Flickr / Re: Flickr sold to SmugMug
« on: April 25, 2018, 14:51 »
I thought my Flickr and SmugMug accounts were closed a long time ago.  Attack of the zombies.  They need to add a opt out button.
You mean you didn't just delete your account?
If not why not?

The notice really doesen't mean much to me. Never used it for sales, just displaying life drawings. As far as I know, they as in SM will still have the settings I came to know and love for people who are just displaying images.  :)

Smugmugs business model is to sign up photographers for paying accounts to sell stuff. The main value I see in them buying Flickr is to convert displayers into Smugmug paying seller accounts. Paid Flickr Pro accounts probably arent profitable otherwise Flickr wouldnt have been sold. Will be interesting to see what Smugmug does with it.
Even if they decide to force a payed account on you, there are still plenty of free alternatives like a site just for artists I found last year. The have the exact settings I like except for one. But its no biggy. Best of all not covered with ads n stuff.  :)

The zip pack was excepted as is. Apparently no problem on my end. I still think that unloading thing has a small bug.  :-\

I guess the old Fotolia page is now dissolved? Never to be seen again?  :(
Also I think there's a bit of a bug. You can upload a zip file containing your EPS10 file with JPG but if you just upload the EPS10 file, the app complains that your art board is too large. What's up with that?
Also now those links in everyone's sig with the little icon needs updating. I think they no longer lead to a user's Adobe port.  Just thought I mention.  :)

LOL. I'm probably the only weirdo that loves the end result. It totally needs a unicorn though.

CrestStock is not going out of business any time soon since they are owned by Masterfile. A company that's been around like forever. Also it seems that CS is nothing more then a bridge for MF. Since they have much to choose from, they only seem to except stuff that can be found on MF. To me that's too much effort for low income that creststock provides. If I'm gonna make some elaborate time consuming work, not dong it for peanuts.  8)

I hate doing this, but dude...

You gotta take some serious classes, and I mean from professionals. Perhaps extra focus on drawing the human form if that's what you wanna do, because d@mn... That's all I can say.

learning while working would be more preferable for me  :) any suggestions please ?

You can take life drawing classes in your community. Usually free to low cost. Can find them in universities, colleges and museums. Probably other places too. Basically it consists of gesture drawing sessions followed by more intense studies of human bodies via models. Sometimes studies of skeletons, animals and other objects are studied also.
Gesture drawing sessions are basically quick studies of movement. Very important since this is a great way of giving you confidence, loose and quick drawings. You can think of it as the foundation for your drawings so you can add details to it later, with confidence.  :)

The government controlling the reality of prisoners.
. . . a brave new world.

Isn't that part of the point of prisons?

I get what he's saying. This can get out of hand and not just be used in prisons but on other populations of people as well. If you don't like a group of people and or their view points, just use these brain washing techniques. Yes, this stuff can be abused. See how the charter of rights in your country can change due to terrorism. Look at how our freedoms have eroded. Its scary what can happen in the near future.  :(

What happened in the US with this net neutrality is eventually going to happen in Canada despite what our government says.  And we have terrible monopolies happening over here as well.  ::)
Yup a slow boil brought to you by the so called elite of the world.

Chinese copyright law is very different from what it is in most other countries.

And legal or not, they can copy absolutely anything anyone is selling online (and offline). Anywhere. And it happens a lot.

Still, there is business going on in the rest of the world. Just another thing to consider when setting your prices, that's all.

If you have a unique design, you need to take care of your branding and make people not want to buy ripoffs.

Thought so. That was my experience with Cafe Press. Tried it quite a while ago. Zip in sales. Probably too much competition and stuff gets buried fast with only a basic account. But still some artist/designers seem to still manage make some kind of a living. Saw a really fancy airbrushed shower curtain for sale there with a mermaid theme on it. Can't imagine that guy not making a sale. But then he does have a premium account. So.......

« on: December 11, 2017, 00:12 »
I'm a little curious about this tee shirt place called Teeporium.

Basically you provide your graphic and if your Canadian you get excepted, they sell your work and supposedly you get some cash.

Has any one tried this place or has any one tried these other tee shirt places for your designs?
Are they any good in terms of payment, do they treat you right?
Is it worth it?  :)

Class action lawsuit?

Class action DOS. If every contributor affected by these dirtbags (hundreds of thousands?) accessed the site say two or three times a day...a perfectly legal way to hack the hackers. I highly doubt their hosting plan allows for that kind of bandwidth. Just don't click on any ad links though.
Or better yet block those ads.

General - Top Sites / Re: Same images across different sites?
« on: November 03, 2017, 22:45 »
Yes to uploading to other sites. I would avoid IS just because they seem to cheat lots of people by giving you a share of practically nothing. I only signed up but decided not to upload there.
As for uploading to other sites not every site will except all images and not every person/buyer checks out every site, so it works out in the end.  :)

I wish there was a really great alternative to Illustrator.  :( And don't point me to Inkscape. The last time I tried it, some of the features did not play well with Illustrator.  :(
What about Affinity Designer?
https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/

I'll check it out. Thanks a bunch.  :)

In my parents language Nimia actually means "don't have". That is if you change the "I" to e, remove the other "I" and then you have Nema as in don't have.  :P

No I would not. I already have my own on line personal port.
Besides I wish ss would fix their real problem. With people stealing images without the water marks. ::)
