Looks great. Not doing drone footage now. Still waiting that regulations for drone of commercial use are the same for all European countries. In Austria i would have to pay 350 a year to register a small drone thats capable for doing video. In Italy it won't bee much cheaper, i guess. I like this drone videos a lot. I heared that 2020 should came a solution for Europe. Then i will start my "drone carrier" :-)
Thank you. Yes, new European drone rules are finally coming!

This seemed to be one of your relaxing pieces, always in my personal opininon! Wathing it, I thought (and hope) you could get stock sales in wide categories uses: travel blogs, TV, documentaries, or even films. Maybe you could inform us in the future months to come if such content sells more! Just interested! No, I do not do aerials or own a drone!
Thank you, I do hope it will sell. Mountains and nature is a relatively new topic to me. The thing is that with stock footage it takes a good amount of time to realize if there are good sales, at least two years

The time lapse is very good, reviewers for video at SS are notoriously total lunatics. Simply resubmit and it will be accepted. In a timelapse you can have choppiness only if the SS is too fast compared to the frequency of shots, but it is not really the case here (only a tiny bit of choppiness)

Monte Rosa and Cervino (Matterhorn) in Italian Alps by drone. Mountains and castles in the beautiful region of Aosta valley. I had planned to stay in the region filming for 20 days, but I had to cut it short because of incredible heat and very bad light. Even the mountains were melting down... https://youtu.be/lDBJa_R_beg

Your technique is quite good, but as said above there are too many repetitions. Some of your flowers images are very well made, but it is a topic that not sell much. I think you know how to shoot, but don't know what to shoot. Try experimenting with different topics

I just purchased a Mavic 2 Zoom and as it can get a little noisy I did some more tests with Neatvideo 5 and now I have to say that it is superior to Davinci resolve 15 Studio in noise removal. I would say speedwise both are not fast which is to be expected but the results I get from Neatvideo are better than those with Resolve. I finally purchased it. Have been a user of Neat Image for many years. I am glad I tried again and got a little better profiling the noise characteristicas before removing it as I did in my firsts trials.
Thanks again for bringing up this topic as it made me try the software.
Cheers
I downloaded the demo version yesterday and was disappointed. No real improvement in speed nor quality using it on Davinci Resolve 15 Studio. The Flickr and Noise reduction work quite well and I would say are faster than Neat Video 5. But I have to say that I also did not dig enough to see if I could improve results but speed wise it is quite slow. I have an i7 8700 32gb Ram and Nvidia GTX 1070. with SSD disks
Interesting... I have not tried with DVR, I use it with After Effects and Premiere Pro. I have a computer with similar specs to yours and I have no speed issues at all
I also have a Mavic 2 zoom, really excellent for video (less so for photos and hyperlapses). The only problem is that it generates a good amount of noise (but all drones do). I use NV5 in any single clip made with the M2Z and I am really happy with the results

June at SS was gone extremely well for the first 3 weeks, on pace to BME, after BME in May. But, as often happens in these situations, nothing in the last week, so it ended up pretty mehhh. Not too bad, but pretty disappointing

Had such high hopes for this - wasn't thrilled but there was some improvement.
What program do you use it with?

Pond 5 accepts everything. Adobe has very good reviewers and they don't accept editorial. As other have said, be careful of logos, and some protected buildings or lights. SS reviewers are mostly blind. You generally get everything rejected the first time and when you resubmit everything get accepted. You can submit as editorial

Another great tutorial.
These are great tutorials. My first experience with a drone was all manual. I sold everything. Three years later the technology has made it much easier. Might get back into it.
Manual flying skills are still needed. Quadcopter models like the DJI Mavic have no user-selectable Atti mode. In instances when the GPS is not working properly, the quad automatically switches to Atti mode. Problem is that many first time fliers have no previous experience with Atti mode and no manual flying skills so in such situations, they panic and crash. Oh yea it's certainly great having automatic features which make certain tasks so much easier but having manual flying skills are just as important as ever for safety of your aircraft.
Yes, sure. Obviously the operator still needs some manual skills

For 4k footage with H264 I use CBR and 100 Mbps. If you use HD 50mbs should be fine. For a while I used ProRes, but I stopped because some of the agencies I work with do not accept it, especially for time lapses, as the files get too big

...but, we were just told that video sales weren't capped. That's what Fairplay said. It only applies to selected image sellers
Exactly! It's easy to understand that there is a special team, very well payed guys, who stay all the day checking contributors portfolios, and choosing "this can be free / the other should be capped And every ten days (I suppose) they have to check again.
Hard work. And it's very expensive for SS to maintain the cap system!
No need at all of people to do this sort of things. They use this new sort of machines. What they call them? Oh, yes, computers

I never understood why people here gets so heated up about the "cap" theory. SS has by far the most sophisticated algorithm of all agencies. They aim to make as many contributors happy (not having just a handful making huge gains, but spreading the gain a bit more), they push people to upload regularly (if you don't upload for a few weeks your sales go down), and they punish people spamming, or uploading too many similar clips (in my experience the ratio between clips in portfolio to sales is very important). Also they rotate the files in a way that customers don't find always the same images in their searches. It does make perfectly sense to me. I do only video, SS is my best agency by country miles (it makes more than all other combined) and last month was my BME at SS.
I must admit that IN MY PORTFOLIO, I noticed several points of behavior underlined by people in the "cap" theory camp: - Sometimes a month starts very well and by the middle of the month I get almost to my average gain, then my sales stop completely for the next two weeks - Other times the months starts incredibly poorly, but I do not worry because in the last days I get extremely high priced sales and I end up around my average - Without any doubt there are weeks where only one of my files sells, always the same one (but can still be a decent week because the same file sells a lot), other weeks where all my files sell, old or new ones - If I upload regularly and my ratio of sales per clip remains good, every seven or eight months my average income goes up by a decent step (I get a pay rise)
This happens for my portfolio, because of my geographical location, because of the time when I started contributing, because of the kind of clips I do. For other portfolios it might be totally different. I still do not understand why people must get so heated up and mistrust what other people say. And anyway, I am very happy that SS algorithm has a cap system

Another great vid! Thx!
Unfortunately, I have a P4P, so I guess this is not available to me? bummer...
Thank you, sadly not available for the moment for the Phantoms. The technology is easy to implement to other model, so let's hope they will do it

Mind sharing your blog? I would be interested in seeing more of your travels.
Blog is at www.MindStormPhoto.com
There is a menu at top also. If you choose "Travel" it expands out to year, and then to trips taken that year.
If you wish to keep current with the blog, the easiest is to:
(1) 'Friend' me on Facebook. The only posts I make on my timeline are to announce when a new blog post is up, or
(2) give me your email and ask to be notified. Once a month (except in rare months with no blog activity) I send out a short email summarizing what blog posts were made in the prior month.
Excellent blog and beautiful photos! How to find you on Facebook? OK, I found you. We are already friends in FB :-)

Beautifully done, Brightonti! Thank you for the insightful tutorial!
My "bottom-line" question would be: Are you finding that the pay-off is worth the effort? So much time spent scouting the location, getting the sequence - providing everything works as planned during that 1-3 hour process - and then taking it home and spending more time working the frames before uploading it to multiple agencies and hoping there's a demand for that particular TL clip.
Thank you! This is an excellent question. I am quite happy with my sales in the different agencies, but I must admit that sunset and sunrises have not sold very much as yet. Other timelapses, much easier to make are my best sellers so far. But I still love doing sunsets and, if I manage to wake up, sunrises

Another excellent video - thx! I always make a point of watching your stuff as soon as I read about it here. (I have a YouTube subscription, but honestly almost never check them for updates...)
However... you always talk about using full manual. I have taken that as gospel until last week. A cathedral in the middle of our town (Cuenca, Ecuador) was recently renovated, and has some spectacular lights. Our living room window looks directly over it. I tried doing a time-lapse on full manual, using exposure ramping, etc. Not a decent result among them. I was ready to give up...
Then, I thought "why not break the rules and let the camera figure out what is needed?" I set ISO 100, white balance cloudy (it was, prior to sunset), and manual focus. I then (horror!) set the camera to 'P' mode to let it decide on both aperture and shutter speed. I let it fly for about 3 hours, used LRTimeLapse (an app you turned me onto, and which I now use for each and every time-lapse), and got this result:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ti-15BJBGoE&feature=youtu.be
Personally I love it, and don't think I could have gotten a better result with any amount of manual exposure, or ramping, or any other fooling around. This camera (Sony a7R3) does one heck of a good job in doing auto exposure. I had already come to rely on 'P' for street photog, where I am run-and-gun and light changes dramatically from shot to shot. This was my first attempt at using it for time-lapse, but I suspect it won't be my last.
BTW, we are traveling to Chile for the eclipse in July. I will be testing the VIEW+ (an intervalometer that claims to have ramping controls for eclipses) on one camera. A second camera will be set to 'P' as this sunset shot was done.
Haven't decided how to set up the other two cameras. Any specific suggestions? I will have two Sony a7R3, one Canon 5DM3 and one Canon 7DM2 along, with an assortment of lenses. At least one long lens (400mm) will track just the sun, and at least one lens (12-24mm) will do an overall scene view. Still deciding on the last two though... (FWIW, my wife and I will be shooting, which each responsible for 2 cameras. I am not crazy enough to try to run all 4 at once in a one-time event like this!)
Oh yes, we have sheets of "eclipse filter material" that will be used to protect the sensors from being burned during the eclipse.
I love it too! Thanks for sharing the link and your other ideas.
You've inspired me to try that here in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA where I just happen to have a great view of the St. Francis Cathedral on the Plaza. Both morning and evening light can be wonderful, so
Thank you Martha, Santa Fe is a fantastic place for timelapses. Such an atmospheric place, also the air from the desert is so clean. I would love to spend a few days shooting there
