It took 6 days to reach level 2 and earn $33. It's 33 cents per download thanks to today's $18 single. How is your progress?

By the way I have the same earnings on Adobe with 32 downloads.

It's funny how Adobe is winning for me right now in January. $19 for 19 downloads on Adobe vs $10 for 51 downloads on SS.

154
I still wonder why SS wastes money on storing those images.

I wish it was a joke

I stopped uploading to Dreamstime. I have almost no sales there.

Ha ha. I just saw this on social media. Kind of sums it up  ;)

That's me! Just walked around 11,000 steps and took around 25 unique photos that worth to upload. Unfortunately I need one more hobby to make money :)

I never check if something, I plan to shoot has already been done, because you will alway find out, that there are already thousands if not tens of thousand photos of that particular subject, and some of them are going to be pretty amazing. That just gives me headaches and discouragement. I just shoot it the best I can and know, upload, and hope for the best.
I still check, somehow the others have very nice ideas

Whatever it is, he's got raw pork knuckle covered?

Oy way

Once every few months I upload the photo again (mainly out of curiosity if I succeed) but it is always rejected. As if they're thinking: h... He's trying again!"
make some tiny changes to the photo :)

Something grey :)

I would advice them to upload their work, (If they don't mind selling their content for cents instead of dollars, which would be for a lot of them a serious mental hurdle to take) and earn some extra money on the side, while improving their skills.
I have a few friends who take great photos while traveling and I keep asking them what are they doing with photos? Obviously they post photos on social media, have some prints for personal use, but almost all photos just stored on hard drives.

I answered "you can make some money, but I'd look at Microstock as a side interest, don't depend on that income or growth of the market."
It's more like a hobby for me, but I learned some stuff on the way like :
mastering Adobe Photoshop (by the way I'm getting it for free from Adobe as a contributor),
improved my language skills (English is a second language for me),
improved my photography skills,
while write description about something I'm sometimes learning some interesting facts about subject.

It depends on the images.
and metadata like description and keywords.

So what is the coclusion here? Does it pay to do editorial stuff or not? I don't get a clear picture from the reactions.
It depends

I dont understand why removing logos etc from the buildings makes an image non-editorial. The place and buildings and boat are still recognizable.

Recognizable, but not restricted

Most likely related to Amazon Web Services AWS outage

I have been questioned about what I was shooting, by local authorities. They were very nice about the whole thing and after I explained, hobbies and stock photos, they said "people really do that?"
Sometimes I see that people taken the photos of a strange things and I'm sure that they are microstock photographers. My usual explanation: I'm taken a photo class and the instructor told us to shoot something as a class assignment.

I don't mind to follow legally posted signs, but obviously I have no time for confrontation with security guards. Recently I was taking a photo of commercial property exterior from public sidewalk and security guard driving around told me that I cannot do it. Of course he's not right, but I just walked away.

Anyway it's interesting that people don't realize how good a modern phones.

171
Once in a while security guard stop me from taking photos with my "professional" Nikon D3500, but they are fine with mobile photography. Do they really know that I can take a better photo with my phone? I'm talking about editorial photos of private property like shopping center and etc.
How's you experience?

Is there a market for drains at fall images ?  :-\
Everything has a market, but it's hard to compete when you have one photo of something vs https://www.shutterstock.com/g/knelson20?searchterm=Vibrant+fall+colors+in+the+foliage+of+vines+growing+on+a+wall&sort=newest

How it's getting approved by SS?!

173
Based on id numbers, they were taking/uploaded this autumn

174
The only explanation I have is that the pictures were submitted one after the other.
Based on ID numbers they were submitted in one batch.
