Very impressive. Signed

To be sure: will your import ignore "client galleries"? These photos should not be imported
HOw many photos includes plan for this invitation? I had a popup, but no amount mentioned

132
Do you keep free invitation for photodeck users how long? Please give more details here about the procedure of import and can you import thumbnails from photodeck directly?

134
The same - i didn't get how they will manage this, and they want to "import" images. For now i don't know do they want full size collection or not. If full size then no no. Another possible whole. Better their rep comes here for explanations.

2 SquirrelPower: yes middlemen were something useful to certain level. After they grew they treat their clients (here - contributors) as their victims. Costs of any serious project is grown crazy because of multiple levels of subcontracting, where companies and employees which do the job often paid nuts or even not paid at all. Situation in photo industry is the same. In the same time if you speak in person to such a middleman he will non stop demontrate his superiority to disgusting level.

Agencies when they sue copyright infringers, always do publishers to think. Yes, they have to calculate correctly their budgets, and have less hope that they will not be cought. Yesterday witnessed a case when one online newspaper published a short article illustrated with world's airport photos. In between of normal sized photos from different agencies there was a thumbnail screenshot with reference number from Alamy. In 30 min it was removed along with several other photos. Propably there was a person between editors who understand that such type of use can be costly.

OT: Alamy is not the worlds largest stock photo collection anymore?
Possibly but more than 65mil could be 80mill or something. In any case there is way way more variation at Alamy than in Shutterstock.

Or, maybe by saying "the largest stock photo colleciton" they mean photos and not images in general? Their database seems to be mostly photos, not too many vectors nor footage..

What is the difference between a photo and an image?

Every photo is an image, but not every image is a photo

I didn't plan to sell wedding photos, but i have a couple which signed releases for online selling. Luckily, they were people which know about photo stocks. For now i used these photos only for our presentation. Updated contract to give a space for notes on every option. With more space taken it looks like more clear and simple.

I expressed my opinion, don't see a reason to change it. This discussion is not interesting anymore. It is going out of discussion of legal agreements between clients, models, photographers, agreed usages etc. Good night

It is an option and i have people which signed it and are happy. If not signed then no use. Simple. Between clients also there are real models. And in difference from you i am not so aggressive against "colleagues"

For me model release is a part of a contract. I am not selling wedding photos, but for photographer promotion usage it is necessary and if they sign this option, i can use the photos. May be my contract is big (3 pages of text) and complicated, but it is better to have it.

Mobile for mobile, or for a small display/print. It cannot be compared with DSLR by quality, if not post-processed and downsized. Anyway, the main stop for me is typing on a small screen :-)

Yes of course. For example, in the French law it is mentioned that wedding is a public event, but photographer should not abuse or overuse it. For many people simple sharing on social networks is ok, but selling is not, even with a compensation.

In any case you have to have a record in your service contract signed, that they allow this. Due to work and life of some of my clients it is not possible to publish their wedding photos anywhere. Others don't mind. Mutual respect at first. Partial solution - photos where are no faces shown.

on Getty, didn't check iStock for a long time.
Some months ago i sent email to support, and it was not answered, as well as one email for previous issue, year ago

147
Bear in mind SS is a $425million a year business and Alamy is 14million ($20.5million) size wise it's like comparing McDonalds with a Mom & Pop burger bar.

Last I read Getty were $800million per year.

Apples and oranges
For me nothing to care, anyway my images are displayed on iS/getty, but "not available for sale", so i don't bother to upload

I contacted Alamy support several times last months, and they were very responsive, and helpful. Just to add here my thank you.

I am not a fan of their business model. Just no expectation for return. Deposits from buyers definetely can improve their responsibility and this is a normal practice on respectable freelancing sites.

Many of us will benefit now from this offer. Bad expectation is that less and less developers will think to digg into plugins/filters development, because they don't expect a compensation for the time and efforts.
