Hi all,

I have submitter my RF images to SS, IS, 123RF, Alamy, CanStockPhoto for 3 months and all of them are about landscape or food without people inside.

Now I want to submit RF images with model release, so I have some questions:

- If one model appeared in many image sets in different months or years, do I need to attach different model releases for different shooting scenes? (Since the SS model release asks to put info about description of scene!)

- Could I photograph releases? Or I have to scan them?

Thank you in advance!

you can photograph or scan releases. The point is, they should be readable.

As for descriptions of scenes. Well, use your imagination and produce a description that covers the scenes.

Like:
Photoshoot of Model XX photographed on a white background with different items in her hands.

It is important, if you have erotic images, that the erotic scene is mentioned, so the agency can see the model agreed to it, but otherwise with ordinary shots, its not so important.

It helps to imagine what a model would sue for, ( it could be other things than erotic, eg tobacco), and then you protect yourself as a photographer to describe the scene so that the model cannot sue.

I don't fill in the description of the shoot.  Aside from iStock (where I haven't submitted model photos in a couple of years), none of the agencies have objected, nor do they require that I submit a new release for each shoot.  In fact some agencies insist on one release for a model, no matter how many times you shoot with him or her.

I scan my releases; it's easier to get a consistently good quality image that way.

The model need to be made aware that the image could legally be used (from some/most agencies) for tobacco or just about anything else.
If s/he's likely to sue if s/he appears in a tobacco advert (or almost anything else - alcohol, religion, politics, whatever), s/he shouldn't be modelling for RF stock.

Sometimes models are girlfriends and x`es, who return with a vengance.
Then its good to have things written down.

It does not matter if you inform them ever so much. What matters is what is written on the release.
For example: model XX dressed in a bikini, next to a bed in a hotel room holding a white piece of paper in her hand.

Then the model cannot claim that she couldnt imagine the picture was going to be used in an erotic way.

So the conclusion is, that as a photographer, it is good to have a precise description.
and yes, you can be lazy and vague, but for your own sake. Describe things.

Thanks all for your great help :) Now I knew that I can photograph my model release and use it many times for the same model. And I can choose to write a scene description or not, right?

Btw, for the SS model release, do I really need to attach a model's head photo as well?
