oic, i am surprised that happened to me firs time at my first sale in DP.
anyway, i wasn't get paid for uploading during their promotion, i was told by DP that i wasn't selected and so i didn't really upload my portfolio there. Because of the slow view and slow sales, and the $0.30 subs, i can deactivate my files and stop them from selling it immediately?

yes i got $0.30 for maybe 1 week or more then i suddenly saw the total sale is back to 0, and there is a folder 'returned sales' and got -$0.30, stating the reason is 'subscription was rejected' something like this. I really don't bother to check with them what is wrong but i mean things like that shouldn't happened no matter what, even credit card scam or something else, it should be deal with a better procedure rather than your sales can be gone anytime.

hi all, i got a returned sales of -$0.30, it means it deducted my only subs sales and back to $0 now.
i wonder what is that? someone returned my images because they don't like it after bought it?

i found the view is low and funny thing i got only 1 subs download $0.30, but it is deducted as returned sales, so back to $0... this is the first time i heard there is a returned sales..
it does has a hold up period for images like? 2 years? does it mean i can't close the account in 2 years based on the date of images i uploaded recently?

I think it's the old SUBS vs CREDITS issue... subs cost much less, but buyers must pay in advance and possibly will not use all available downloads; credits cost more but buyers pay as they go; subs appeal to large companies, credits to occasional buyers
not so weird to me
why they don't encourage to opt in all pictures, I don't know; maybe they believe it's better to sell some pictures only at higher price through IS - that makes sense for high quality pictures
but it is weird that same file got different price that sold through a same agency..

Hi guys, anyone is having a problem uploading zip vector to canstock?
the uploading system will show it is finished but there was a line of error message saying something xtml error, and the file is never been seen in 'unfinished' tab.
it is a zip file with eps and jpg with IPTC metadata. No problem uploading a zip vector before.

can anyone help to explain the difference of buying a same images that from istock and through partner program thinkstock?
I have a few files in old stockxpert account, and all are simple vectors that i let it run on thinkstock now.
I have a few files in istock and is available through partner program and got some $0.25 sales. But my common sense told me that i should not activate all my files in istock to partner program, because if every images in istock is available in thinkstock, why still buyers will buy from istock?
I don't get it, unless there is different license usage of buying in istock and thinkstock.
I remember istock advise to activate those images that haven't been sold for 2 years or something, so does it mean they don't encourage everyone to make every files available in thinkstock?
quite a strange strategy, i understand shutterstock got subs download and there are on demands and EL for some usage..but i don't understand what istock wants contributor to do.

any bigstock guys out there? isn't it important to make something for vector uploading that can read IPTC from preview jpg? the only 2 agency that don't read IPTC, bigstock and istock.
I am uploading some vectors and i have to sit hours and hours just to copy and paste IPTC from my jpg.

in this time of microstock trend, i think they should pay for accepted images.
I won't really be interested especially there are some websites (veer and zoonar) that are paying for accepted images in this period. Newbies that had is building portfolio, check out that two website.

I can't really understand what kind of strategy istock want to sell same thing in 2 prices.
Personally i had stopped to click the partner program option, i guess contributor may do so if there is some simple vector illustrations or images that you can sell at cheap price.

hi anyone got more experiences for this website? i got accepted with a contract through email. However i was awared of some discussion that the payment to contributors is really low, and there is a unlimited subscription download which i am not sure how is helped or exploited contributors.
In my email contract, there is an example:
Formula: Revenue is based upon total monthly downloads verses the total number of your downloads per customer. i.e. if a user downloads 33 images and 9 are your images, you will be entitled to 27% of the (40%) revenue split for this customer. If they paid an annual subscription of $239.00 US. The approximate monthly cost for September would be $18.33 and your revenue split for this customer would be approximately $2.00.
so it means the company 9 of your images is downloaded and you get paid by $2? doesn't sound very attractive deal.

Hi all, i have some questions about thinkstock, i had some simple vectors illustrations that with StockXpert so it is with thinkstock now and earning me like $14 a month.. so it means that portfolio will remain there with StockXpert and sell through thinkstock as long as we are around? I can withdrawn from StockXpert and the portfolio will still earn and i am still able to withdrawn if it meet the cash out amount?
If we clicked partner program for image in istock, those images will be sold in thinkstock as 25c too? it is quite strange for an agency to sell same images in istock price and thinkstock price.. or i miss out something?
anyway, i think thinkstock is like those shop that sell everything made in china with same price..they got their own market, but will never get quality images, but it still can happen through istock program, not everyone understand what partner program is.

hi anyone uploading esp vector to bigstock? bigstock is the only agency that doesn't read IPTC from a jpg preview or accept a zipped vector with jpg.
It will take a lot of time to upload eps to bigstock, are everyone just do it manually? or i am missing something?
i read that to embed IPTC to eps but it doesn't work on my illustrator and it increase workflow just for bigstock in this case.

it seems to me the first steps to get into some macro stock is camera requirements, like high MP camera. ... I'd be careful with that assessment. Rarely a photographer takes great picture "just" because of a "high MP" camera.
Of course the technical requirements will tell you what source material you can upload (or apply with) but in the end the content matters. The content is highly depending on your photographic skills and not just the camera itself.
I assume you would like to make a living off of photography judging from your motive of breaking into Macro agencies. I recommend to extensively analyze and prepare for that move before being shot down.
Gather all information you can get about every Macro agency that you're interested in. Try to establish some kind of communication that answers all your questions.
Some agencies won't even look at your pictures if you don't already have a portfolio of 2000 or more photos (and they surely won't consider your microstock images).
Think about it, you want to be taken seriously by the agency. They need to see that you are a motivated, successful photographer that will be an asset to their library. They are running a business as well and they rather accept photographers with larger portfolios than ones with only 50-200 pictures.
Naturally, there are exceptions to the rule.
Ya, I think camera skills are important, but i just mention out the camera MP will be as important as other conditions, i have used film camera but nowadays no agency are comfortable to accept scanned images..

I had a little sales in CanStockPhoto too, not too $20 plus, 96 files online mixed of illustration and photos. total 3 sales, each sale is average $4. However, all sales are illustrations of vectors, I realise vector illustrations are performed much better than general photos.

it seems to me the first steps to get into some macro stock is camera requirements, like high MP camera.
but it seems most agencies set a lot of requirements and one needs certain quanity of pictures to to get admission, some agencies will ask for a review of portfolio at website.
I guess seems like flickr collection of getty is the easiest way to get into macro?

Hi all,
I am looking into macrostock as it seems some pictures will sell better as macrostock..
anyway i have a lot of questions and would like to discuss.. here i will say what i had read over internet.
macrostock will sell RM and RF image..does it mean we can sell same RF image to macrostock and like shutterstock, istock?
i understand an image with RM license can be exclusive and non-exclusive, so can we sell a non-exclusive RM image over more than one macrostock agencies?
the major macrostock agencies are like corbis, getty and alamy..can we join them all and sell same non-exclusive RM photos on them?
it seems to me there are much more macrostock agencies like jupiterimages but it seems had sold the RM images to getty.. and how about Inmagine?myloupe.com.. what do you think of all these website? which macrostock agencies you will recommend?
hope you guys share your experiences! thanks.

I think zoonar deserve to get some acknowledgements just for it's uploading process. Even i have problem with the media download manager software, usually i just need to deleted the program folder in windows and re-install it and okay. But one thing can be improved is to show history of uploading, so most people knows what had been uploaded. I also find out that the search engine is a bit different, let's say you want to look for 'running track', if your keywords are 'running', 'track' then it won't be in the results. overall it is quite a nice website, and you can have a little shop to showcase your own photos. like this, http://www.zoonar.com/shop/mtkangmaybe i would like to see more statistics tool?

hi gaja and madelaide, check out deepmeta in istock website, you can download from their website application.
I used Irfanview and it works okay but it will remove any clipping path in jpg.
anyway, I also had problem for istock before that it won't read my IPTC, but then i found out the deepmeta and it is a must for istock, you can your 15 pictures one time..and the software will read IPTC and you can choose category and when everything is done, just upload through the software and that's all.
I never upload a lot when i was using the istock website interface, but deepmeta make it one go.

i really find it is quite difficult to understand why adobe can't handle IPTC well..
i found out that it seems the IPTC that i input through adobe is not saved with jpg, eventhought i can see the IPTC in bridge when i choose the file, and eventhough when i open the image in photoshop and check the file info, the IPTC is there.
what one can do is edit the file info by opening the photoshop and save it after editing or choose IPTC template then if you close the jpg, it will be asked to save the image and the IPTC data seems will stick when you upload to the website.
It seems doesn't work if you edit the IPTC in adobe bridge.. that's mean i can't process them by batch keywords in bridge.
hope some experts will correct me if i am wrong..

I am using CS3.. I edit by create metadata template, and populate to similar images in adobe bridge.
I really find it strange that it seems some images IPTC got read and some are not, i tried cutcaster, failed to read few images too.
I was using Irfanview before. However i have to switch to adobe bridge since Irfanview will remove clipping path! even just open the image with clipping path in Irfanview, the path will disappear.
