If any of you installed the Microsoft update titled KB951748, then you may experience Internet problems thanks to a clash between Zonealarm and this update. To fix the issue you can either uninstall the update, change your firewall settings to medium, or switch to another type of firewall. To uninstall the update, do the following:

1) select "Start->Settings->Control Panel"
2) select "Add/Remove Programs"
3) select the 'check' box at the top of the screen that says "Show Updates" (there may be a pause for a minute or so)
4) scroll down the update list until you see the update that says "update for Windows XP KB951748"
5) Select the "KB951748" update and click on REMOVE

Just thought I would warn anyone who didn't know.

General Stock Discussion / How important is copyspace?
« on: July 09, 2008, 12:45 »
I know that with iStockphoto buyers can search for their preferred method of copyspace, but does it make that much of a difference in sales? Just curious.

Recently, I decided to purchase the Canon 20mm f/2.8 wide angle lens. But I've noticed that it's extremely soft towards the edges of the picture. I've read that using f/11 fixes this, but I'm a bit uneasy. I'm using the Canon Xsi with it. Basically, are all wide angle lenses soft towards the edges? Or is this lens just a piece of junk? It received mixed reviews on Amazon, but most people seem to think it's pretty good. Thanks.

Here's an example:

It took me four attempts to pass the test so don't feel too bad. Then again, these images have yet to see a sale at iStockphoto.

Great. I guess I'll be carrying pepper spray with me if I ever go to Malibu.

Only iStockphoto is doing poorly for me. The others are about average. Of course, Shutterstock would be below average if it hadn't been for an EL.

I have a picture of three ice cream sandwiches that doesn't show up in the search. I am only able to access the image if I use double quotes. Can anyone tell me if I've done anything wrong? Or is it just a glitch? Thanks.

I read something about how some individuals at Photoshelter pay $50 a month for some reason. I just want to make sure that it's free to submit your photos to this agency. Thanks in advance.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Keyword Stuffing

What about this:

bitten, brown, chocolate, chocolate ice cream sandwiches, close up, dessert, fattening, ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, junk food, macro, sweets, three ice cream sandwiches, treats, unhealthy, white background

Since I read Shutterstocks latest newsletter about using double quotes, I decided to use them more often in my keywords. But I don't want to be penalized.

General Stock Discussion / Keyword Stuffing

Say I have a picture of a juicy plum. If I use keywords such as one plum, red plum, juicy plum; etc, is that keyword stuffing? I mean they're all relevant keywords. What do you guys think?

I'm down about fifty percent for the month. Same with Shutterstock.

cshack, you may just have had an eager buyer who discovered your port and went crazy.  Congratulations!

My sales on SS are right where I would expect them to be for a holiday Monday.

Mine too. Just three sales.

How about Flash games or something like that?

For about three weeks my sales were way down, but this past week they're closer to normal. And now that I've said that, I'm sure my sales will tank for the rest of the week. :)

Haha. Yeah, it was pretty long. Technically, it was 30" for the width and 11" for the height. The resolution was 350.

It was a photo of three bell peppers isolated on white. I shot each pepper separately, and then stitched them together in Photoshop.

I had a rejection that said "please keep images under 25MP". It's a first for me. Easy to fix, though.
