Hi all, hi Matt

I've got an invitation to use DALL-E. DALLE is a new AI system that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language : https://openai.com/dall-e-2/

It gives really impressive results !

According to terms of use, i own the content generated by this AI and can even sell it.Is it possible to include this kind of element in my images and submit as stock ?

Terms of use : https://labs.openai.com/policies/terms

Regards,
Thomas

Good question. Mind I add another question? Will the AI generate the same result if both queries are the same?

Say for example, "Husky dog riding on a rocket flying to moon". And if both results are identical, who are there to judge who owns it?

From my testing it creates a different result every time

I think there will still be a place for a human design or illustrator - we need someone to pick what is good or not, or what fits with a project that is being put together, but the original artist is certainly going to take a hit.  When doing a design project recently I was purchasing stock photos and had I had the opportunity to use Dall e2 to create the content I would have.  I thought that exact thought and tried to get access but no such luck.

Shutterstock.com / Unpaid Eearnings not being paid out
« on: April 08, 2022, 07:11 »
Is it just me or do other people have unpaid earnings that aren't being automatically paid out?  I usually just let Shutterstock earnings and their automatic payout run it's course but I just realized I haven't been paid in a while and have earnings sitting on the SS site that should have been paid out.  Anyone else see the same?

Off Topic / Re: Russian photographers should be banned!
« on: March 07, 2022, 05:17 »
Please keep the discussion civil.  I'm not going to ban someone or remove the topic because someone has a very unpopular suggestion/idea/ viewpoint. We still need to speeak with respect on both sides however.

Keeping this thread simply shows how many people are opposing such an idea (banning Russian photographers) and how unpopular the original suggestion / viewpoint is.

The strange thing is that it only shows up in Firefox I think (perhaps safari too?) It doesn't show up in Chrome or microsoft edge

I've done a thorough hunt several times for the code but didn't find it.  It should be a simple thing but it's hidden somewhere.  Thankfully i can see that no one has sent any money there.

Agreed - if I could figure out how to get rid of it, I would :(

thanks for the reminder.  I've removed them now.  They'll disappear from the sidebar shortly.

Would be exciting if there was.  Seems like the perfect tech to power the stock photo industry, but you still need someone to build the back end and money to advertise.  Those need to be funded as well.

I guess I should change my vote then??

I have decided to accept Octopus as a pet. I'm wrong, SS has AI in file monitoring.
A mistake on my part, sorry. I was confused, the night confuses me.
SS has AI in file exams.

Perhaps this user is an AI.. or getting text from ai.. :)
Very funny lol :)

Newbie Discussion / Re: why can't I start a new thread?
« on: June 11, 2020, 16:25 »
Hi!

Can anyone explain how I can insert a picture and a link into my new thread? I'm newbie, I can create a text, but when I place a link it is not active so other users cannot click it. How I can solve this problem?

Thanks!

You need to make more posts before your links are active.

I have maintained accurate records of microstock sales and several statistics including RPDL since I started in 2009.  For me, average RPDL of SS for all of last year was $0.92.  The highest ever was 2017 at $1.36 and the lowest was 2009 at $0.32.  So far this month it is $0.26.  Average number of sales per month peaked for me in 2014 and declined to about 45% of the peak last year.  The complicated presentation of the OP makes no sense to me and could be skewed by a few high-value sales.  My numbers so far this month have RPDL lower than it was when I started in 2009.  Of course that will change if I get some ELs or high-value SODs but the highest I've had so far this month is $2.50 so am not expecting much of a change.  RPDL of $0.26 is the lowest of all the agencies I contribute to right now, with the exception of Canva which was only $0.20 after their change last month (I am not counting their bonus payments which will go away in five months).  The SS RPDL will be even lower when we all drop down to level 1 in January - at that point it will be the worst of all the agencies (even iS!) and that is a fact.

Thanks for the good stats.

I've removed two posts that were nothing more than shouting insults.  If we are going to discuss something, then we need to discuss it - not fire insults back and forth.

Regarding to subscription sales, that always was main sale; we never was paid based on the subscription package that buyer buy. There are 4 subscrption packetes:

10 images for 49usd (Packet 1 or P1)
50 images for 125usd (Packet 2 or P2)
350 images for 199usd (Packet 3 or P3)
750 images for 249usd (Packet 4 or P4)

Based on this and the % presented for SS the earnings per sale under new criteria is:

Level 1   0,74 usd(P1) ---- 0,38 usd(P2) ---- 0,09 usd(P3) ---- 0,05 usd(P4)
Level 2   0,98 usd(P1) ---- 0,50 usd(P2) ---- 0,11 usd(P3) ---- 0,07 usd(P4)
Level 3   1,23 usd(P1) ---- 0,63 usd(P2) ---- 0,14 usd(P3) ---- 0,08 usd(P4)
Level 4   1,47 usd(P1) ---- 0,75 usd(P2) ---- 0,17 usd(P3) ---- 0,10 usd(P4)
Level 5   1,72 usd(P1) ---- 0,88 usd(P2) ---- 0,20 usd(P3) ---- 0,12 usd(P4)
Level 6   1,96 usd(P1) ---- 1,00 usd(P2) ---- 0,23 usd(P3) ---- 0,13 usd(P4)
Thanks for the calculations. But it seems more complicated than that.

There is different pricing if it's monthly or annual subscription, and if the annual subscription is payed in advance or monthly. Further, if not all images are used in a month, the price per image will in reality be higher.

It doesn't matter if all images are used or not.  They have specified that if it is an image pack for $10 for 10 images, then our share is a % of $1.00 per image.  Even if only 1 image is downloaded.
