@Anyka
Next time try "recover my files" program. It was good for HDD in the past.
I was rumbling but chances of a defective card are similar to a defective flash or shutter or whatever. The only difference is that in other cases fault is "presentable" to the client, others (as card failure) is "after". In every case, believe me, it is not the end of the world neither you will lose clientelle or colleagues. This is why contracts (covering and this case) exist
I understand what you mean with the difference between "presentable" faults and non-presentable, but - if I was my own client, and my photographer told me I had to re-do my entire 4-hour session (at 8 months pregnant), I would definitely not return to that photographer for my next photo shoot. Not even if I was gifted the whole session for free.

It would be interesting to know the actual stats on card failures for the different card types.
I have only one camera with dual slots and I don't use them. Wouldn't the camera, with a single slot, show that data wasn't being recorded? Wouldn't the review show me that nothing was saved? Not that I chimp after every shot, but I do look now and then. I'm wondering about data failure, while I'm working. Wouldn't I know or is there something I'm missing?
You're right, with a single card slot, when no data are recorded because of card failure before or during a photo session, a camera would probably refuse to take the shot. And even if a shot was possible, you would immediately notice something was wrong the first time you would review images. So if my card got defective before the session, I did not notice because card 2 was doing its job well. But what if the card got defective AFTER the photo session, like the moment I take it out when my client has left. If I did not have that second card, I would have nothing. Hence my theoretical question about recovery experiences with defective cards. With my maternity and newborn sessions, it would be possible, but very annoying to do a total re-shoot of the images, but other photographers, like wedding photogs, don't have that luxury.

I use Sony and they have single card slots and in 10 years I never had a defective card.
I always format and check the card before and during shooting and carry a spare card.
This is the first time for me too, in 18 years ...

I have a Canon 5D IV. It has dual card slots, and before every photo session, I format both cards. After last Maternity session, my Sandisk 64Gb failed, but no panic, I just took the CF card and copied all photos to my hard disk.
No problem ... but what if I did NOT have two cards - it would have been quite a panic. So I thought : let's take the defective card and act as if I really needed to recover the photos. Mind you, I do not even know if the photos were recorded on this card, because possibly it got defective right after formatting.
I googled on "recovery software", found "Recuva", did a "deep scan" ... and : nothing! Though the reviews said it could recover photos even after formatting (so in theory, it should at leastt find the photos of the PREVIOUS photo session).
Interesting note : this is the very reason why I won't be buying the EOS R or any other great new camera with only 1 slot!
I'm keeping this card, just for testing. Did any of you ever recover photos with a defective card, without going to a professional recovery company? If so, which software did the trick?

Same problem here from the Netherlands....
Ruud, I found the solution to the problem : do not go to nl.123rf, but wipe out the NL in https://www.123rf.com/contributor/earnings.php You'll get your earnings in English and no error code

Lesson learned ... we should write down support e-mail addresses from all agencies, because once they're down you cannot visit their site and look it up ...

Hi all, since this morning I get a 403 error page whenever I try to access the 123rf website (any page). It's on my desktop PC and my laptop, and it seems to be me, not a worldwide problem. So can anyone give me the e-mail address to contact support? Not a web-address, as I won't be able to use it ... thanks in advance!

Same problem here with submissions of 20 images of the same photo session and model, 10 rejected for some mysterious MR problem, and the rest accepted ... SIGH !!!
I read that many just re-submit. How do you do that? Do you just submit all over again, or do you indicate it is a re-submitted image? Which has the least risk of rejection ?

I'm not sure that the average customer is interested in buying copyright (higher prices), and as above said, bidding on single images for projects is not really working. On the other hand, if you would make "small collections" and sell these with RF licences through Ebay, Etsy etc. ... that might work. Example : a collection of Christmas images, as a download or on dvd, in high resolution. A bit like the packs sold by SS.

Same here. Upload is not lost, but processing takes so long that I give up.

I buy two of whatever the current WD MyBook drives that are around $80 or so. I just bought two 2TB at Best Buy for $70 each. Takes me about six months to fill them (one is a backup of the other). Never had an issue.
Totally agree, the Western Digital (WD) My Book series are very reliable and affordable. I have used every size up to 8TB without any problem and plan to buy 3 larger ones this year.

No, it's even just the opposite. From 2006 to 2011 I only did stock photography. Stock shoots with people meant free photo sessions, so my models were paid with images and a photo book. In 2012 I quit my day job and started a portraiture studio, as I expected stock income to go down eventually. NONE of my former models EVER came to my studio for a PAID photo session. The only benefit I had was that I was able to show stock children/baby images on my personal website, to attract parents, but the bulk of my new clients came from offering cheap sessions in the beginning, and moving my pricing up every year. Today, the studio generates 60% of my income, and 40% stock. My advice is : do NOT send potential client a link to your stock sites (they will see the low pricing), but do use your stock images on a personal website, and add a LOT of text to the website AND to every single image, so Google can find you.

Hi Anyka,
Thank you for your reply! Actually this is the exact thing I was thinking about and I have thought of the following solution:
- photographers that want to offer their images provide me with their info and links to their content at the stock agency website(s) - when I'm looking for images I go through the content at the agency website and collect whatever I need - I then send the images to the photographer so he/she can provide me with the actual material - payment follows
The process could probably be simplified further, but in a nutshell this is the idea. Would something like this work?
PS: Nederlands?
Yes, you're right, that would be the only way to do it. However, I think that would be against the rules of many stock agencies ? P.S.: Ja inderdaad, ik ben Nederlandstalig en woon in Antwerpen

I think this is an interesting idea, but the first question that rises to my head is : how would we photographers provide the images? Most of us (like me) do not have their stock images on a personal website for sale, only at the stock agencies. How would you choose?

yes, Dreamstime shows the website of the photographer, so you can visit it and use his/her contact data ...

No need to ask Matt to change the order/priority : simply go to your ACTIVITY page with a few clicks, then COPY the entire URL, and change your bookmark into this URL. Finished. I don't have to navigate to activity anymore, it's always there.
Does not work here, it always returns to the Top Sellers. And like this you also copy the period (from date to date), so then you have to insert 2 dates every time
Try this one (when logged in) : https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/insights/sales-earnings?That is the link without the date limit ...

I use Payoneer for my no. 1 agency (SS) because the conversion rate is 1% better, and with the bigger payouts, that counts. I use Paypal for all other agencies, because I buy a lot on-line, and the combination Ebay/Etsy with Paypal works like a charm, and so does the Paypal buyer's protection. So the Payoneer/Shutterstock money goes into my bank account, and the Paypal money is spent online.

Is there some issue at SS? I'm trying to upload an h.264 .mp4 video, size, around 100mb, and I keep getting rejections for "too large". Tried FTP as well and they don't appear. Any ideas?
Sean, try uploading again, but first change the file name of the video.

I got a very strange start of the month at Canstock : 65 downloads of the same image, all at 0,25$. I was about to report this to Canstock, but I noticed that it had an unusual license, called "free print". Could this be some "free print of the day" at one of the partner sites? Any one seen something similar happen?

As a matter of fact, they do send an annual statement, at least they did last year. On 25th July 2017 I received a statement from Canva stating the withholdings from 1st July 2016 till 30th June 2017. Their accountancy year ends in June, so I expected to receive another one a few days ago. Nothing yet ... With this piece of paper, my accountant can deduct the paid taxes from what I have to pay in taxes, though it's a very late deduction, as I will only see the results of the second half of 2018 in 2020 ...

Try this, it works for me as a workaround : Login the normal way, and while you're on the page that has no links to your history/earnings/uploads, go to https://nl.123rf.com/contributor/earnings.phpNow you have your earnings, and on top of the page, there's an "upload" button ... Give it a try.

The difference between royalties and other income is that you do not SELL THE IMAGES, but you sell a LICENSE to USE the images, and you keep the copyright. To prove that, you may need to show the auditors the contributor agreement and/or the license agreement, in which this is explained.

Has anyone gotten any support response? I'm still waiting from my email on my incorrect payment for February.
I did not hear from them, but I did see that the amount due is correct, which means they paid too much in February, and corrected it by simply adjusting the next payout.
