I haven't uploaded at StockXpert for the past few weeks as I've been busy with a couple photoshoots and building up my Veer port. I usually wind down uploading aroung this time of year anyway as summer I find is kinda slow for stock sales anyway. By summer's end SS should have their tax requirements figured out (hopefully), the StockXpert debacle will have settled down, and the first signs of the viability of Veer will be coming into play. Im taking a bit of a wait and see approach over the summer.

My test batch of 32 images tha tI submitted several days ago have now all been reviewed. Out of the 32, 6 got rejected. 3 were "limited commercial value" and 3 others were rejected based on submitting too many images with similar content. It seems they don't want too many photos of firefighters battling house and car fires all at once.

Hmmmm maybe I should request a payout from StockXpert while I still have the chance! Most of my sales came from Photos.com and Jupiter, so I imagine my sales at StockXpert will really tumble now.

At this point I would tend to believe Veer over SS. I also have my minimum payout raised with the SS so they have time to get their act together and I have time to respond. They really seem to be dragging their feet over there at SS.

Let's also keep in mind that "Veer marketplace", while maybe not the greatest of names (although it's pretty good) still beats the patooties out of a name like "Yay Micro!" Anybody with a cheesy sounding name like "Yay Micro!" already has alot going against them.

Yes I really like the way Veer is looking and how organized they are. I hope we as contributors are successful over there.

I believe they won't be showing those stats for a couple of months yet.

Still so far a slow month for me there. Hopefully things are turning around though.

I thought you were talking about Alberta Canada there. Here in the SW corner of Canada we're in the middle of a 30cel heatwave.

I had around 50 deactivated files reactivated several months ago. I had originally deactivated them last year because I was going to submit those images to Photoshelter (remember Photoshelter?). Anyway, admin restored all my deactivated images no problems.

I've been on the fence about going exclusive with IS since they're consistently accounting for around 60% of my monthy gross sales for the past few months. However, up until now I've still been actively uploading on DT, so I know that I couldn't go exclusive with IS until the beginning of December. It's a fact that I'm well aware of and so I have to plan 6 months in advance if I want to go IS exclusive if I keep uploading to DT.

Overall this was a BME for me! The breakdown as follows: IS: Nearly equaled my March 2009 BME: 46% SS: 2 EL's gave me a major increase over past months 32% DT: Down nearly 20% since last month but still ok: 12.5% StockXpert: Sloooow and steady wins the race. Up from last month 9.5% BigStock: almost a no-show this month NIL

Dang I only have 30 images on Veer compared to 89 on SV! Maybe more will get transferred over yet.

I asked SS this very question. I got this responce today from them, so yes it looks like opting out is the way to go. Thank you for contacting Shutterstock Support.
We understand that you have chosen to disable your Submit account, and the following are instructions on how to do so. Please remember that you are always welcome to reactivate your account by emailing [email protected]
As a user with an active portfolio of images, you can do the following:
1) Log into your Submit account at http://submit. Shutterstock.com.
2) In the Tools and Resources section, go to Your Account, and opt out of all sales types.
This ensures that your earnings payment will be sent during the next payout cycle, as long as you have reached the minimum payout level.
If you wish to hold off on your next payout, please set the Minimum Payout field to an amount higher than your current earnings. This will halt your payout.
Note that your referral earnings will continue to accumulate, even though your own images are no longer available to our subscribers. By opting out of all sales types rather than removing your images, you will not need to re-upload the images if you decide to return to Shutterstock at a later time; you can simply reactivate your images by opting back in.
Best regards,

Judging from his/ her/ it's posts, I'd say Old Hippie is just messing with all of you.

I got the email too. It would stand to reason then that other US based agencies should have the same requirements since it's US tax law. According to the email I got from Shutterstock, the June payout won't be affected by this but subsequent payouts will. Myself being Canadian and since IS is Canadian as well, it may be time to go exclusive with IS or else just drop SS. Incidentally, which of the other big Microstock agencies are also based in the US?

A few days ago I inadvertantly submitted a batch of 10 watermarked images to Dreamstime (I accidentally left the "add watermark" option on in Lightroom). The watermark produced in Lightroom is fairly small and is in the bottom left hand corner of the image. 5 of the images passed and are now accepted and 5 were rejected saying "please remove lettering". I guess the reviewers don't tend to look at the entire image.

I have 4 of my better sellers exclusive with DT and will see about making more that way in the future. I like DT and they've been giving me good sales lately.

I've found my acceptance level fairly steady lately (around 75% approval) and the majority of the rejections being the "well covered subject" excuse. Review times seem to be faster though with it being closer to 50 or so hours instead of the previously more common 96 hours.

If I had stock images of dynamite, maybe, but I don't, so I won't bother contributing.
