Just sold a video for 75 credits today (1080p). Anyone know when the price went up? Although strangely in the control panel all my 1080p videos are still listed as 50 credits but the page for buyers is showing the newer prices. So what is our commission and where is it displayed?
Small 10 -> 15 Medium 20 -> 30 720p 40 -> 60 1080p 50 -> 75

Throughout your time as a microstocker, which sites have you submitted to and then after some time decided to delete your port and close account. And what were your reasons. eg. No sales, poor commission, treated badly etc.

Nice to see someone bringing up this subject, i too have been very disgruntled with video sales at istock, but to be fair it appears to be pretty bad all around. However as a fellow non-exclusive it's not just the poor sales performance lately which i am annoyed about it's everything. Review times have gone back to 1 month+ and now the instant purchase feature for a video really does highlight the degree to which we are all getting shafted in terms of commission.
The review team have high standards and will reject for any small reason which in turn forces you to plan, execute and scrutinize your work even harder in order to get it accepted which isn't a bad thing in itself. But then add to that the annoying ftp upload procedure and then on top of that you have to create screenshots of your work to prove that you didn't use any 3rd party plugin preset or what not. This all takes time and it would be nice if you got a fair commission to compensate all the time lost, or at the very least some healthy sales.
And to add insult to injury i will be dropping a level because i didn't earn enough redeemed credits. And because of their RC system I'm well on my way to a pay decrease at the end of the year.
Sigh.

I'm a video contributor with a port of only around 130 videos however sales are fairly consistent each month which is encouraging, and Duncan sounds like a really honest chap.
However, i can't help but think that if us video contributors were pushed further up in the search instead of being lumped at the very back of the search results (heck i'd even be happy if videos were somewhere in the middle) and in addition were given the ability to change thumbnail to represent what the video is about instead of a blank, I'm confident that my sales would be much higher. And course that would mean a higher margin of profit for you as well Duncan as video sells for much more.
At the moment i feel like we are being choked for some reason which i do not know.

I think its a good idea personally, trouble is i think everyone has a different idea. However looking on the brighter side, whatever the outcome it may not be perfect but would be a darn sight fairer than the majority of the current big agencies out there. I think all it would need is for a few people to take the reigns and come up with a proposal and then maybe setup a donation fund to get it running. Like this for example in terms of people donating money for something that they want http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ouya/ouya-a-new-kind-of-video-game-consoleThe downside would obviously be many people with many different ideas but if someone were to come up with a proposal of how it might work you could simply agree then donate and become a part of it or not agree and stay out of it. The upside would be portfolio, just think of how many talented top players visit here, this has got to be the single most biggest thing that agencies want and we could have it immediately - portfolio. This would send shivers down any agency's spine

Around 30c for a photo really is low and it saddens me to hear you are receiving that for your hard work and talent. I know this is microstock but not freestock, no photographer deserves such a low amount of commission. It's agencies such as this one and FT which are killing the industry and we as a contributor only have one strong response which we can make.

I agree, $11 is not encouraging at all for the sale of a 1080 video. I can't remember any stock photo/footage site starting out with giving such low commissions.
I myself will not bother as I am testing out the middle tier market with 123rf which launched video before you and pays better.
IMO you need to try harder in order to attract talented videographers with much better commissions, and that is just a start.

Oh crap, I'm glad i checked this thread as the radio buttons are indeed defaulting to yes and by mistake i had one file selling as exclusive.
Not sure if defaulting to 'yes' was intentional or by mistake on fotolia's behalf.

Ive had a few so far since the addition of video but they are very sporadic like you would expect from a middle tier site launching a new channel. I was actually hoping for more judging by the PR launch statements but i guess its still early days to tell. Just hope 123rf go all guns firing on the video marketing and promotion side. Has this happened yet? Will this happen?

I give any new site a 6-7 month chance to sell at least a few vids, but 3 years? IMO you should have pulled your port from there a long time ago.

I gotta say that i feel sorry for the logo folk, i remember sjlocke reminding everyone in the logo forum to put their efforts out there on other sites and make it work for you instead of waiting for istock to get their act together, just hope most of them listened. Patience is a virtue they say, but maybe this doesn't apply to the microstock industry.

Yeah, i already opted out a while ago in disgust at the prices but opted back in again because when opted in your port gets shifted to the front of the search engine, i have to grit my teeth and live with it unfortunately.
