there was a contest, those of you who are complaining could have submitted options months ago. Tyler clearly likes his orange and the font (or typeface or typography, depending on how pedantic and hipster you wish to appear). It's his space; do you openly criticise the furnishings in your friend's house? Ouch! it's harsh here, even within the community. It's not my cup of tea either, but i like the change.

you locked up the mirror on a tripod at 1/125 whilst using a 50mm? and I thought I was a bit anal. I still sharpen in camera raw but rarely much after that.
Well... it's not hard to do. If you use the shutter delay on Nikon cameras, you just put it on a tripod, compose your shot, and hit the button. The mirror goes up, a second later, the shot it taken.
yes, but in my case the 50mm is one of the few lens/bodies combos that gives me more freedom with handholding. i can shoot at 1/90 no worries. else push to ISO200. I guess I've gotten a bit soft cos I shoot for a lot of websites and I often push my ISO up.

i put a photo onto all my releases, I'm using one of Yuri's although I changed the formatting slightly. However, for when you are out and about without a release, use a digital one. Some (most?) agencies will accept the digital releases, I'm using Top Model which prompts you to take a photo of the model as part of the process, and it emails a pdf to you and the model. pretty nifty.

I still don't see how all those Symbiostock people don't push the Self-Hosted into the numbered area. I guess a lot of people don't vote at all.
When people talk too much about Symbiostock it tends to disturb the peace. I find people like their little world of stock-philosophy to remain undisturbed by notions of independence and moving on.
quite impressed that the self hosted is now so high. I'm surprised Stocksy isn't registering yet also. If little 'ol me has it as my #2 then surely others are experiencing good sales also.

my Saffer husband would say: milk tart or nougi tart (which is like a smashed up pavlova)

1) you are using another brand's flash with your Nikon. that's an issue. is the flash on manual too? I wouldn't guarantee them to work well together. put it on eBay and some sony user will snap it up. I only use Nikon speedlights and they work properly as they should...except, I find eneloops can cause erratic behaviour when they sit for too long, or are low.

Oh, and apologies to anyone not in the US for the complete incompetence of our elected government, if that is part of what's going on.
is that official? we've just gotten rid of a govt who spent their whole 2 terms saying "but look how awful everyone else is doing" as some kind of marker of their skills and justification for how we stayed afloat DownUnder. (actual truth: by spending the surplus left by the previous administration, plus a whole bunch more)

... watching CreativeLIVE, and seeing the reported sales on FAA, it seems that there's still a lot of discretionary money around in parts of the US.
But not if you're Banksy, apparently: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24518315
I'd be ok with $420 for less than a day of selling one color stencil spraypainted canvasses. Maybe I should go to NY and sell some "banksy's" myself...
I'd try Sydney or London to pull that scam.

custard with banana and nutmeg, or tapioca custard. my kids don't even like custard, and my husband was raised on store bought custard (horrors!), he likes thin and insipid custard which I refuse to make. if i had a time machine I reckon one of my destinations would be 1979 to my mum's kitchen.

How do you make the transition from "I'll give away anything to get noticed" to "Sorry, now you have to pay for my music"? amen to that. this is the ongoing problem in our industry.

a lot of smaller sites can be good if you find what sells well there. I sell more outback stuff on 123rf than anywhere else.

well I'm keen to apply. I can see a different style there from Stocksy, and I know I've got some great stuff that will fit in.

what a pr nightmare for them. how can we trust them with ongoing cc subs payments? they need a paypal option.
considering how greedy Adobe is, they could make you pay a bonus to further "protect" your registration/payment data !
these guys have no shame.
yikes! you may have just given them a brilliant idea.

i agree with cuppacoffee, concepts like "beautiful" "cute" and "gorgeous" are subjective, and we've all seen cases of it and rolled our eyes. it must drive designers nuts. How about the images that contain "london" or "new york" but don't have any connection to that city, apart from being shot there? ugh! we could go on with examples. excessive spammy keywording hurts us all.

The other important question for the contributors is in how many cases Offset actually achieves a sales price that is close to the price listed on the website. As we all know Getty has a huge variance in what customers pay so even with RM files and nominal high prices you might still end up with 5 dollar licenses, although the list price is hundreds of dollars. This is also what makes stocksy so interesting. They are already starting off at the "real" price point many high end customers are used too after their "special" discounts.
they also don't take the discount out of our cut.

Wow. Some people here really seem to think the only thinkable usage of a glamour shot is promoting prostitution. Not much artistic freedom left in a microstock fried market I guess.
lol, another hornymale photographer shooting soft porn glamour and calling it "art". Yep, and you only read the articles in Playboy too. FWIW those pics are stunning, in both an artistic and porny way. she's like selena gomez meets kardashian. I can see why you don't want to take them down.

Reading these threads I find myself wondering what blogs or magazines some people here are actually reading every day or whether they can see what they are looking at. And what other contemporary media they see everyday. Here, below for example, are 4 lifestyle sites / magazines which all have a deliberately contemporary look and feel.
meanwhile a hip, urban mag I work for, has recently published not one, but TWO stories where the writer took the photos. ugh. sometimes it's about the $. they now also have guest bloggers... read: young people with dubious skills & an iPhone, who write for free.

I started out very enthusiastic and uploaded to a lot of different sites. Now I am deleting my port everywhere but the top 5. it's just too much hassle for so little return.
ShadySue's comments about chasing up infringements is a good one. at least if you have the image on only one or two sites, you feel more in control.
