Congratulations, well deserved.  I am amazed that they have taken so long to make you featured photographer.

I got 3.20$ for an xs  :) :) :)
Makes the 20c or even less that you get at IS for an XS seem pretty pathetic.

I almost never get a rejection on fotolia.  I find that IS is by far the hardest site and in almost every batch I get a couple of overfiltered rejections although last month they didn't reject anything.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Istock subs... How much did you get?
« on: August 02, 2008, 18:56 »
As I said I'm not complaining just answering the OP.   I think that the way IS have handled sub sales is a lot fairer than the way most of the sites do it and it's just unlucky for me they they mostly bought xs.  While the number of sub sales are so low it really doesn't matter anyway.

11 now and only 3 were more than 19c.  My average is less than what I get on SS.  I'm not complaining as I guess that I have just been unlucky,

70% of mine have been 19c commissions :(

So it sounds like you've been selling mostly XS images then. What sizes are you selling on SS?
Oh never mind, I guess it doesn't matter. I also wonder why there aren't more sales on IS, but I suspect part of it is portfolio subject matter and how it matches up with those buyers that would have a subscription plan.

Go to istock and put in the word 'nobody' in  the search and sort by popular to get a good idea of what is selling without people.

No, unfortunatly you can't opt out of subs at DT
As a DT contributor (don't get me wrong, I like DT, they gave me my first sales in micro),
can I opt out of sub. This is not an option, is it?

I'm having my 2nd best day ever today at FT.  I seem to always come out well when they mess up the search for other people.  :)

You have some very nice images but I agree with Miz that they have very limited commercial  value.  I think that the reviewers are a lot tougher on  the technical aspect of images that aren't good stock images. Have a look through magazines and advertising posters to get ideas of what sort of images are needed.
Good luck

This month DT and FT are doing great but SS despite uploading what I think are some of my best photos yet and IS are between 30 and 40% down.  The other smaller sites are about normal.

2188
Which means that you then miss out on having credit sales at large sizes.
But you can downsize your images to 3MP. You will feel better when you get $0.30 (or less) for 3MP subs download than for full size 16MP.

The whole sites down for me. I managed to get through to my stats page at one point and somebody has stolen yesterday's dls.  It said that I only had 1 :(
PS change the title of your post, it says IS not SS ;)

Yes I agree it's nice to get a record.  I was really pleased to see one of my image in best of month but the sales didn't spike after it got in there.
Your multiple sales are more because it's a good image than because it was shown on that page.

LOL  ;D
I think he means that he can't find anything to complain about and is losing his reputation as a complainer.

Ah!....... a person in need of help!  (oh goody)

Well sir, you came to the right place. Everyone aboard this forum has plenty of excessive help just oozing from them.
I have so much help in me,....it's dripping all over the floor at my feet right in front of me as I type this.

So you think you need help because as you state; "I am loosing my reputation here..."
It is not clear to me at this point that you have in fact established a reputation here on this forum.
Perhaps I am mistaken? If so, would you kindly state what it is exactly your reputation here is, when it was established, and for how hong have you had it.

That information is paramount in securing your reputation, and setting down the guidelines in us trying to help you maintain it.
I am awaiting you to provide this information before I can proceed to help you. Rest assured though we will do our best to help you keep and matain the reputaton
you have worked so hard for and rightly deserve.

Congratulations but I don't think that it will have any effect on sales.:(
I doubt if many of the buyers even know that the page exists. I have had images in those pages but have never noticed it affecting sales.  Having an image on the  homepage is a lot more likely to bring in sales.

2197
So are you saying that if I put in 'group of people' and then check 'large group of people' that my image would only be found by somebody that puts in 'large group of people' but not by somebody that puts in 'group of people'?  I always assumed that it would be found on both as if not the image would be found in a lot less searches and would be seriously disadvantaged by checking any of the boxes.

The iStock CV does not work that way, ie, search for dog and anything under dog comes back.  The Getty one does though.

Very nice images, no need for kindness  :)

I had the word children taken out of what was my best selling image of a group of children.  I put it straight back in as I didn't want to waste days of sales while they sorted it out.  If there had of been any doubt about the keyword then I would have sent off to 'keywords' to get it put back  but if I was asked to give a priority order to my keywords on that image my first word would be children.
