Has anyone else seen a large number (relative to your normal volume) of $2.00 subscription sales at Dreamstime today? I've got about 5-10 times my normal volume today and the royalty for each was $2.00. I'm just worried that those downloads might be fraudulent.

I thought that it would be fun to see what other people received for Christmas that they absolutely LOVED! While I'm thankful for my health and the love of my family, I'm particularly excited to have received a CineMoco Dolly!

What's your favorite present?

Heard of this site? http://www.dmca.com/

Wondering if anyone has any experience with it and what benefit (if any) you feel it could provide to us as content producers.

Dreamstime.com / $2.00 subscription sale?
September 14, 2013, 00:32
Today I had a $2.00 subscription sale on a level 4 image. I've never seen a subscription sale for anything other than $0.35. Anyone else seeing this or is it a fluke/glitch?

Is anyone else here a member of the Canon CPS program? I just received an email from them and though that maybe it had been written by one of our "favorite" microstock sites. It was along the lines of, "We're making some changes," which translated to, "You're getting the shaft again."

They're no longer allowing the 60D to be counted towards membership points. I have 2 of them!

The only good news is that they've reduced Platinum membership from $500 to $300, but I doubt that I'll ever own enough Canon gear to qualify.

Thanks for reading my rant.  ;D

Image Sleuth / Not sure if this is allowed
July 30, 2013, 14:39
The model in the image used in the article linked below contacted me this morning. In your opinion, is this an accepted use of the image? It seems like the usage makes it look like the photo is of "Tom Logan," the chef mentioned/quoted in the article.

The model wasn't upset, just amused at seeing another photo of him in use.

A license was sold this morning on DT. What are your thoughts? This is more from curiosity than any desire to pursue the matter.

I though that it would be a good idea to start a new thread for this topic to see if there is any real interest. So far we have 2 possible domain names:

We had discussed allowing members to post infringement finds and some sort of DMCA assistance.

There was discussion of including other useful resources (e.g. model releases, property releases, etc)

Please post any other ideas on this thread.

Thanks!

I just thought that the wording that iStock uses when I try to access my account after it was closed by my request was fairly humorous.

"Your account has been Banned."

LOL  ;D

I want to close my StockXpert account so that none of my images will appear on Thinkstock. I've already deactivated all but 1 image on iStock. I have about $37 in my StockXpert account at the moment. If I close my account, will I get that money, or will it disappear?

Bigstock.com / Can't log in
January 18, 2013, 03:45
Anyone else having trouble logging into BS?
#13
OK, let's have it...

What would you like to see in a "Sell on your own website" software package? If there's enough interest, I'm going to be working with another coder to put something together that will be:

  • Rich in features (based upon your input)
  • AFFORDABLE
  • Easy to install

Please list your wants/needs in this thread and we'll see what we can come up with for you!

Off Topic / Asking for a bit of help
January 13, 2012, 21:57
I've been doing a lot less stock since I've been busy with a new project.

Back in November, I started a local weekly cooking show called CNY Flavor. I'm filming with my 5DMKII, a 60D and a t2i.

I was wondering if any of you with Facebook accounts could be persuaded to "Like" the page for the show?

It will only take a minute of your time and will help me sell advertising.

Who knows, you might even come across a recipe that you love...

Thanks in advance!

I haven't checked the TOS (couldn't find them), but some of you may want to check this site out. 9GB free, unlimited storage for $2/month USD.

I don't know if anyone else saw this today, but I feel that it's pretty darn important.

The US Appeals Court for the 1st Circuit ruled that it is a First Amendment right to film/record police officer doing their job in a public space.

Bravo!!

Did anyone else have to log in when they got to iStock and then have to fill out a buyer survey or is it just me?

Bigstock.com / $0.00 download?
June 03, 2011, 17:02
Today, I noticed that I had an image downloaded twice on BigstockPhoto. Once for $1.00 and once for $0.00. Anyone else seeing anything like this or have any ideas?

Off Topic / What does this remind you of?
April 29, 2011, 12:16
I saw this on MSNBC and it reminded me of some situation that I read about here... Anyone remember what it was?

QuoteOn Wednesday Kristopher Johns of Alabama filed a suit in U.S. District Court accusing Sony of "negligence in data security" and of not taking "reasonable care to protect, encrypt, and secure the private and sensitive data of its users" as well as for taking too long to notify him and other customers that their data had been pilfered.

Johns and his attorneys are seeking class action status for the case as well as monetary compensation and free credit card monitoring for everyone affected.

I read this article earlier today and immediately thought of all the talk here regarding a class-action suit against iStock. It sounds like the contributors have been cut off at the knees. Please correct me if my interpretation is incorrect.

iStockPhoto.com / Payout for January 17th
January 18, 2011, 15:10
Am I the only one that didn't get notice of a payout this week? I submitted the request on January 14th but have not received any email stating that they are doing anything about it. Is this the next phase of their plan, they just ignore payout requests?  >:(

General Stock Discussion / What to charge?
January 11, 2011, 18:20
I know that this has been discussed here before, but I just received a request for usage of one of my images with the following criteria:

Quote(1) year,  unlimited USA use in the following: trade ads, trade and consumer collateral, convention panels, posters, premiums and all electronic media.

The image in question is already being sold as micro and the buyer is aware of this. How much is reasonable to charge? BTW, I would rather come in a bit low and make some cash than price myself out of the game.

Thanks!

I saw this today and wondered what you all thought. Will this cut down on piracy of our work or will thieves just find work-arounds?

Is it my imagination (and it could be) or did the cutoff for PayPal used to be on Monday? I requested a payout on the 10th and it's still pending...

I'm having a great month (money-wise!) starting on the 7th at IS. I wonder if this is a result of buyers using up their credits so that they can stop using IS altogether. Any thoughts?

I've uploaded some new files via FTP the same as always, but now, hours later, they are still not showing in the "Waiting to be submitted" area. Anyone else having trouble?

QuoteGreetings!
My name is Joe and my wife's name is Pamela, we live and work as wine sellers(wholesale/retail) in England and China and will be relocating to the State of New York, USA on the 12th of October,2010.

I came across your contact information on the internet after a search for a professional photographer and I hereby write to request if you will be available to offer 4hours of photographic services for the celebration of our 5th wedding anniversary on our arrival to the States. Myself,my wife,my lovely daughter-Debbie and about 12 family members and friends will be present.

Could you please provide answers to these questions if you are interested in this offer

1)Will you be available to provide this service on any date between October 15th and 20th? if so what precise date will be fine for you so as to include this in our plan?
2)What is your address location in New York so as to estimate how close you are to us ?

Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me on my phone no:

It lists a phone number and address in London. I am afraid to respond to the email if it is some kind of weird thing. Also the email was not addressed to me but had the same to and from addresses which immediately seems suspicious. Has anyone else gotten anything like this before? Does anyone know how I could verify the phone number or address in London to see if this is real or not?

iStockPhoto.com / Numbers don't add up
August 07, 2010, 13:26
When I look at my stats, I see 1 more sale than when viewing details. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I can't seem to find that other sale anywhere!

P.S. I've looked for multiple sales, prints, extended lic., royalty delay and so on and still can't find that other sale!

Lighting / How much to charge?
July 08, 2010, 22:08
I was contacted by a friend of mine that owns a large furniture store locally. He knows that I know my way around a camera a bit and wanted to set up a studio in his warehouse to photograph his furniture for his website. He saw a competitor's website where all of the furniture was isolated on white and wants that look as well.

I met with him today to see how much space was available and other logistics. What we came up with was the following:
1 - I will put together a "shopping list" for him including lights, camera, construction materials, etc.
2 - I will be on location while the electrician installs lighting to ensure proper placement
3 - I will be on location while the carpenter installs the curve between the wall and the floor
4 - I will mark out on the floor where tripod will be located and rough locations for furniture during shooting
5 - I will go to his location to set up the camera and create a small training manual (camera settings mostly)
6 - I will go to his location to train one or more of his employees to take the photos in the completed studio

After that, my job is finished. What would you guys charge for something like that? He asked me for a number, but I didn't want to jump the gun, so to speak.

TIA for your input!

I ran across this article and wondered if it applies to stock video creators. Should I be scared? I've been itching to get into video a bit since I got the 5D Mark II.

Well, it's the first of the month. Here are my earnings percentages for February. IS was helped out by a rare EL. That was my 5th EL since I started there in 2004.

I am brand new to stock and thought I would submit to the big 6 listed on the right. I can't seem to find a way to upload to Stockxpert!

Does anyone besides me think that it's strange that this week's featured photographer only has 259 images at DT? How do they choose the featured photographer anyway?

I found this link explaining how to upload vectors to each site. http://www.microstockgroup.com/knowledgebase/doku.php?id=vector I do not however understand dreamstime. It says to upload a jpg first, then an eps file. When do you upload the eps file? After the jpg gets approved or after the jpg shows up in the unfinnished section( I am using ftp to upload)?

Also fotolia it says svg file. What is that? I am only familiar with the eps file.

Finally I would like to say it has been very frustrating trying to learn how to upload vectors to the different sites. Some of them tell you exactly what to do and others there is no information! Thank goodness for the microstock group!!!!  ;D

Dreamstime.com / Can't buy credits

I hope that other buyers are not having trouble!

Here's my graph for earnings percentages for December 2009. How did the various sites do for everyone else?

I read about this on SXC and thought that it was a wonderful idea. Perhaps others here would be willing to participate. I'm trying to get set up at a local nursing home.

123RF / Choosing watermark position
October 07, 2009, 05:37
What does everyone think about having the choice of where the watermark appears on each of your images on 123RF?

While I think it's a good idea, I'm not looking forward to going through my whole portfolio one photo at a time...   :-\

See here after you log into 123RF

I'm sure that many of you know that I'm not a big fan of the CV on IS...

As a result, I'm VERY careful with keywords there.

However, I'd like everyone's input on the following situation:

The image above was rejected by IS for the following keywords:

QuoteThe following keywords used for this file do not appear to be fully relevant to the subject.

{[ Coin Bank (Financial Item),  Banking,  Business,  Finance,  Finance, Investment,  Savings (Financial Item),  Investment (Finance),  Isolated (Cut Out),  Retirement,  Retirement]}

I've already used my 3 scout requests (all files accepted after scout, BTW) for the month.

General Stock Discussion / Extended License
September 17, 2009, 04:23
I was curious if anyone was willing to share what types of photos they get the most extended license sales on. We have only gotten a couple and so I was curious to see if there is a "type" of image that does better than others for the extended license. Thanks in advance for any information.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the highest flash sync speed is on a pro-sumer grade DSLR. I only use strobes, not speedlights, so I'm constrained by the camera sync speed. Unless I'm incorrect and you can use high-speed X-sync with strobes.

If anyone has info regarding any of the above, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Anyone else notice that download stats page is blank? Other commission pages work fine...
