Bigstock has suspended uploading until 03/31. Just after hiring more reviewer and promising to never suspend uploading.

It is very hard to keep faith in this type of business practice! >:( :( :(

General Stock Discussion / Decision on Next Agency
« on: February 19, 2008, 09:49 »
I currently submit to DT,SS, BS, FT.  I am interested in the next agency and want it to be the correct choice.

At the moment I am leaning to IS, but am bother by the 25% payout.

Any other suggestion and why are welcome. Thanks

Bigstock.com / Re: Review times with BigStock?
« on: February 19, 2008, 08:58 »
Bigstock needs reviewers, they must have only one or two.

I don't know why they even review images! I just look at recently approved images and saw 20-30 images of the same model and background. Talk about overkill!! Too many similar images.

Bigstock start rejecting some the hopeless ones and countless images of the same ugly baby. It is time to tightness-up and put a brake on the mindless submissions!

You can put a gorilla in a business suit, but you not have a CEO.

Why is it that every monkey who buys a camera thinks they are a photographer? ::)

Dreamstime.com / Are Micro Becoming Little Macro?
« on: January 29, 2008, 11:43 »
Interesting discussion going on at Dreamstime!
A photographer asked why their downloads were declining and the thread was removed. After complaining the thread was reposted.

Achilles answered with this message.
[Quoted Message:
I am losing database exposure, I am far from being a pro and my skills are lower and lower compared to the average Dreamstime photographer nowadays, etc. My downloads/image continue to decrease as better content is submitted by other members. The quality of the database keeps on growing. Rjmiz depicted very well the need to shoot better and more in one of his recent threads. It's not the agency that has to pick up the sales for you, it is your portfolio that must pick up the buyers. And there is no better bribe than great stock in huge amounts ;)

One year or two ago you needed over 1,000 images to enter the Top 10 contributors, right now you need 5,000 images. It's all about competition and not about less downloads at database level. We break new records each day and far from seeing any sign of stagnation but these are factors an amateur photographer should be aware of. ]

Since I started this thread I have 12 DL. Not many but the pay is better than other agencies.

The number of visitors is frighten low but they are buyers.

I like BigStock style and I hope they keeps moving up. Just maybe the cheap agencies will have start paying better.

DT is in the tank for January. Download are less than half of December an no subscription DL at all!

Is anyone else experiencing a drop at DT?

If your competitor approval time is 24-48 hours and your is 8 plus days, you lose.

If your competitor generates more downloads, you lose.

If your competitor provide more earns, you lose.

If your competitor treats submitter better than you, you lose.

2 years ago DT was very fast on approval times, now this are dead last, even behind BS!

DT should take care of the submitter who bought them to the dance!
Micro all want to brag on the number of images on file or how many submitters. Quality beats Quantity evertime. The better Micros will learn this as this business matures.

I think DT is one of the better Micros .They are innovator in the business, but 8 day approval time is far below Micro industry standards.

Photo Critique / Re: Critique my landscape photos?
« on: January 04, 2008, 12:44 »
Your composition needs improving.

The magic hours are the best time to shoot landscape. Bring a tripod, have patience and wait for the absolute best lighting.

Landscape photography is extremely competitive and your photography must be exceptional.

111
Lack of composition, the image has no impact.
Z3 image, the elements are flowing in the wrong direction.

Z2 image, is cropped too tight and without an element in the forground to give depth to the subject.

Z1 image, photos of flowers are over submitted.  Submit flowers only if there is a strong composition, impact, or exceptional image, not an under exposed image without quality.

Istock is very tough to get approved. Study what is being accepted an focus your efforts.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Approval Frustrations over recent weeks at DT
« on: December 28, 2007, 09:40 »
Spend more time learning, shooting and less time in the chat group!

113
Thanks to everyone for their input.

The high rate of acception of images is a great concern. Too many similar images seem to clutter the site.

What got my attention was recently 17 images accepted of the same ugly baby. Maybe 3 or 4 and that would still be overkill.

I will continue to submit images and give it more time to determine if it is the Bigstock or a Big Sock.

Adobe Stock / Re: Poor week...

FT give me the largest amount of rejects and the least amount of sales.  They are going down!

Is it time to remove them from the Big 6?

Bigstock.com / Is anyone have sucess selling image on bigstock.
« on: December 12, 2007, 13:18 »
I recently join Bigstock and am uploading stock images. The slow approval process is a drag.

I am interested to know how sales are and if it worth my time? I have about fifty image up at this time and more pending.

I have the same problem with FT. Very slow sales and a very large percentage of rejects. I am uploading less to FT because the viewers seem eratic and without logic.

It is called dilution!
More shooters and more images equal to less download per individual.
The last count was over 25,000 photographers.
