I can report two subscription sale refunds in one day with 123clawback. This is while my total hovers at $49. Refunds appear to be a popular action with this agency. I'd keep an eye on them.

My apologies. I know this is a bit of a stretch. But on the subject of "getting new equipment" is anyone selling HD anymore and how much longer do you think 4K will run before it joins the HD archives museum?

I would also dismiss Depositphoto. Their payout is decent at $50 unlike Dreamstime at $100. Something to consider if you're just starting out but you rarely get anything more than their standard $0.31us. My last 30 sales ranging from "small" to "extra large" and "subscription" to "on demand" are the standard $0.31us. They pocket the profit but they don't reward the supplier.

Not to mention the SS dangled a carrot in front of our noses a few years ago promising that if you work your butts off and sell more images your commission would rise and the minimum payout would increase from $0.33 to $0.36us and so on. They obviously thought their trained monkeys could easily be manipulated. Hence the $0.10us minimum.

Maybe I just have respect to my self ...
No sweetheart. If you work with the SS you're an amateur. Pure and simple.

I've been in this business for more than 10 years and when I started no agency gave contributors less than $0.30 commission for a sale. That changed about 5 years ago when 123RF, IStuck, Fotolia and other major agencies dropped commissions to as little as $0.19us. And did it hurt their business and contributor participation? No. Did Shutterstock take notice? Of course they did. If the trend in the microstock business is $0.15us commission, then that will be the benchmark for all agencies. Shutterstock, like other agencies assume that the vast majority of contributors have no benchmark. We'll accept whatever pittance the agency doles out. Frankly, I stopped submitting to any agency that thought my body of work was worth less than $0.30us. Thank goodness a benchmark has been found and we are finally united......

Dreamstime was the first agency I joined more than a decade ago. I've always felt that I've been treated fairly. It's always felt like a partnership since day one.

IF you're willing to submit your clip to an agency with its' specific stated terms then stop your whining. You agreed to the terms. If you don't like the terms, remove your footage.

Pure and simple, the virus is the result of 8 billion humans crowded on a very small, blue planet. And what's the answer? Live a more orderly, safe lifestyle so we can try to handle 16 billion people? 20 billion? As long as we think we can continue to consume and expand and take, Mother Nature will try to interject and balance the negative effects we're having on this planet.

Nice at least to see someone share my own frustrations. I've written Dreamstime with no response so they literally don't give a *. And I found a "work-around" submitting to Depositphoto. Agencies are wearing me down. I've been submitting now for 10 years+ and the motivation for continuing is razor thin. If they aren't dropping commissions, rejecting perfectly good images, ignoring problems with their own infrastructure, changing rules, changing site protocol, never consulting with photographers, etc.....and its much worse now. What then is the motivation for working with companies that have no respect for their suppliers?

Me too! MSG down but not out! A lot of chaos out there recently. But not all bad. SS sales shifting into high gear while DP can't seem to upload files. Very bumpy kind of start to 2020!

My guess is that the rejections are random or made by evolving deep learning AI.
....and I'm assuming your submissions are 4K? The Microstock Poll Results are shocking and its directly attributed to changing SS behavior that began about a year ago. Someone said,"We're getting way too many submissions!" And everyone listened to the one who responded, "Why don't we start rejecting more?"

From my perspective the real damage came in the form of HD sales which has, for the most part, dropped off the cliff. And visiting the SS site its no wonder. The emphasis is on 4K. The first few pages are always saturated with 4K clips with a few HD clips scattered in the pack. The transition from HD to 4K is hurting SS more than other top agencies, IMO.

Rejections have become far less predictable. Weekends used to be my time for "out of focus" and "poor composition". Now it can come anytime. I should also point out that the SS now includes clips on the sales map which, IMO, makes for a nice addition.

Realistically....how many are you going to sell the image? Trying to be as objective as I can, if it isn't going to sell more than a handful of times, why bother?

Crazy, Tyson. Beautifully done. I've spent enough years as a videographer to appreciate a well-cut presentation. Is editing your background? Good choice of pace, music and composition. That was a lot of work. What's the plans for the show? IMO, I'd enter it. Lots of film competitions around the world worth submitting to.....

[... I would call that dishonest myself, but I will say that when I worked for the NHS information for patients had to be written so that a ten year old could read it, maybe they could follow that example.
That has changed. For example my sister was recently told she had 'deterioration of the foot' (sounds like 'footrot'!)
....personally, if it were me, I'd prefer deterioration of the foot. I hope she's able to recover. Not a bad month but that had everything to do with one particular SS sale that netted me $125.00. Better than last November and better than November, 2017....by $0.24. HD sales are dwindling.

Anyway this past weekend, after getting a couple dozen other public lands videos from my Nevada trip accepted without property releases, I re-uploaded and resubmitted all of the previously rejected Beaver Dam State Park videos. As of this morning, they are all accepted.
So all's well that ends well. I guess.
IMO it'll only "end well" if you enjoy some sales. Far too much incompetence to have to contend with. Good luck with the submissions.

I started with dt in 2012 and I am now at 85 usd, 2 more years for pay out
A completely pointless post. If you have 2 images with DT, that's pretty impressive. If you have 10,000 images with DT, it's terrible.....

Since I have read things like this in this forum, ........ If you do not know English well, do not use irony..... or in my comments, recommend that you do not use the google translator, because my intention to participate in this forum is not valued,...... I decided to leave the comments for the usual four others and simply read, as 99% of the users of this forum do.
That said, I entered here probably the last time, because I liked your approach. I simply want to add, that today, it is more expensive for the websites to delete the files. The price of keeping them in the server is null for the storage capacity of these days. Deleting files is laborious and costs money.
Deleting files could be fast and easy if they simply delete unsold files after ___ years.
Isn't that something Dreamstime tried a few years ago? They dropped that approach so I assume it didn't work.

A topic for us "oldtimers". Dreamstime was my first agency as well nine years ago. There's a nostalgic motivation staying with them but they also provide steady sales throughout the years. A minor earner but always predictable with frequent commissions in the dollar category as opposed to the penny offerings.....Personally, I would think if they simplified things for the buyer. Use far fewer categories they could improve sales.

I had difficulty with SS when I tried to cut and paste keywords and it displayed one long line instead of individual words. The solution was to paste in the appropriate box and then click on the three dots to the right of the box....that seemed to work for me.

Good post.
Any agency paying less than $0.30 rate. Hence:
321RF and Istuck
These are agencies I no longer submit to but still retain the submitted images in case, somewhere down the road, they start treating their partners with a little more fairness and respect. I'll then consider re-starting submitting if they meet my requirements.
