For future reference, is there a place you would post updates if the site is down for a while? Facebook? Tweets?
Yeah, I generally post updates on both twitter and the facebook page. This morning I got it fixed right after I found out about the problem so I didn't make any big announcements. If it would have taken more than a few minutes I would have posted an update.

MicrostockGroup was down for a couple hours last night (night for me). It was a database error which is fixed now so we should be up and running again. I'll check into it more so hopefully this doesn't happen again.

I got a few of those as well. Like Shiyali said, YAY is the best when it comes to how they deal with their partner programs. They are very open about who they are partnering with, show you the percentages they get from the partner and you get from YAY and allow you to opt out on a per-agency basis. You can't ask for much more than that.
That said, the info for that partner lists sales prices as much higher that 0.15 - It looks like the info for them is a little off.
It looks to me that for subscription sites they list the price of the subscriptions, which is nice to know if we want to see if a certain partner site is trying to undercut the competition. But some additional information on what we should expect per download would be helpful as well. (Yay, are you reading )
Ah yes, I think you are right. I guess it gives a rough guideline about how they are setting their prices. It depends a lot on how long the subscription runs, the size of image, the licensing included and how many pictures/day the buyer gets though... .. but yes, a rough guide.

Hi Gents.
I have an event and i need a portable instant printer to print the images i take with my canon 5D.
Which printer you recommend?
Many thanks.
how portable does it have to be? Most good inkjet printers are small enough to put in the back of a car and put on a table somewhere.

I think one problem with having a central system or person sending an official take down notices is that they have to be sent by the copyright owner themselves. I once notified fotolia of an infringing account and they told me to notify the original artist so that he could send the copyright infringement himself. It didn't help that I pointed out the problem to them.
Perhaps a reasonable alternative would be to simply have a page with appropriate links to contact the various agencies (where to send the takedown notice) and other usefull links so that if someone found their images stolen they could take the necessary steps to get the images taken down without doing a full days research of what they need to do.

Update! POSITIVE. I finally solved the problem. It was a URL rewriting problem that was messing up the queries. I must have my rewrite rules wrong or misapplied. After this fix I'm going to try to sum up and get this thing released.
Congrats on figuring it out. It is always such a feeling of accomplishment when you reach that place Looking forward to giving this a test drive!

Ok, I'm going to lock this thread now as it appears to just be 'scaring' people or giving the wrong impression - which was not the intent.
There isn't a problem with 99.99999% of the people's voting habits. If someone is making insulting posts.. give them negatives.. if you don't agree with someone, give them a negative it isn't a big deal. If you like what someone says, give them a heart and if you vote the same person up or down 5 times in a row that is OK too.
Continue as normal... nothing to see here.

I know you asked about Danish mva .. but if it is at all like Norwegian I can help a bit. I did quite a bit of searching on the subject and found some examples on the Norwegian government pages. They had a Q&A page where someone asked about earnings for maknig apps sold through apple itunes and the royalties there. I felt it was pretty synomous to microstock income. This is what was written Jeg mottar inntekter fra Apple/iTunes som betaling for salg av applikasjoner.
For omsetning fr denne dato gjelder tidligere regelverk.

Hi Leaf, I read here a lot, but don't write often.
For some reason, I don't see a way to vote on posts. I am sure my vote privs were never revoked, maybe I haven't posted enough to be able to vote yet?
You need to make 5 posts before you can vote.. you should be able to do so now. @Lisafx - I'm not talking about agreeing a lot with someone and often giving them hearts.. I'm referring to situations where someone is giving a minus to every single post another member makes.. no matter what they say, simply to bring them down. .. In other words, if you are just voting posts up or down because agree or disagree you have nothing to worry about.

And for what reason should somebody do that? Why "vendetta"?
Sometimes discussions get a bit heated on a topic and people get angry with each other. Not being grown up, some of the members keep a grudge and target one or more of the parties in other threads thereafter and try to "bring him/her down" by just minusing everything the person post = vendetta. Very childish, but unfortunately not uncommon on a platform like with MSG with many members and diverse personalities (disorders?).
yes, quite well explained

It appears some members of the forum have a voting vendetta going. Voting every post of another member down (or up) without regard for what is written. If you are seen doing this, your voting privileges will be revoked.

On the other hand, it does lead to yet another curios . where on earth do all these downloads actually get used?
Yes, on earth.
It all depends on you. Your costs, your subject, your production rate, etc. Don't judge yourself by Yuri or anyone else.
... and a lot of them don't get used. Microstock is so cheap that a designer can purchase several images and only use the one that works the best. When they are on subscriptions they can just download everything that looks good and use what works when they are putting their project together.

Yuri has been quoted saying his RPI was $5.00 .. and many anti-microstockers love to jump on that assuming it is per year. He has said however it was per month. That was a few years ago now.. who knows what it is now.

In answer to the last part of your question, it is impossible to know if the they are accutate or not. We just have to rely on the honesty of the members that participate.
^^ Right. And even if it were accurate as an average, results do vary between artists depending on what you shoot, how good you are aligned to buyer needs, volume, differentiation, etc. It's a good indicator is all.
exactly. and yes, the results are primarily for photographer. Illustrators and videographers would have a very different set of results.

I didnt insult anyone, also what is wrong with my post about IS being like NK? If you remove that comment, you can remove half of this forum. IMO.
I removed your post because that is what started the whole back and forth spat. It didn't add any crucial info to the conversation and as bringing in political debate to a thread always ends in trouble I thought it was best to remove it as well.

I generally shy away from any microstock agency who is using a simple script to run their website. The scripts (ktools and cmsaccount) are great for individual contributors to set up their own little sales platform but for an agency to succeed they need more than a script and a few hundred $$. If they can't afford a custom programmer and designed site it begs the question of how much they have for advertising and creating a successful site.
This site is running cmsaccount.

SS (net income) ($ M)
- 2009 (18,842) - 2010 (18,938) - 2011 (21,864) - 2012 (47,500)
(http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1549346/000104746912005905/a2209364zs-1.htm) (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/shutterstock-reports-fourth-quarter-full-210500878.html)
Man I didn't realize Shutterstock's net income was 47 BILLLION dollars last year. High fives all around!
those are commas my friend
($ M) means millions right?
not BI
Yeah 47,500 million. Like you wrote. That's the same as 47.5 BILLION.
Not sure how we all got confused.. check out the link that Luis posted. Shutterstock's net income is not in the billions. It is in the millions. http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1549346/000104746912005905/a2209364zs-1.htmThe full amounts without any abbreviation are... 2009: $18,842,000 2010: $18,938,000 2011: $21,864,000 Perhaps it's also confusing that some countries use commas, where others use a decimal.
