My experiment has not gone on that long at all but lowering my prices has not helped at all.    had clips at 199 for 4K and 79 HD,   whent as low as 50 4K 25 HD    and it has done nothing.   its only been about 14 days so I guess I cant really tell to much.

Any thoughts?

I feel like if someone wants a clip, price is not a big deal?

With all the additional cost of camera equipment, faster-processing computer, increased bandwidth and time needed for uploading, etc, why on earth would anybody undercut their own prices for 4K (or anything else really)?

I've recently taken the plunge into 4K, which means I'm currently absorbing the extra costs associated with that, and for sure I will not be undercutting my prices anytime soon.

Well I was hoping it would lead to more sales, so in return more monthly pay.

No sales? Hah, you missed the frustration to see $1,76 to $13,58 ....cheerful "you made a sale" notifications! :P 14 days or a couple of months in my case with this exact pricing. Attracted some low sales and lots of bin adds (...also some name calling from others...) but not actual money in pocket.

Reverted everything back to normal and unchecked all affiliate or partner or whatever called programs options that produce low priced sales. As you say, if a buyer needs it then they will pay and get it. P5 clients needing near free stuff are not of any interest to me. Same possible AS & Vimeo "exposure" that actually also lead to low cost marketplaces. I dislike to see my content spread all over the web, I think that perhaps emphasizing to the "this can be found only here as exclusive" can justify a nice price range. Guess with a combination of good subjects and shots. I don't like spending my time figuring out discounts and tweaking prices. I prefer to spend time trying to get better in finding subjects, framing and shooting stock in general and pushing my content whenever I can.

Edit, it is interesting to see that now exclusive clips pool in P5 are nearly 5% of total content. 950.000 exclusive among 19.000.000 in total (commercial + editorial) footage.

What sells is the content not the price...
Btw there is no need to price different from ss or as on pond5 marketplace...buyers with low budget moved from pond5 to subscription agencies...

Not only hyperstock,
they also have the membership program which is a all you can eat buffet, much more dangerous than storyblock, as they actually have some excellent images at a ridiculous price.
Of course I am not saying that Pond5 is only a subscription agency

You're wrong...membership is completely different from subscription...you pay per download...not a monthly fee to download alll the library...

When P5 lowered our % I increased prices to fill in the difference. even before that sales dropped from steady 2-3-4 a month to barely 2 a month due to their playaround experimenting algorithms and what not.

No way i am lowering my prices and selling my content for pocket tips. It sales for prices i set or it doesn't i do not care. Other thing, which is VERY important is lowballing entire industry. When i see good content for 10-20$ 1080p and 20-40$ 4K i get really pissed, but no way i'm going down with my prices.

I changed my prices to 199 4k 135hd     Does anyone know if the price changes are not immediate? Because I had a sale after I changed them back, but a clip sold for my old price.
