It has been reported Mostphotos members are forming alliances with one another and instituting gang warfare!

Nightly raids by one gang on another, delivering  the rival gang members with
copious amounts of low ratings of all "1's" and sneaking then back to their respective portfolios, and hiding among their images have been observed.

Digital warfare has broken out out -  People are getting emotionally assassinated and sales are beginning to suffer as a result.

An insider has reported that one side is developing a "nuclear comment bomb". This device if unleashed will not only devastate the opposing side with a total oblivion of "1's" but will
also leave nasty comments about the authors images as well. " I hope my sales don't suffer" reported one witness. and another stated it has cost him thousands in therapy sessions with his therapist. "This site is costing me more money than I make here" he reported.

There are no signs of any scheduled peace talks in the future. It is hoped that the owners
of the site will be able to initiate some sort of settlement soon.

If you dish out 1's, you will get them on your images.  There are probably gangs going round dishing out 10's hoping people will reciprocate.

Y'all are funny!

I agree with Sharpshot, whatever you dish out, it'll come back to you, just like in real life.

And its NOT that bad, its great! Its fun and we are all enjoying doing it... if nothing else its a way to have fun with the tight-knit community we are. Its harmless, y'all!  Why do people get all bent out of shape about it? Not going to join until its straightened out?  That seems like a silly reason not to join if its a great site (it is) and its making money (it is).

We had a meeting and we voted. We would appreciate it if you would not join at all.

We recognize you as one of the top stock photogs and think it would be in OUR best interest
if we kept the good people out for now.

Please consider us in the future when your life is not so perfect.

Call me old fashioned but I always believed the main idea behind stock photography was to make money from your photos not to "have fun and be part of a tight-knit community" , if I wanted to be part of a tight-knit community I'd join my local photo club.

OK it time for a revolution. I say we storm all the stock sites....all of us at once. Then we take down all their servers.

Then we proceed to their corporate  offices, to rip open the safes and steal all the money.
No more pushing us little guys around as long as we all stick together.

lets go!

LOL  That put me in my place. Actually it's so time consuming to upload to a new site that I find any excuse not to unless its proved a really good money maker which this doesn't particularly seem to be.

I have had 5 sales so far at around $19 each.  Not bad for a new site.  It is nice to get paid in euros that are going up against sterling.

I think I have said this a thousand times now here on this forum, but I do it again.

1) The ratings and comments does not have such a big impact on the index. Number of sales and views from buyers is the big variables.

2) Why not have fun at the same time as making money. But if you don't want to just don't participate on the community. You don't even have to log in, though you will get an email as soon as you have sold photos. Then log in request the withdrawal, and then don't come back till you sell again.
We have a lot of members enjoying the community.

3) It is not true that sales has been suffering because of the ratings. Those figures are not public, where did you get that from. Second of all buyers don't see any comments, ratings or index. How can they then be affected.

They may not see them but they affect how high up your images appear in a search.

arian is the owner / rep for most photos.  he just said that the voting has very little affect on the rankings of your images.

You have made a valid point to ditch the voting and rating system if it has little effect why keep it?

I've been very happy with the votes I've received.

I have noticed though that a couple of top stock photographers have received ridiculously low votes on some of their top images. This my be out of jealously or the people voting may just not like the photo.

Perhaps Arian could introduce a feature whereby if you vote lower than a 5 you have to include a comment to say why. This may stop voting for purely malicious reasons.

Mostphotos has a more complex and intelligent backbone that is not showing on the outside. I will not go in to the technical details, but for example if you behave bad on the site, like in this case, voting low on pictures that does not deserve it, it will affect your trustworthiness. So what I want to say is that if you in someway behave badly, the site will automatically notice that and your reliability will go down, and next time your word will be less worth.

So in other words by behaving badly you just destroy for your self.

"the site will automatically notice"

It would be much appreciated if the site will automatically attract more customers.

I've got it...  BUMPER STICKERS!!  Nah, those only work if each of use stuck them on our foreheads and walked around Time's Square in New York City.  Even then people would just think we were weirdos.   ;D

Strange then that when you do a search the highest ranked images appear before the lower ranked ones, which off course is what most people would expect.

Weird though because as he clearly stated they designed the whole ranking system for no apparent or logical reason other than to be a bit of fun.

Now why don't other sites think of this, have a ranking system but don't actually use it to rank the search results - brilliant!!!!!
