August 1 - 6, 2023: $289.34
August 1 - 6, 2024: $21.77

My August, 2024 is bad, but my August, 2023 was horrible.

August 1 - 6, 2023: $22.42
August 1 - 6, 2024: $177.84

Starting August 8, 2023, the month picked up tremendously, so I am still holding out hope for this August.

again, given the wide variability month to month,  single month comparisons aren't as useful as 3 or 4 month running averages

Thanks for feedback and constructive comments. AI generated text content is identified by most of the search engines now. It is being pushed to bottom. ...

i don't think  there's any evidence AI can distinguish text& tags, esp'ly the latter after a bit of editing.

and i don't see why agencies would want to check or decline -- in general AI text is better than what one can do, with more conceptual ideas and details of background, etc., so they'd be getting better described images overall performance for buyers

sure, some individuals can produce better results but at the cost of increased time

153
I am an individual. I have added my rates in post itself. 0.03 Rate will not work for anybody.

but your post said 33 images for $1 which is about $.03 each?

i'm happy with the results I'm getting @ $.03 each  (they use an AI) , but i'll offer constructive comments & suggestions for anyone brave enough to take up the metadata challenge

154

Sent you a PM with Samples. The rate is absolutely low. 33 images will make $1. A minute per image - 33 minutes for $1. I expect request for revisions.

thanks - the results were impressive - i've replied with a more detailed response

155

Yes, I add metadata to images. Sometimes, buyers prefer CSV file as they do not want to send big images. They just send scale down images. If you send me final images, I will embed, title, descriptions and keywords there itself.

fhank s for the quick reply - it clarifies my concerns

and a CSV file is important for those of us who maintain a separate excel file to quickly locate images

your rate is certaainly competitive, if you can scale up to make it profitable

156
It wasn't clear -- Do you add the metadata to the images along with the CSV? ( it's unlikely, given you may be working from thumbnails)

how do you determine location and other details (names of churches, mountains, statues, ruins, ...) that aren't obvious in a description. other services use AI which can often determine, city, etc.

i pay $.03 /image for that service. can you compete?

can you provide examples of descriptions & keywords you've produced (don't need the images)

examples for results, from images only - title, description, tags:

unfortunately the reviewers don't follow the suggestion that only 3-4 imags from a series be submitted & accept dozens of slightly different shots

so 'honest' contributors are at a disadvantage if they hold themselves to 4 - a series can easily have many legitimate shots

Adobe Stock / Re: won't be long now
« on: July 30, 2024, 12:47 »

with all due respect, but anyone who produce and uploads 100 AI contents in a single hour cannot be defined as an "artist" in my opinion.
....

i commonly upload 100+ in an hour - but that reflects a week or more of intermittent work - post, captioning, etc.  (i've been spending less time on ms in the last 5+ years and now have a backlog of over 50K images - mostly dupes or similars which will eventually be weeded out)

now 100 in the same series is a different bird

the important thing is that something is done to slow down this senseless mad rush, now the quantity you upload is becoming more important rather than what you upload.

kids making videos of how to upload 100 AI content in an hour to Adobe Stock.

I believe it's time to end it,and create the conditions for controlled, balanced and fair growth for everyone,so that contributors try to create something of quality,or at least try, instead of turning into mindless automatons!...

it's always been a choice of quantity vs quality.

all the calls for 'fair' & 'balanced' are really just attempts to preserve that last generation - and what they miss is there's no reason for the agencies to change anything

and calling other artists 'mindless automatons' is just repeating the same failing arguments where automation has replaced craft jobs in both quantity AND quality

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe quarters and years
« on: July 29, 2024, 13:14 »
...
here is the percentage increase of the number of the sales in my first 2 quarters between 2023 and 2024:

1Q +36,2%
2Q +18,8%

I wanted to have an even broader vision, and I calculated the percentage of annual growth, even if I had always calculated the differences between years,I had never calculated the percentages in detail.

here are the growth percentages in the number of sales since 2019:

2019-2020 +60,9%
2020-2021 +62,12%
2021-2022 +22,8%
2022-2023 +110,6%
2023-2024 +27,5% (half-year)

...

so as i said,in my opinion,Adobe Stock can be a gold mine if you start at 30 years or maximum 40 years, because you still have more time, over 40 years instead,it depends on what you are able to produce, and in what quantity, because the time left to enjoy the fruits of labor is less, you simply have less time,it's not negativity,it's simply a fact, reality.

so in conclusion,as far as I'm concerned,if I can have an annual growth in number of sales of at least 80% every year for the next 4 years,in 4 years I can start to have a good income from Adobe Stock,if instead the this year's growth percentage or some of the next 4 years will be less than 80% I don't think I can continue, not actively, maybe some uploads if I feel like it a couple of times a year....

those goals are wildly out of reality - few sales/incomes in any field achieve even 30% over 4 years, not to even think of 80% - just look at all the old-timers who report significant decreases over the last 10 yeas.

and projecting 30 or 40years is a fool's errand - 30 years ago there was barely an internet - 40 years ago we had 300 baud modems.

and counting # of sales rather than total income may look nice but i'd rather have 10 sales at $1 than 50 sales at $.10

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobestock Review Time
« on: July 28, 2024, 14:12 »
If we soon discover cave paintings from the stone age as brand new images in the database, we know that the review is taking too long. I have uploaded a few new images when Ramses II was still going about his government business - they are still waiting for the review.

but those were the glory days of papyro-stock - when we were paid 1 loaf of bread and a pint of beer for each papyrus sold

What if Adobe is using AI to assign "review" token that determines place in review queue?  That token could be composite of technical aspects -i.e.  Histogram to left/right = image might be under/over exposed --> negative value to the token.   Or too much noise --> negative value to the token.   Brief run through contributor port - similar?  Negative value to the token.  Etc etc. Maybe even contributor rank comes into play.  Each week that passes would add some positive value to the token to push it higher in the queue, but as fresh content keeps arriving, anything with bad initial rating needs to wait a long time to swim out - or even never swims out - as newer content keeps getting inserted above....

very interesting & reasonable idea, but it doesn't track with my review times - i have over 300 images waiting for 2 month s, then about 150 in last 2 weeks - nothing in between. subjects extremely variable

attached your image as example, 6 seconds by AI, easy 90% similar

Should we expect firefly bonus this year?
:( I want a protection for crawling by firefly and all other crawlers and not a tiny bonus  :( . i see copies of my best seller renderings all over Adobe, even same title and keywords. just read about reddit not allows crawling anymore, by google only. dont know, just want let my bad feeling about this topic out  :o

you're confusing 2 issues

1 - theft of images by individuals

2 - scraping for AI training - and AS lets you opt out having your images used for training
where can i opt out?

they are not downlaoded and re-uploaded. they are 90% similar, as good as the AI can re-create these images

opt out policies are clearly defined by adobe - do your research before making false claims &  complaining about something YOU are responsible for

how did you decide they were '90% similar' - very strange claim

how do you know those 'copied' images are done by ai? why not simple editing by those who copy?  it's nigh impossible for AI to produce something you created - unless you're creating extremely generic image

post your images & the copies to prove your case, otherwise it's just more anti-AI whinging

where's the beef?

Software / Re: Maigen - Automatic metadata generator
« on: July 25, 2024, 14:00 »

Why don't you have any website?
Why are you giving direct download of the software?
Is this safe and legitimate?
What is your privacy policy and terms and conditions?

Sorry, I haven't had time to make a website, I will try.

My main purpose of making this application is to make it easier for me to fill in the metadata for my images that I will send to various Microstock sites.

what changes were made in this version?

how many days long is the trial period? - last time it was short and ended without any warning or explanation when you tried to test more images

i've been using https://www.visualmind.ai and have processed over 600 images in the last week @ $.03 per image - excellent results & it provides both a CSV and zip of the edted images

yes, what I want to wait for is the last quarter of the year...

no need to wait (and last qtr may have always been significantly different from other) --> keep a running average of the last 3 completed months - then you'll aways be able to compare a current quarter vs 1 yr, etc ago

I have a photo showing a United States locale that is named using a non-standard English character. It has an in the formal name. When writing keywords/titles, should I use a standard n or keep the tilde?

Dreamstime made me change it to a regular n, but Im not sure how to best handle other sites to ensure its easily findable by buyers.

it'd be rejected by many agencies - one of most troublesome is caf which autocorrect insists on adding the accent. i have to use something like caFe to bypass

172
Don't worry, I have the little troll on ignore, I only see the posts if someone quotes them.

I didnt know about that awesome feature! Thanks for pointing that out. I can now ignore idiots and focus on reading posts from intelligent and well-mannered individuals. This will make my time spent on this forum a lot more enjoyable.

back in the BBS modem days (1980s), we added a twit filter to our Stonehenge program - it let the twit continue to post, but it wouldn't actually display anything except to them, leaving them wonder why no one was responding to their comments

.... but anyways - the "ai" systems will stick in "wierd" results... so just make sure you check for that.

Cheers!

ignoring your usual off-topic diatribes, just how can his app check for 'weird' results w/o a human manually checking each result?

you say you tried the app.  then you fly a tangential argument about theoretical errors  - what 'very bad results' did you find with THIS app?

it's up to the user to ensure this tool is producing results they consider accurate
