Just had a sale on Pond5 with a pretty good commission - which will be missed if the new owner starts meddling with royalties.

Which they will its in their DNA  :(

Actually all this discussion of big 4 down to big 3 reminds me of those documentaries I used to see showing the waterhole on the African savannah steadily shrinking in summer and the wildlife getting more desparate as the water source slowly shrinks to a muddy puddle.

I think we can safely say we are at the muddy puddle stage and the hyenas are circling with promises of more "exciting news"  ;D

But at least they are letting people know well in advance.

Agencies will change over time, but if they communicate clearly it really helps.

Now those that want to, can make an extra effort getting files online.

And perhaps they will reconsider and come up with another bonus special.

Seriously?  :o As to a new bonus that will never happen.

Yeah of course....

Email received today
"Were changing the way we share revenue from inactive Elements subscribers

Hi there,

We are announcing an important change to the way that we share revenue from some Elements subscribers.

Until now, weve used 50% of the revenue from inactive Elements subscribers (subscribers who dont license any items in a given month) to fund different content creation programs and Author incentives. The most significant of these programs and incentives has been the Content Bonus.

Weve recently been taking a closer look at how we can update our strategic focus. As part of this, we have reviewed these programs and have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Content Bonus and the sharing of revenue from inactive subscribers in this way.

The Content Bonus was introduced to help support Authors in their decision to join Elements. It provided a boost to earnings and helped us grow our library by rewarding Authors who publish regularly.

Now, 6 years on, we have over 5,000 Authors on Elements and our publishing rate has grown strongly over time. With over 10 million items, Envato Elements has one of the largest libraries of any unlimited creative content subscription service in the world.

This success, driven by our talented Author community and the high quality content we feature on Elements, means we have more and more subscribers signing up every day.

More subscribers equal more earnings for Elements Authors. In fact, the earnings we pay to our Elements Author community has more than doubled in the last 2 years alone.

We believe funds previously provided for the Content Bonus are better invested in continuing to attract, retain, and grow even more subscribers. These investments will help to secure a strong future for Elements and ultimately benefit Authors by increasing the overall amount and flow of future earnings.

We know that the Content Bonus represents a much anticipated component of many Authors incomes each month, so were providing as much notice as possible to allow you time to prepare for this change.

The last payment of the Content Bonus will be in September 2022 (covering the July earning month).

It is important to note that these changes do not impact our 50% subscriber share model. Our subscriber share model remains one of the most equitable and community-oriented in the industry.

If you have any questions about this decision, head over to our forums and join the discussion here.

Usual corporate bollox

Stan Pavlovsky has a new CEO gig. Luckily for us, it's not with a company in the stock licensing business :)

Seriously why do you post this stuff just to cause an argument?

There are no "haters" you deliberately seem to relish causing an argument.

Considering noone bothered to respond to this thread in 5 days then you come along and try and re-ignite the thread with a self pitying diatribe.

The simplest answer is don't upload anything to that outfit.

Why worry about the lost 10 cents?

Correction "shutterstock AI" is rejecting photos left and right, and often with mistakes.

and all for 10 whole cents!  :(

I've just asked SS help and got the answer that there is no AI doing the reviews, it's all done by humans.

Contrary to what shutterstock's owners previously stated.

Anyway SS help is manned by other contributors and they aren't party to the inner workings of SS

Edited May 3 to note that Stan Pavlovsky resigned as CEO April 27th, effective May 3rd. Jon Oringer is interim CEO until they find someone.

THANK YOU Jo Ann you really cheered me up this morning!  :-*

I stopped picking up the camera in Jan. 2021 these days I look for real work.

Still going after Canva's business, but Canva has a completely free tier which I don't think SS has. Stan talks about SS being able to broaden its presence beyond the content selection phase of projects.

But Shutterstock bought out a lot of content from contributors last year, with lump sum payments up front, but no further right to any royalties going forward. Presumably, this was why.

I don't recall seeing anything about lump sum payments where was that announced?

« on: April 02, 2022, 01:10 »
I had several of these today. I'll be opting out of all distribution in april and I hope more people will do the same.
I'll be opting out of China; but I suspect if we all do it, we'll all be opted in, like we were into what used to be the 'UK Newspaper Scheme', which used to be opt-outable of.

I opted out of china years ago and they still sold my images to china.  They apologised and promised 100% of the pennies the sales earned.

Still waiting for the refund  :-\

I'd be happy with anything that took business away from shittystock  ;D

For all of you Russian haters, your lovely Israeli guy has spoken:

https://www.thedailystar.net/news/world/2022-russian-invasion-ukraine/news/zelensky-softening-stance-says-no-longer-pressing-ukraines-nato-membership-2978616

How can he be an Israeli? I thought you said he was a Nazi?

Jewish if you will. Happy?

Your comments are filthy and you sound just like those idiots on RT comments  always screaming about jew this and jewws running the world and jew-America and how hitler was right.

If you are an example of how russians think these days then your country is lost.

You are either a complete idiot or a nasty fascist and a disgrace to humanity.

I really think Leaf needs to block you and close this thread

Ukraine has no allies in the West. All these ridiculous demonstrative support is just for the sake of PR. All collected charitable money will be stolen and all weapons sent will be lost. Such a country...

Russia will continue to function. The people will live freed from the western husk. McDonald's and KFC are gone. Will they worry about it when there is borscht and fried potatoes?

Most likely, after a few years of recession, we will get a strong country with a developed economy. Don't forget, there are very talented people in Russia, and if they are squeezed into a corner, they are capable of miracles.

Oh look another Putin Kool Aid drinker ~ dream on buddy  ::)

Bombarding civil population . War crimes committed by him and his generals are already being recognized by Europe and US. He will be soon on the list of war criminals, like Milosevic was. His corner is everyday smaller. It is already too late for him to back out of this mess. He is a miserable dictator that will pay sooner than later for his crimes.

Except only in Ukraine they are killing civilians. 13.000 of them. Your evidence of the genocide? Let's say he is guilty of: Native Americans genocide, Aborigines genocide, Colonialism, WW1, WW2, atomic bombs, Vietnam, slavery. Are you good now?

Man you are sick. You don't have any single proof. You are a liar and blinded by enormous hate. Europe and US have much more war criminals, the real ones, not imaginary. Putin enjoys since his plan is working. Nobody will beat Russia. Never. Eve are you crying now?

Nobody will beat Russia? Except Putin and his mafia gangster chums have Russians under their thumb  ::)

Just like the old soviet days  ;D

« on: March 06, 2022, 12:53 »
... you compare my only mistake with a tons of lies from the US?

Nah, that's not just your "only" mistake. It's a representative mistake.
It only shows how gullible and incapable to filter facts from fiction you are.

The person in your video cannot be more wrong.

The whole premise in his "expose" is wrong.
It's not NATO or "us", the Americans who "expanded" into Eastern Europe.
It was the free will of democractic countries who voted to join an alliance able to guarantee their integrity, because they anticipated potential Russian aggressions, like the one we are witnessing now, in Ukraine. These countries simply learned from history to fear Russian imperialism.
None of this countries wanted to remain under the "Russian influence" anymore. 45 lost years were more than enough.

Besides, even Stalin had his admirers in Western Europe, people fooled by his propaganda, the same way you are fooled today, by another ruthless dictator.

My only mistake against your whole wrong narrative. You didn't listen to that person. John Joseph Mearsheimer has been described as the most influential realist of his generation. But nah you know it all. So, this mister explained everything, especially how America expand NATO to the east.

When we talking about aggression, do we really need to go through this again? Serbia, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Venezuela, Cuba, etc. That is true imperialism. Listen again this "person", this time do it slowly so you could understand, ok?

Serbia ~ to stop Serbs murdering Croats and carrying on in genocidal fashion

Libya to help Libyans get rid of a murderous dictator

Syria to get rid of the murderous ISIS gang (while Russia propped up the equally murderous Syrian regime by bombing innocent Syrian civilians)

Afghanistan ~ murderous Al-Qaeda and their murderous allies the Taliban (of course Russia also invaded Afghanistan too in 1979 to 1989 creating the whole sh-it show)

Vietnam to stop yet another murderous regime from forceably imposing their will on the South.

Cambodia ~ big mistake see Vietnam above

Venezuela, Cuba, well the latter two haven't been invaded

You didn't mention Iraq ~ yes yet another murderous dictator who invaded Iran and Kuwait and got kicked

Of course Russia ever the peaceful ~ Georgia, Chechnya, Crimea, Eastern Ukraine, Hungary twice, helping the lunatic Koreans, now threatening Finland too

You aren't too good after drinking Putin's kool aid.

Lie #1: Serbia - theres no Croats in Serbia, Croats live in Croatia
Lie #2: Libya: Gaddafi also nationalized Libyan oil sector which used to be run by American. That was a big mistake
Lie #3: Syria: To get ISIS on the throne, luckily Russians intervene
Lie #4: Afghanistan: to defeat Talibans created by America
Lie #5: Vietnam: to defeat communism and to be defeated by Vietnam
Lie #6: Venezuela: sanctions and the oil reserves
Lie #7: Iraq: Oil and to get rid off dictator set by Americans

You are that blind? But I understand, if your IQ is 35 this is all you got.

Love throwing insults around don't you? Everything you just typed above is a lie

Idiot  ::)
