Then we are honoured by your presence. What went wrong though... why did you stop being the best quality contributor?

I am in the top 1500 in the AS contributor ranking with less than 2000 photos.

I read that there are contributors with 10,000 photos earning $ 50 a month ... so am I among the best in quality or not?

I therefore think that my type of work should no longer be in stock and be rewarded with 1 or 2 cents. I was wrong. I will take other roads.

Bye Bye Adobe Stock !

I was one of the best quality contributor ... Each of my photos requires 1 or 2 hour of post production and the result is appreciated by the buyers. You deserve a collection of amateur snapshots

I haven't checked all of their images (there are thousands !), but I haven't seen any of mine

But the problem is: bundles like these kill the business. This Etsy shop has made 40,000 sales in 5 years. And for every pack sold they sell hundreds of skies, gradients, textures ...

I believe that Adobe and Shutterstock should also move against these license abuses.

180
They have a 1000 Skies Bundle from Shutterstock and Adobe Stock at 49$.

https://creativemarket.com/MixPixBox/4182585-1000-Sky-Overlays-Pack

In Europe pack of 25 extended licenses is 1699 ... therefore the cost of 1000 extended license is 68.000 ...  8)

Do you think they paid 68.000 for 1000 extended licenses ?  ;D

Is it regular to sell on Etsy or Creative Market our backgrounds and skies downloaded from Shutterstock or Fotolia/Adobe Stock  ?

They indicate Shutterstock or Fotolia/Adobe Stock on the pages, but I don't think it is possible to sell these backgrounds with digital download on other shops ...

https://www.etsy.com/shop/MixPixBox (> 40.000 sales !)

Sorry for my english

A year ago I stopped uploading photos to all agencies under RPD < $ 0.50. Istock included. This month $ 0.44, Dec 0.41 Jan 0.42 ... maybe it would be better to close the account ...

They dont need/want quality - there's Custom and Offset for that.

Yes ... but sales on Offset, Getty, Adobe Premium ... are good or not ?

Subscription now seems to be in Single And Others now

Kate Shutterstock answer:

"As you've noticed, most earnings are displaying in the Single & Other column. This is a display issue that we are working to resolve.

All your commissions are being calculated correctly, they are just displaying in the wrong category.

Thanks for your patience while we prepare a fix for this issue."

dreamstime will save microstock industry ;)

Are you sure ? Got two DT sub sales in June ... 0,35 $ same earnings of May ... Where is my extra 10% increase in the royalties value for all downloads ?

Subscription is excluded ?

186

Percentages MUST be based on an actual percentage of what the buyer paid for the image (subscription fee/ actual images downloaded) not on the total possible number of downloads.

Mmm ... Istock nightmare ? Nooo !

I prefer 35% now (i'm in level 5) that 15% one or two months later ...

Photo credits are overrated imo...as long as we're paid (correctly) that's all that matters and even that can be a challenge sometimes!

I do not agree. There are rules and they should be respected.

I agree for commercial use, but not for editorial use. 90% of those who put photos on Instagram put a link or a tag to the author account.

Then there are always the smart ones who pretend to be authors of the photos ...

General Stock Discussion / Social Media and attribution
« on: April 25, 2020, 06:06 »
Hi there !

I have sold many travel photos and often I find them on Instagram without credits attribution.

I contacted the accounts and they explained that they bought the photos on Istockphoto.

Istock License Agreement says:

Attribution.

Do I need to include a photo credit? You do not need to include a photo credit for commercial use,  but if you are using content for editorial purposes, you must include the following credit adjacent to the content or in visual production credits: "iStock.com/Artist's Member Name."

I think the use on social media has editorial purposes. What do you think about it ?

Mmm ... I think the time has come to say goodbye to Getty ...

Last year I had an average RPD of 0,53 $ ... this year an RPD of 0,36 $ (more than 500 sales/month)

And now these Connect sales for a fistful of cents ...

My portfolio is 50% travel Italy - 40% travel Europe - 10% other (food, texture ...)

March good -20% from February
April (first 8 days) down 50% from February

Download is good (-20/30%), but I lost extended licences in all the agencies.

RPD Feb 0,98 - Mar 0,93 - First 8 days Apr 0,69.

Mine in October ... I have >200 images still pending ...

What is going on ?
