Hi

I'd be interested in getting in to the Chinese or Japanese markets. In fact any general up and coming market perhaps outside of the Anglo-Saxon world. So, do you know of any microstock/midstock sites out there?

Me also, i'm interested for trying to sell in asian market.
I found this site this morning: http://www.photokore.com
It seems launched by istock, same social address and the site look likes istock in many points.
It's strange that istock attempt to launch a microstock website for asian, anybody knows the existence of this site?

Isn't the internet worldwide? ;)

No, that's not anything to do with IS.

Um, that looks to show that they both have their registrar data hidden behind a privacy service.

webcorelabs was started by Bruce back when, but that doesn't mean IS has anything to do with photokore.

You can have a look at the forum, the site functions...for me there is absolutely no doubt at all, the "spirit" is exactly the same, it's not a coincidence.

Right.  Because no other site has a forum besides IS.

Probably just something like this:

As for vectors they are absolutely different from istock. They want eps (version 9.0 and higher) + Ai + jpg

20%, like istock, when the site was only stingy, before being unfair.

You can find here some more info about them:
http://microstockagencies.blogspot.com/2011/04/photokore.html

They are still very young. They started sometimes last year. CEO is Sean F. Mooney. Their focus is the Asian market. They translate the keywords into different Asian languages. They just added Hindi as a search language. They listen to the contributors and trying to changes to their system to fix these problems. But for now I have lots of views but no sales. They are present in the Asian social media systems. I am not aware of any other agency doing this so far.

Will they make it? I don't know. But I will give them a try. Asia is a big market.

Funny, i sent some files to photokore, they all get approved in 24 hours, after some days, they control the keywords and put the same under control vocabulary than Istock under brackets, here is an example:
Asia, Close-up, Buddhism, Low Angle View, Thai Culture, Art (Art And Craft), Color Image, Design (Ideas), Sculpture, Wat, Railing, Gate, Footpath, Temple (Place of Worship), Blue, White (Descriptive Color), Pattern, Spirituality (Concepts), Famous Place, Cloudscape (Cloud), Traditional Culture, Sky, Cloud (Sky), Landscape (Non-Urban Scene), Day, Architecture, Ornate, Nobody, Building Exterior, Decoration, Photography (Style), Thailand, Sunlight (Light Effect), Religion (Ideas), Style (Design), Horizontal, Outdoors

They also add new keywords: railways, landscape, day, etc.
In a word, they check all the keywords and adapt them to their site search vocabulary!!! Incredible, maybe the only site to do that!!

Here are my original keywords:
temple; thailand; white; buddhism; art; asia; architecture; religion; thai; building; asian; tradition; culture; travel; decoration; sculpture; style; design; wat; tourism; traditional; spiritual; ornate; chiang rai; exterior; famous; landmark; religious; siam; wat rong khun; sunny; modern; vacation; beautiful; fairy;

Trust me, they have no relationship with Istock. Period. I know because I have been working with them "behind the scenes" for a few months now.

Ok, it's not istock, but they are a copy of istock in many ways.

cardmaverick , could you, please, give us some information about this company? Do you think it's worth the time to uploading some pictures there? I see you know the asian microstock market...

Yeah, let's hear it. Are you an employee or contractor for them of some sorts?

What's their popularity in Asia? Are they one of the big players?

Are you selling with them? If so, what type of content? Asia related or western world stuff?

Do you think they have the breath to stay in this long enough?

Let us know what you know. Thank :)

I was a very early contributor, I don't work for them as an employee. I actually beta tested their FTP, I'm also the guy who got them to support it in the first place, etc..

It's been good, they really listen to my advice and act on it. They are still building the site, but from day one, it was miles ahead of many larger agencies on their opening days.

I registered to Photokore and uploaded a few pictures but they require photos at 300 DPI.

Now that is a bit weird since print resolution has little to do with actual size of digital files. I contacted support.

Otherwise, their upload method is straightforward.

Isn't the internet worldwide? ;)

I wish it was. But most sites are being localised lately, and I guess most people are too lazy to read an English web site.
