you can sell plenty of stock with a Gopro, but you have to have originality and know what your doing. Gopro obviously lends itself to certain types of shots only. For general shots where a decent camera can be used they are useless. I would say cheap action cameras and anything older the a Hero 4 are not worth using. You need to use the latest specs to your advantage.

My sales in the getty moments collection seem to now all be in the 1-3 dollar range, and because of the small exclusive portfolio it seems to be a very very low earner 10-15$ a month.
Am i doing something wrong or has getty dropped its rates (portfolio https://www.gettyimages.in/search/photographer?family=creative&photographer=amlan%20mathur#license)
What next, what other macro stock sites should i be looking at now, westend61 seems to be more of lifestyle pics for europe, I've been active on Alamy, what else.
I quit Getty macro and it'll probably cost me money in the short and long term. I've redistributed some of the photos on micro sites and the editorial majority to Alamy. I did this because despite the odd very decent sale, Getty sales had over the last couple of years, diminished to micro sales, but they had still retained strict exclusivity. Losing total control of your photos to an exclusive contract with Getty is inhibiting and I'd rather take a financial hit to gain control back over my images. As for Istock, any employer of Getty should be ashamed of the royalty % they pay contributors. There's very little in the way of ethics there. I'll miss the big sales but not the company ethos

Everyone needs to stop complaining, stop shooting and get a real job. Newbies, nothing to see here, move on and just take photos for fun

How much money should they now owe shareholders, clients and contributors for their day of negligence?

Does that mean Dissolve will need to update it's HD prices back to $79 for all those who sell both on VB and dissolve??
They will have to, no other option open to them

I think people will be leaving in their droves by now. Some keen newbies may jump on board for awhile just to try and get published and make a few dollars. Once they realize they can't make back expenses most of them will quit.

Microstock is dead, only masochists would be pursuing it going forward.

There's only one solution, everyone stop uploading! If QC eliminated NCV subject matter, similars and average content, the collection could be halved.

I can sometimes make $800-$1000 a (week)day with 10,000+ clips, but $200-$400 per day is more likely for me.
February, 2018 was my BME, averaging $5,000 per week during that month.
So, it can be achievable with hard work.
Who you are? Quentin Tarantino? Robert Rodriges? or one of The Wachowskis ?
I would not take the post seriously. Anyone making that much from stock would not be so stupid and naive as to share their financial results even if they had a good size ego.

I qualify but no email. Since I subscribe monthly to PS and PR, I doubt I'll get one. It's probably just a ploy to get new subscribers. Personally I think 50% ongoing discount would be an appropriate arrangement.

How come all the top stock footage creators I know of, don't seem to be blogging or vlogging, or on Instagram or anything else I know of.
Actually I think I know the answer...
Indeed - the vloggers are the ones barely earning $100 a month yet offering to teach newcomers their secrets. Great insights to be had there.
Don't forget that they also want to tell you how awesome BlackBox is...
So are 90% of vloggers doing youtube instructional videos because they can't make it at what they are giving instruction on? I'd estimate the majority of people doing stock video/photos are part timers many of whom struggle to make their expenses back. They will be the ones making continuous posts as well as sharing their sales info. Meanwhile the core of professionals actually making it work are heads down, and know better than to share their hard earned trade secrets and financial info for all comers.

Stock photos is the only viable option. Stock video is a very small market.

Ive got just bellow 2.000 pictures in shutterstock now. I earn aprox $40 dollars a month. I dont think I have a stellar portfolio, but its not terrible either. Id say the $1/year rule applies to all of the agencies together. I confess I am a bit bellow that, earning around $0,75 for the for an average of 1500 pictures at all agencies together. Dont know if Ill continue to increase my portfolio, to be honest. Too much work for little payback. br, Joao
That is actually a healthy RPI and above average. Anything newer than two years old will have a RPI of around $0.05 per year.

It doesn't surprise me either at all. It was good while it lasted. 50/50 is still decent although their membership/free stuff is spamming their system. If it brings more sales then a good move otherwise I'd stop uploading

It is possible if you upload 20,000+ images
20000 garbage photos maybe...no way 20000 good content all earn you 100 dollar month. i already told you...you have a big problem with quality, quantity won't help yu. that's hy you complain in every thread. if you need 75000 files to reach a 500 dollar level you should first stop uploading b...it...and focus on unity of content.
LOOOL, look who's talking about complaining in every thread.
jonbull and derek, Beavis and Butt-head of the microstock.
My thoughts exactly, I comment on very few threads, and don't mind adding a few tongue in cheek comments here and there. It cracks me up to see how earnest people get.

All agencies are completely dead. There is 0% reason for anyone to continue to upload videos or photos. To do so is a complete waste of time and money

Based on my own stats as a travel photographer, you'll need 75,000+ plus photos to achieve your goal

Yeah, me too. My best ever month from 2012 to 2017 was $389. My average for 2018 is $595, and I've made $909 already this month... with a week to go!
Please include thumbnails with your sales results so we know what to shoot!
