Im arguing with a guy at Mp about upsizing. He says Canon has a software that makes it possible to upsize a RAW photo almost unlimited without visible degradation.

I want that software for nikon as well ;)

Do anyone know what he may be talking about?

Not!

I read a blog today at Dt "  What do you like most about DREAMSTIME? ".  People are saluting this site, and many seems to be exclusive.

Nothing against Dt at all exept lack of sales,  but what I read in the blog is beyond my understanding.   Exclusive at Dt????

Can anyone please shed some light on this mystery?   I´d cut my earnings 20 times if I dropped the rest ???

Off Topic / Computer stress test
July 09, 2010, 14:19
The picture below has 2 identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress levels at St. Mary's Hospital..

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical. A closely monitored, scientific study revealed that, in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical; a person under stress would find differences in the two dolphins. The more differences a person finds between the dolphins, the more stress that person is experiencing.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences you may want to take a vacation.

This came from: http://radiomankc.blogspot.com/

I just got a call from a nice lady who wanted to buy a photo of mine from Istock. My bestseller!!  It´s available as Rf and Extended but she told me they advised her to contact me directly.

I told her to email all the details how she will use it and so on, so I could think about it.  waiting for it rigth now..

It´s been sold 900 times already, so I doubt she wanna buy the full rights for all times....

Could there be any point in buying it as Rm when it´s on the micros as extended.

Any advice is welcomed:)

I´ll let you know what she says in the email later on...

iStockPhoto.com / Unedited Nasa image ?
April 30, 2010, 18:27
Scout rejected this with following reason:

++nasa image not sufficiently modified

It´s made from a flat "nasa map" like this:

What do u think?  I think I´ve done "something" to it...

I decided to try Dt´s keymasterprogram a few weeks ago. I checked it up today and  was surprised.  A 3d render of a megaphone with a cord and microphone.

Keywords are:
3d, abstract, art, artistic, artistry, artwork, background, blue, button, design, designing, device, graphic, illustrated, illustration, instrument, loud, lodspeaker, mic pattern, speaker, wire

Half of them are questionable but the rest is a joke ???

And they cannot be edited by me until reviewed by Dt´s editors ??  Strange that it´s approved and up for sale before that?

Dreamstime.com / Backdoor to review queue
March 24, 2010, 13:40
In a queue of 10 images with 114h reviewtime there is one in the middle with "Image under review".  That´s weird !!

And no exclusive box was ticked by mistake...
#14
I was going through my rejections at Istock when I came to think about all rejected
files they keep in case of reconsideration by scout.  How long they keep them for?

There must be milions of images stored just in case. Seems stupid or am I missing something?

I used to have an image selling every day there til a few months ago, when the .25 selling madness all of a sudden stopped ???

I tried searching for "lonely tree" and got 20 results.  (13000 at SS)

I typed a three word search and got 0 results.

No wonder the downloads stopped :-[

General - Top Sites / Mo money
August 05, 2009, 20:17
What if all sites agrees to rise their prices to double or tripple amount at the same time. More money to everyone, (except buyers...)  But it´s still super cheap.   Do you think a buyer care if the image he want´s cost 1$ or 3$.

Sub sites could give a way 250 images/month instead of 750

This would probably just start another price war back to zero,  but if we don´t feed the ones that go below it should be ok.

What would happen???

Cameras / Lenses / Strap crap !
August 01, 2009, 18:16
Hey there!

My strap gave up today, resulting in my Nikkor 80-200 2.8 ED hit the asphalt lens first, pushed by an D300 with batterypack.  Pretty hard...

Im glad I had a heavy UV filter on.  But would have been even happier if the sun-cap had been on.

I cleaned off the broken glass and tried unscrewing the filter, without success cause the lens was squeezed slightly oval :-\
It seemed to work though for awhile, till I tried a closeup zoom where it jammed >:(.   I used it manually for a few hours and tried the AF again.    IT WORKED!!, the whole way :D     That´s quality...

And check your old strap.    I had a neoprene one with small fake leather pieces that just gave up.  I could easily rip the ok looking side off when I tried.   Don´t use fake materials .  And do a pressure test now and then...

123RF / Just weird...
June 08, 2009, 17:35
Search-engine like SS and customerbase like Crestock ???   They were dead for a long time til I uploaded about 100 images. Got a few sales, and now they´re dead again.      Don´t tell me I have to upload constantly there...
#21
Have you heard it before, and checked out their portfolio?  To find out it´s filled with out of focus noisy snapshots.

Did they get away with that earlier??  Or is it just bullshi...?    ( you better clean out your port before answering ;))

#22
This is pretty cool.
Don´t forget to click Hd and full screen

#23
Can anyone friendly please explain this.   I´m to tired to understand. I just got a headache.

In the countrylist it says:  Sweden 0% 0%

so?  They will withold 0%.    Do I need to do anything?
#24
Could you feel it?  It was like a hole in the chest.  But now it´s gone :D

I hear again and again how important it is to use a tripod and cablerelease.  Ofcourse when you´re using slower shutters.  But  let´s say I shoot a landscape with a wideangle in full daylight ( it happens :) ) and use S 800/f6.4 for example.  The dof is biiig.  and how much can I shake during that short amount of time?

Teach me please?

Hopefully some help to someone:)

123RF / Donating free images
March 21, 2009, 15:26
This is how they say it:

"What are the benefits of donating? Expect a huge increase in your portfolio exposure! Increase your sales, (oh yea), as much as 40% to 2800%!! Sell higher resolution images!"

The donation is time limited so I thought I´d give it a try, with five.    Nothing´s happening after a week. about 0% increase in sales:)

What about you?

General Stock Discussion / Free downloads?
July 19, 2008, 23:12
I have a question?

Is it allowed to buy a Rf image and put it on a website as free download?
I checked out a company that bought one of my images at FT, and they offer free wallpapers.
Have not seen mine there yet though :'(  It can´t be ok can it?

I need more ideas. Please help me...:)

General Stock Discussion / Whining!
June 15, 2008, 08:29
It feels like as soon as there´s a problem somewhere, we hurry here to complain about it!?

Why not send them an email instead, so they can fix it?

It´s always fun to read complains, but sometimes it feels a bit to much tabloidish!
#44
There´s a tread at the MP Forum http://www.mostphotos.com/forumviewthread.php?thread=1049

We need to come up with a new way for voteing that brings the right photos to the top.  The best way would for sure be reviewers, but I guess that is currently not an option.

It´s a democratic site, so what we come up with is important!

Let´s give them our proffesional thoughts
#45
Do u use refferal links, or are you sneaking in on your own when you find out about a new site?

I had this "I got caught" feeling a few weeks ago, when I came to a new site with the welcome message. Hi, you are reffered by .... But what is there to loose. It´s ridiculus:)

I got the feeling. Everyone´s got refferallinks but nobody uses others.

What about you?
#46
What would you do if you could travel back in time?

I´d send Arcurs to Is and SS on one of my refferal links:)
#47
I just HAVE to complain a little!

There´s a snowboard picture among the top photos at SS.  No offense to the photographer, but If I had taken that picture It would probably have ended up in the trash.  It´s sharp and has a nice clear sky, but thats it.

- only back of the person showing
- not the most stylish jump, grandma:)
-bad colors clothing.
-snow is overxposed

I can´t belive it sells!!!!!!! congratulations!

I´ve actually start to dig in the trashcan for goofy looking stuff after I saw this one :Q

No link. check most popular images.

iStockPhoto.com / Monopoly
May 02, 2008, 08:34
I´m kinda new to this and have some thought.

Pros like Arcurs with 10000 perfect images must get like 30% of the market. Instead of searching 3 milj images. They go to his portfolio, and know this is 100% good stuff.

I guess others like him are here, so soon they got the market covered.  Isn´t it just to many images to handle nowadays. So buyers go with the safe and easy cards.

Shutterstock.com / First submission at SS

How good is the chance to pass the test at SS if you upload 10 IS images?
