bought HAAP. You will see Digital Vision, StockByte, ValueLine, PhotoDisc, LifeSize, Comstock, Brand X Pictures, Creatas, PixLand, Bananastock, Goodshoot, polka dot, ablestock. photos.com, liquid library, and one of my favorites, photo objects.net + istockphoto and hemera. I'm not sure if that's all of them?

I've personally come to view it as a closet full of dusty old collections. As far as I can see, the only new images are coming from iStock PP. I might be wrong. But that's sure the way it looks?

Yep.  Ditto.  I have those disks too.  I remember the excitement over their provision of pre-isolated images... way back in a prehistoric time long before microstock...

That's why I said I like the Photo Objects collection. I don't own it, but I thought it was a really good concept. One of the editors or moderators answered me that he worked for Photo Objects (or was he an owner, my mind is going) and that they had sold out to Getty. So another case of an agency within and agency, small wonder we are confused. Photo Objects was itself, then part of Hemera, which them became part of ThinkStock, but Photo Objects remains with it's own name.

Maybe it would be interesting to do a family tree, (which would be a great service for explaining how all these ThinkStock divisions came to where they are now) but I've wasted enough time for today, I'll leave that to someone who cares. ;)

But an entire collection of objects isolated on white, I'd think that should be a success. Must have been some marketing, financial or distribution issue. Great Niche Market!

I have a request pending since May 31 (can't remember if Moneybookers or Paypal).

Edit: paid today (July, 4th) with Paypal

By the way - © 2005-2009 HAAP Media Ltd, a subsidiary of Jupiterimages. is what it says on StockXpert.

Also this for anyone who cares.

We use two well known money transfer services, Paypal and Moneybookers, or you can request a check by mail. Electronic payment requests are usually processed within 14 workdays. Check requests are processed at the beginning of each month and the checks are sent out at the middle of the month. We strongly encourage the use of Paypal or Moneybookers for fast and reliable payments.

Doesn't mean they always process in 14 WORKING days, that's three weeks. Take June 18th, 14 working days and you have July 11th payment? Or maybe July 9th? See what happens. But that's what the FAQ says.

One data point: I put in a request on July 1st.  Payment arrived yesterday, July 4th via PayPal.  Maybe it was lucky timing.

Karimala

Looks like they processed all the payments on the 4th...four days late, I might add.  In May, Darek from support told me payments are made on the last day of the month.

I think you may have that right and somewhere else they had different dates for payments that said, end of the month for everything, so if someone makes a request on the 1st, it will take a month. The FAQ answer may not agree with the current policy. Good Point!

How did they process payments on the 4th which is a holiday, not a working day. Very strange. It does say 15 working days. Oh wait, no 4th in GB, it's a US only holiday. :D

2nd and 3rd are NOT working days, (being Saturday and Sunday) and from what I've seen, in the UK, Noon Friday is pretty much the start of the weekend. I'd argue it was one day late, as weekends are free, maybe only a half day late, considering the source. ;)

Karimala

The "15 working days" is a leftover from the StockXpert days.  No one has bothered to update the info since the merge.

That's what I figured, that we probably can find a different answer on the forums (are they still around?) Or the email will have a third answer. I'd go with what you said. End of the month they do accounting and send payments.

Also for those here who are on the button ready to jam and complain, it's not instantaneous, they need some time to process the reports and make payments. ;) So lets say, they start looking at it, the day after the end of the month and it's probably going to take a few days after that.

Since I don't get monthly from them and haven't sent in a request this year, I can only go by what I read. I'd trust you or the people who cash out every month, to report back, the real answer, which will be Number Four and the truth!  ;D
