123RF / I opted out of Plus but I'm getting Plus earnings.
« on: March 03, 2025, 09:58 »
When 123RF introduced their 'all you can download' Plus plan, I promptly opted out.

Since then, I've seen the option on the submissions page for Premium, Premium and Plus and Free collection, and mine has defaulted to Premium only for the last couple of years.

However, for the last 10 days or so, I'm getting Plus sales recorded in my daily stats, and I haven't changed anything. I've searched the site, and can no longer find the opt out.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I have a nasty feeling that I may have missed an exciting news email

Canva / Canva - Canva for Education
« on: January 21, 2025, 11:58 »
Probably all Canva contributors got the email recently regarding content suitability for educational purposes, as per the following except:

In the coming months, you may receive emails from Canva notifying you if some of your content in Canva's library may not be suitable for some users in Canva for Education. Don't worryyou don't need to take any action. Your content will still be accessible outside the age-specific settings for Canva for Education.

I fully expected to get notification that some of my content was not considered suitable for younger viewers, as I have a number of wildlife images involving predation, and even one or two of the main sites have deemed them only suitable as mature content.

However, I was surprised to receive an email today as follows:

Notice of violation

To create a safe and respectful environment for everyone on Canva, we have policies that restrict certain kinds of content and behavior.

Were writing to let you know that content or behavior associated with your account violates Canvas Contributor Agreement.

There is then a long list of images involved, including the wildlife predation shots that I expected to be excluded from this age-related section.

The email closes with:

Repeated violations may result in the permanent suspension of your Canva account.

I honestly don't have an issue with what Canva are doing, but telling me that I'm violating the Canva Contributor Agreement and this may result in permanent suspension of my account, is a bit alarming.

As if they weren't unpopular enough, Shutterstock now have a new rejection policy.

Shutterstock Content Resubmission Guidelines

Guidelines on submitting content that has been previously reviewed or already approved.

Previously Rejected Content

Content can only be submitted once. When submitting content for the first time, please ensure it meets all Shutterstock Content Publishing Standards and Guidelines before submitting it for review. In most cases, our system will not allow you to resubmit content that has already been reviewed and rejected.

If you attempt to resubmit content that has been previously rejected, it will generally be rejected again for Previously Rejected.

Shutterstock.com / Are Shutterstock turning a blind eye to AI?
« on: November 05, 2024, 06:15 »
I know AI is improving all the time and, despite how we feel about it, it's here to stay.

The main sites have made their choices to accept it or not, and I'm sure most of us are working within the guidelines given.

However, this month on Shutterstock has gotten off to a really bad start, so I did some searches to see what has happened to the images that were selling daily, but have now suddenly stopped.

I looked at some broad subjects, where my images were well placed, and there is now so much approved AI, that real photos are being pushed further and further back. I'm not referring to Shutterstock's AI tool, but to people who are trying to pass off AI as real photos.

I have a lot of wildlife shots, so the first searches I checked, (restricting to photos and any time) were as follows:

'Koala'  - nearly 25k images. The number 1 spot is an Offset image and images 2 - 6 are AI, with several more on the first page.

'Kangaroo' - over 71k images. The top 10 has 3 AI images, and the 2nd image is a very rare 6 legged kangaroo.

'Lion' - over 600k images. At least 9 of the first 16 are AI.

'Jellyfish' - over 86k images. The top 10 are 2 from Offset and 8 AI.

'Polar Bear' - 44k images. At least 5 of the first 13 are AI, with AI images taking the first two spots.

'Dolphin' - 90k images. Of the top 30 images, no less than 15 are AI.

For every search I make, I'm finding similar results, and I've reported several portfolios to Shutterstock. A few have been removed, but many remain.

I know that someone started a thread here with stolen content, which makes sense, as we all want to check such portfolios for our own images, but I'm hoping that by listing some of the AI portfolios here, Shutterstock might take notice and take action quickly.

Here are a few that I've found today:

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/munawaekhan
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/almogphoto
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Amarphotocreater
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Tahseenamjad
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Toufiqrahaman
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Behramkhan03
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/rinku+makwana
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/ContentCreater1
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/IrfY
https://www.shutterstock.com/g/MuhammadAsif6

Please feel free to add any you find to this thread, or report directly, as these images are forcing us down in the searches, and it's not restricted to wildlife, but to almost all subjects, from food to interiors to landscapes to Christmas.

How 6 legged kangaroos are getting through a review process, is beyond me, so I can only assume that perhaps AI is checking on AI? Maybe if we start to call it out here, someone at Shutterstock will take action?

Adobe Stock / Great sales day - should I be worried?
« on: April 18, 2024, 16:26 »
I've read a lot recently about people getting their accounts suspended for 'irregular sales activity', so it's actually made me worry that a great sales day could end badly.

I've had a large series of images downloaded and, although this has happened before on other sites, it's the first time it's happened to this extent on Adobe.

I'm assuming the sales are legitimate, and I'm not looking to suddenly cash out the earnings, but should I be reporting this to someone just in case? Maybe @MatHayward could advise if there is anything I need to do?

I was browsing this morning, and came across several portfolios with the same images. After clicking around a bit, I realised it was a total minefield, with one copied image leading to another, and the issue just getting bigger and bigger.

I have quite a large portfolio, and with competition form both AI being passed off as 'real', and stolen content at every turn, I'm feeling the pinch. Fair competition is fine and healthy but this is really getting to be a bit much.

If I can find this from the similars displayed on the same page, then why can't the sites involved? If I submit two images that are vaguely close, then one gets rejected for being too similar!

You may want to check if any of these portfolios contain your work, as they all contain an image of these lovely musrooms:

https://www.istockphoto.com/portfolio/MohamedMehalla?mediatype=photography

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/rezzza

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Dykamahady

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Faiza+Anwar+8

To be honest, I'm not sure if any one of these is the original photographer but, from clicking around a bit, it just leads to more and more suspicious content.

This image from the second link above, https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/sweet-fresh-delicious-orange-fruit-1874601004, leads to:

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/shaggysart

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/fatimomi

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/mrbabaraslam1

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/Umamfals

https://www.shutterstock.com/g/vilculesemi02

The same oranges image is free to download from Pexels and Freepik, so I guess this has all become a free for all at our expense?

I have the DJI Mavic Pro 2, which takes great pictures but, due to the weight and registration issues for travel to foreign countries, I'm thinking about getting the DJI Pro Mini 3, as it's under 250g.

Does anyone have any experience of how the image quality compares? Is anyone using the Mini 3 for stock images or is it more just for fun?

Adobe Stock / Any option to change payment to $US from GB?
« on: September 27, 2022, 06:01 »
I know it's been discussed in the past, but recent events mean that, even after PayPal charges, contributors in the UK are currently losing about 14 per 100 based upon the Adobe conversion rate of .75.

Could we at least have a choice as to which currency we are paid in, so that we can control extraction of funds based upon exchange rates?

iStockPhoto.com / PayPal payment from iStock not received
« on: September 26, 2022, 13:09 »
For as long as I can remember, each month I get the Getty Remittance advice and then the PayPal payment email within minutes of each other. This month I got the Getty email on the 22nd but nothing since from PayPal.

Is anyone else experiencing a delay or should I be worried?

I have a small portfolio at Society6 for print on demand wall art and products. Sales are sporadic, and the upload process has always been a bit of an effort, but since their recent site update, it has become almost impossible.

I've reported the problem to their support line, but the response has been to claim I have an issue with my internet connection being too slow, which is affecting page loading times. My internet connection is not slow, and I'm not having any difficulties uploading the same images elsewhere.

Does anyone here upload and, if so, are you experiencing slow loading times when editing products?

Shutterstock.com / Shutterstock's Bridge to Bigstock
« on: May 07, 2022, 04:33 »
It anyone who is still on Shutterstock's Bridge to Bigstock scheme having problems?

Vectors stopped transferring a few years ago and, despite several tickets to Shutterstock support, promises that it would be investigated and fixed came to nothing. I gave up chasing and just uploaded my vectors manually, which wasn't a big deal, as my portfolio is 90% photos.

However, about 3 weeks ago, my photos suddenly stopped transferring. Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me? i have lots of other things not working properly, such as broken links from my contributor page, so I'm wondering if this is affecting everyone or if there's a problem with my specific account.

General Stock Discussion / Are DepositPhotos in trouble?
« on: March 24, 2021, 07:13 »
I can't request a payout and it's making me nervous.

The email to confirm the payment isn't being sent, despite numerous attempt over the past few days, so a payment request can't be completed. I've contacted support but not had a response.

Anyone else have an issue or is it just me?

Alamy.com / Alamy experience with RF sales
« on: May 23, 2020, 08:51 »
How successful are Alamy contributors with RF sales?

I know many did well with RM, but what has the experience been like for those who only have RF images to upload? I used to hate uploading to them, as the interface was so clunky, but the newer upload system is easier so I'm wondering if it's worth making the effort?

iStockPhoto.com / Portfolio numbers
« on: June 21, 2019, 10:47 »
Is anyone seeing anything odd on Istock?

I have a portfolio of over 2000 images, which show on 'Best Match', but only some 200 show on 'Newest'.

Canva / Canva - did I miss something?
« on: June 10, 2019, 05:01 »
I know Canva stopped uploads a while ago, then reinstated them I believe?

However, when I try to upload by FTP it fails an, when looking on the site, I can't even find an upload button.

My sales have tanked there - dropped by 80% in the last two month - so in amongst all the 'good news' that results in a massive earnings drop, did they also stop the uploading again?

17
Along time ago I downloaded and tried StockSubmitter, but gave up as I found it clunky and not particularly user friendly.

Everyone bangs on about how great it is, and I don't mind paying for a service to improve my workflow, so I thought I'd give it another go.

It won't keep me logged in to either Fotolia/Adobe or Shutterstock, and a box pops up every few minutes forcing me to log back in. I read in the instructions that I should log in first time through a private browsing window, and I've tried that but it hasn't helped.

I got a message telling me a title was too long, so I changed this and saved, then I get a message saying my files could not be 'renamed or uploaded from other PC' for Alamy and 123rf and I can't submit them. What does this even mean? (I'm using a Mac)

For Fotolia/Adobe I get a message saying 'unable to parse results during submissions for images'.

It's taken me about 2 hours to try and upload 2 images to 7 sites and I still have to go in and manually submit those that have failed and, unless someone can convince me it's worth persevering, I'm ready to give up as I did last time.

Has anyone any suggestion that can help me figure this out? Alternatively is there a more user friendly product out there that can do the job in a more streamlined fashion?

Image Sleuth / Stolen images.
« on: December 29, 2018, 18:58 »
I was just reading a post on Shutterstock about a suspected image thief, and started poking around his portfolio to see if I recognised anything.

Clicking on a random image showed similars, and it looks as if he took this image and flipped it

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/beautiful-waterfall-1268058418

from this contributor:

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/beautiful-waterfall-landscape-1138139069

The second contributor suspiciously had a couple of pages of very nice images with very poor titles, as if he didn't actually know where the location was, so I clicked on one of his images and he'd also taken an image from another contributor and flipped it.

This images was taken

Please check both of these ports and see if they contain any of your images

Software / Mac Mojave problem with keywords.
« on: December 29, 2018, 09:44 »
I recently updated my Mac to Mojave and I'm now having a problem seeing all my keywords for a file.

I used to be able to right click an image and 'Get Info', which meant I could easily copy and paste keywords if I wanted the same set for a new image. Now I find the window is only showing me the first 8-10 words then saying 'and 40 more'. I can see those words if I hover over, but I can't copy and paste the selection.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can fix this?

20
Just want to check that it's just an expired certificate and not a problem at my end.

Thanks

iStockPhoto.com / Problems with ESP access?
« on: June 18, 2018, 11:53 »
I keep getting a 'too many redirects' message and haven't been able to log in all day. Anyone else having problems or is it just me?

I got an abnormally large sale and can't figure it out. On the earnings page it's shown only as a Credit sale, but I've never seen anything this big before.

I'm hoping it's correct but fear it may be an error, and it will suddenly lose a couple of 00s.

Anyone else seeing any anomalies?

Shutterstock.com / Is there a problem on Shutterstock today?
« on: January 12, 2018, 12:24 »
I know everything has slowed down there a lot over the last 18 months, but I've gone from average 80 downloads per day to around 40. Today is 7? Also, my Stockperformer won't download any information for Shutterstock today, which makes me wonder if there are site problems?
