a 'fair' system would be that everyone earns the same amount, a fixed percentage why should I earn more or less on image than anyone

the flaw in the motivation argument is I don't think you will reach the top RC ranks. It looks to me (and I haven't gone into it heavily - so maybe mistaken) the best match is skewed towards those on lower commission, so as your commission increases you will get worse best match placement, less sales and drop back down.
Huh? The best match is heavily skewed towards vetta and agency files, which are limited to exclusives, so higher commissions.
ok sorry I totally ignored vetta and agency. It seems though diamond and black diamond people have taken drops (or perhaps it is only a few us being vocal , while bronze etc are saying it's now great. Searches based around the stuff that I do seem to be bigger port people have their best sellers at the back, with low selling images at the front, while it is reverse for people with smaller ports / bronze etc. (like I said though I haven't gone into it heavily - just impressions)

Please explain to me why on earth shoud the Pro make 25% or 30 % and the amateur deservers 40%
I actually can't figure out why everyone doesn't get 40%.
yep, why should it matter, when you are pro or amateur? or how long on the site? an image is image, IS accepted so obviously think it has worth. the flaw in the motivation argument is I don't think you will reach the top RC ranks. It looks to me (and I haven't gone into it heavily - so maybe mistaken) the best match is skewed towards those on lower commission, so as your commission increases you will get worse best match placement, less sales and drop back down.

Doesn't seem to be good news, but who knows but Bigstock.
With the current pricing the royalty percentage for a vector file (6 credits) bought with different credit packages is:
12 credits package = $2,41 / credit = 20,74 % 25 credits package = $1,96 / credit = 25,51 % 60 credits package = $1,65 / credit = 30,3 % 140 credits package = $1,35 / credit = 37,03 % 350 credits package = $1 / credit = 50 % 700 credits package = $0,9 / credit = 55,55 %
I'm guessing most credits spent are 140 credit bundles and up, so they chose a fixed royalty percentage in the low end of the scheme. It seems. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
in Oz 12 credit packs is AU$3.40 / credit which is US$3.60 (no option to change currency, and you have to go back 2 years to get anywhere near that bad a rate) - anyway it is 13.8% commission assuming they keep the same currency rates, 1 pay as u go = us$2.70 = au$4.05 = 22.2% commission so an improvement but not much

From this thread, ( I thought it a pretty reasonable deal because if customer went to the 3rd party with the image we just get a single sale. Contributor gets 13.3%, 123rf gets 11.7%) http://www.microstockgroup.com/123royaltyfree-com/123rf-image-enlargement-services-your-earnings/Hi Everyone, Great news! We've introduced another value added service to our clients - 123RF Image Enlargement Service. And you can now see this as being available on the website if you look at your file sizes, we now have the following: Size Credits Your share S 1 50% M 2 50% L 3 50% XL 4 50% XXL 5 50% 100 MB TIFF 150 20 credits 200 MB TIFF 300 40 credits 300 MB TIFF 450 60 credits We are employing an external party to provide this service to our clients. We are using your 5 credit version of the image to enlarge it to 100, 200, 300 MB TIFFs with some minor touch up, removal of noise, etc. Don't worry about your original images, we do make sure that we keep everything cataloged and our external service provider will not distribute this version without first consulting 123RF. The good news is, you're now getting approximately 13.3% of the FULL VALUE (not 50% as in the case of the S-XXL size images) of the credits for each image enlarged, while we share the remaining amount with the image enlargement service provider. We hope that this will prove to be a good and profitable business model for you and our clients as it will increase the earning capacity for everyone. We will promote this service to all our clients and soon you should see some heavy hitting sales coming your way! Thank you very much. Alex. for 123RF.com

Decent sales for me everything that is better than 50% of Dreamstime, and 123RF oscillates from 50% - 70% of Dreamstime sales from month to month. At least fot me 123RF was always way better than Fotolia.
same for me re compared to DT, DT is slowly dropping each month, 123 growing, (FT is better than DT for me), BigStock is about 50-70% of 123RF

Sold Files: 540 By Credits: 87 By Subscription: 407 By SMS: 46
averaging just under 1% of monthly earnings (personally this is about where I say it is worthwhile) and growing. Earning more than Panther or Scanstock, but less than FP.
They have a reasonable tiered system based on downloads with subs & sms = 1/3 of a sale.

Here's an update on PNG files for iStock. This will double my portfolio and bring in higher revenue per image.

thanks snip --> We also believe that all those business owners and presentation makers who don't necessarily have the skill to isolate images themselves can just drag and drop to their hearts' content. <-- presented well, so that it is obvious to these customers that the additional format offers transparency it could be a big deal?

mid march best match shift took me from slow month to BME. The next shift a week or two later has seen my sales being less than half of average months. My redeemed credits for 2010 was 41572, my 'trending' for this year is now 17926. Throw in a rate cut at Fotolia, super cheap prices at alamy and the $US and I am now earning less than half of what I was last year I put in about a third of my port into P+ in the hope that it would come with best match perks (it hasn't). It's still early to tell and hard to say with best match shift as well, but my gut feeling so far is that my sales have gone down a bit further but income is very slightly up.

yes the image is mathematically generated 100% from scratch by the filter (much like fractals start from nothing)

filterforge will produce the same image time and again, the person creating the filter sets up settings they like (called presets) as examples, the person using the filter can use the preset settings or adjust to their own taste. So it is possible for dozens of people to produce the exact same image (and for each person to own the copyright of their own individual image) hence using the preset settings really isnt a good idea.

I wouldn't go exclusive anywhere, financially it would need to be a lot more than that, not to mention all the eggs in one basket just like IS. I like SS, but I'm also aware that they own BigStock which has quietly crept into offering one of the lowest commissions of a major / middle site.

At one point (in 2008) I got Au$1.42 per U$1, now I am getting $0.90. It is great for buying gear out of the states, but of course having taken a pay cut (even compared to earlier this year) I don't have any extra cash to buying gear with Someone on the radio (dont know who they were a financial analyst, said about 2 weeks ago they wouldn't be surprised to see au$1 = US$1.5, so I will get around $0.66 if becomes true)

I'm another who likes canstock (but not the $0.25), for me they are definitely worth the time to upload to, but I do think all sites should payout when you close the account but do any of them payout you if you are under their amount when you close?
