Hi all, just a quick note to let you know that you can still upload images with a maximum of 50 keywords. It's been determined that the sweet spot for keywords is between 20-30 so the number 30 you have read on the site is a recommendation and not a mandate or change. The language will be changed on the site asap.

I live in the Seattle area and love it! For me (red headed freckle face) the weather is perfect. For the most part the people are nice though you should keep in mind it is a very liberal city and seems to be very closed minded to anyone with a conservative mindset. Traffic does suck in a fairly epic way pretty much all the time so there's that. We do have the greatest football teams (NFL and MLS) in the world to make up for it though.

There is no limit to the number of images you can submit in a day.

I just uploaded an image to confirm. I found that the default answer to the questions "Is this file exclusive to Fotolia?" and "If your file is declined by our editors, can we place it in the Fotolia free section?" was NO.
If you are finding a different result in your account, will you please send me an email or PM with your login name or account number name so I can check it out?
Thank you,
Mat

It a pig how the Fotolia system works because every so often they reset the default answers to "exclusive" question on the upload screen ... So you can easily get caught out and give them exclusivity and a free image if you are not careful.
Exactly, it's so frustrating... Specially that you need to delete image if you make any mistake, not only that one...
Please feel free to send me an email if you need to change the status of exclusivity on your images.

But why don't fotolia just sort that problem out if we choose not to give fotolia exclusivity and a free image why do they reset the questions?
I don't have an answer for that Teddy. I will check it out. My last upload I had to click those settings only once, then all images after that had the same results automatically checked. Even the categories and sub-categories stayed as they were for the previous image. If I logged out and started over again I had to reset the defaults I wanted. I'm assuming you are experiencing the same results, if I am mistaken please let me know. Beppe Grillo, if you prefer to send an email to [email protected] instead I will still respond to you as quickly as possible Have a great weekend! -Mat

I don't share that experience at all. ISO 1600 on my 5D Mark iii yields almost no visible noise. 3200 I see a bit but even at ISO 6400 the files are very manageable. Might be a good idea to send it in to the shop to get a tuneup.

I'm struggling to get excited about this. Bigger isn't better in my opinion. A 50mp sensor seems like overkill to me. I would much rather have a faster shutter, this is slower than the 5D Mark III. I do like that it's got a magnesium alloy body, dust and water sealed considering I just spilled a small amount of water on one of my 5D's this past weekend at Sundance and fried the screen. Time lapse movie mode does sound like some fun though. I thought for sure there would be Wifi in any new bodies coming out this year.
For me personally, I think the best news about this is that the price of the 5D Mark III will undoubtedly go even lower and I need to get another asap.
I'm probably lying to myself though. If the price is less than 4K I'll probably end up getting one.

Paparazzi using drones: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/paparazzi-take-to-the-skies-to-pursue-stars-with-drones/"Yeah, absolutely," he said. "You're walking down Rodeo Drive here in Beverly Hills, and there's a pack of paparazzi. Why wouldn't there be 30 drones flying over them?" Yup These things definitely look like a lot of fun but as the technology evolves and the price comes down the dirtbags will take advantage in the worst ways. Not just paparazzi but drug dealers could make drops in town or across the border, hacks will be created to weaponize them. In my opinion, any number of nefarious uses will inevitably make these annoying at best and more-than-likely dangerous. -Mat

Hi All,
It was just announced that HD videos are now worth 5 downloads rather than 1 in consideration of rank at Fotolia.
I've been talking to a lot of customers and it's obvious to me that high quality stock video content is very much in demand. There is a lot of opportunity to earn some serious money with video content. This change will help video contributors jump up in rank much faster and increase earnings.
Cheers!

I would expect that your account will be closed if you continue to keyword the images the way you have been. 3 warnings seems pretty generous to me if it's obvious you are doing it intentionally.
I can tell you without a doubt that customers HATE when images come up in their search that have nothing to do with the search term they have entered. Keyword spamming does not benefit you in any way, shape or form. It makes the customers frustrated, the agencies angry and you lose the respect of the photography community.
Do yourself a favor..if you are spamming the keywords, knock it off!

New subscriptions do not allow video downloads any more. It's only active subs that were purchased prior to the change several months ago that still do and they are few and far between now.
You can opt out of selling videos through these subscriptions in the contributor parameter section of your profile.

Sub footage sales at Fotolia should not be tolerated since they are so poor.
Videos are no longer being offered with subscriptions. The opt out button is only there to address old subscriptions that are grandfathered in. -Mat

In case some of your accounts are still experiencing the bug that switched you to opt in, the switch to opt out and in has been added back into your profile settings here: https://us.fotolia.com/Member/Modify/ContributorAs a reminder, new subscriptions do not allow members to download videos. The only exceptions are with subscriptions that are grandfathered in from earlier purchases and some corporate subscriptions at premium rates. Thanks, Mat

Tror, are you someone I have been in contact with? As far as I know the issue has been resolved. For those that had issues that have written to me directly I have gotten further assurances their accounts are not allowing video subscriptions any more. I have not been made aware of any further issues. There is no longer an opt out button because regular subscription plans no longer allow for video downloads. The only exception are subscriptions grandfathered in prior to the change. I'm sorry but I am not sure who you are so feel free to email me directly if you are still seeing subscription video sales after having been opted out of selling them in the past. Be sure to include your login name or account number. My email address is: [email protected]Thanks, Mat

Hi All,
We have experienced a temporary bug allowing some holders of old monthly subscriptions to download videos from opted out contributors. That is now fixed.
We also remind you that the ability to download M size videos has been recently taken out from all new monthly subscriptions, so these sales should gradually totally disappear as old monthly subscriptions run out.
Thanks,
Mat
