iStockPhoto.com / Re: iS Google ads

I've not seen it with IS but DT google ads pop up all the time on sites like cheezburger.com.

But I agree with the praise for Sean.  I've always liked the look of his work best.  And as a one-man show he's without peer.

Absolutely. Plus he's uniquely helpful and approachable too. Geniuses aren't supposed to be like that. Top man!

I guess everyone has their opinions, but for me sjlocke has proven himself as a bully who likes to bait newbies on this forum. He also has a inferiority complex to Yuri that is plainfully obvious. To each his own own I guess.
Why on earth would Sean have an inferiority complex with Yuri?  Sean is a one man show and might well be making more profit than Yuri.
As for the bullying I think he just gets tired of newbies coming in and expecting us to do their homework for them.  I often feel the same but just ignore them, Sean is more vocal about it.  It took us years to find the information that a lot of newbies want to come and get from us without putting the minimum of effort in themselves.  The competiition is getting stiff enough without making it too easy for others.

My vote goes to Sean as contributor I most admire and would like to be like.

Great news and because of that I will make sure that your site is one of the first to get my images in the future.

Image Sleuth / Re: How to recognize legal/illegal use?
« on: September 06, 2011, 03:00 »
Using the new image search I have found hundreds of illegal uses of my images.  Far too many for me to be able to do anything about it unless it is some big company worth going after. I would imagine that the stock agencies are getting inundated with illegal uses and just haven't got the resourses to chase them all up.

Canstock is one of the more easy site for uploading pictures!!! No categories, model release manager very useful, please don't change!!
I agree, it's one of the easiest.

Aha! There was a bit of speculation as to whose toes and who the model those might be! I'm pretty sure someone thought it was you and your husband, I will have to find out, they'll be excited to know they called it!

LOL I didn't think that there was anybody left in the stock world that can't instantly recognize Lisa's husband!! :)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Rejections at Dreamstime.
« on: September 02, 2011, 02:58 »
I rarely ever get a rejection at DT and when I do they are usually right, the same at Fot.
SS and IS sometimes reject something that I think they shouldn't.   At IS I try to improve it and give it another shot and at SS I usually put it through again a couple of weeks later and it gets accepted.  I think that I am harder on myself that the reviewers and am very careful about what upload.

General Stock Discussion / Re: August earnings
« on: September 01, 2011, 03:29 »
Fotolia was a complete and utter disaster making only 28% of last Augusts earnings. I used to be able to pay my house and car payments easily with my fotolia earnings now it only makes double what I make on Bigstock.
Other sites ok with SS and DT particularly good this month.

the host name is upload.dreamstime.com then you use your user name (not your user number) and your password. That should work.
thankyou :)

Have DT got FTP?????????????
I thought they didn't have ftp and always use Java which blocks everything else for me when I upload.

Yup they certainly do. I can't remember if you have to apply for a user name to access it or if it's just somewhere in your account details, and I can't check right now as the sites down!
Thank you , I will have to check that out.

Yes, it's down for me as well. Been on and off all morning.

I don't think it's possible to contact anybody unless they talk in the forums and then you get a link to sitemail them.  At least it used to be like that.

1318
I rarely get anything rejected from SS either so it doesn't really matter to me.

I thought the Shank was leaving. That didn't last long.  :(

Seriously, more nonsense instantly.  I'm all for a perpetual ban here.

+2. Breaking news ... sad lonely f*ckwit yearns for attention on internet forum.

+3. I think this guy likes to be punished. Verbally, at least.
+4. I was dissapointed to find out that it was only a temporary ban

Before I got into selling images I thought that Royalty Free meant that you didn't have to pay for it. I would never have thought twice about googling an image and using it for whatever reason, which would only have been school projects etc for the kids.   It was quite a shock to me to find out that I had actually been stealing.  It had never even occured to me that any image available through google was not there for general use. I'm sure that many many people are the same which is why I never go after anybody using my images on blogs, facebook etc. On comercial sites I will always send a DMCA when I find misuse.

There's no change in commission structure to all contributors.

Meaning we still get 13.3% of the original, not discounted prices?
I don't read it like that. It doesn't say 'no change in commission' it says 'There's no change in commission structure' which to me would mean that we still get 13.3% but of a lower price.

Panthermedia.net / Re: Panthermedia deletes unfinished files?
« on: August 11, 2011, 19:23 »
we delete uploaded, but not edited images after 6 weeks.

Due to the more than complicated upload process, finishing 1000+ files it's a pain and very time consuming. I simply can't upload more than 10-20 files a day so when I tried to upload my port, I was happy when I copied all the files in question via ftp. Unfortunately I finished them in a kind of random order so after 6 week cleanup it's a complete chaos in my port
Exactly the same thing happened to me.  I didn't finish the images off in any particular order so in order to upload there I would have to check that each image wasn't already up.  I can't see that happening any time soon!!! I was thinking about deleting the images already approved and starting again or just not bothering.
