Weird that June seemed to be so bad for so many - bounced back to normal in July - is that also a trend?
Yes they do pay out really quickly.

and I've made a whopping $.35 this month to continue this NIGHTMARE!
if they had accepted similars, it would be 35cts times the number of approved similars i think dreamstime has gone noddy nod and is no more than a social-media, collecting likes for fb !!!
Are you one of the guys that would do the same tomato from a hundred angles - do you think that a buyer on a site that would accept them all would buy all 100?

There are some exclusives who are making good money because they have unique images that customers are willing to pay a higher price for. If your main subject is apples on white background, the customer will have to choose between buying your apple for $30 or a non-exclusive apple for $5...
Though, I believe there still is some value in going exclusive - mainly if you have limited time and want to focus on one agency. Financially it seems unlikely to pay off anymore unless you shoot high-end stuff (and even then...?).
very clear explanation and helpful insight, cheers MichaelJay. highlighting your points to note.
Except that if you have limited time, it's a hell of a lot easier and quicker to submit to multiple agencies using ftp and iptc encoded images than to submit to is alone - even with deepmeta....

So what would be the use if you get a number saying "the average Stocksy contributor makes 5% of his total royalties compared to Shutterstock"? It wouldn't say anything because it could be that (like in my case) they have >2.000 images on micrstock and <200 images on Stocksy. Or it could be that they have about even numbers on micro and on Stocksy. Or they could have images on Stocksy only. So what use would it be to compare an image exclusive agency to all those non-exclusive microstock platforms? Actually that would be interesting info.. Using your example numbers, it would mean that images earn about half what they do on SS so something a little better than DT or FT except harder to get approved.Very similar vibe to what exclusivity at IS had in the past but with a fraction of the revenue?

So here's my RPI in IS since I started - "getting better" would not be the first description I'd use. Also, if you don't submit somewhere where there is some sort of acceptance standard it will be difficult to grow / improve.

Actually July turned out to be average after an appalling June

Why post at the end of a 7 year old thread?

Happened the same. Started a couple months. I can see new images sell very good. 1-2 month(s). Decrease about 50% with "old" images. So many images at SS, no way. Iam happy with IS: increase by time, SS decrease by time.
You're kidding, right?

Those who are opt in on DPC, they say: we need time to figure out of DPC is hurting our sells on other sites or not. But they don't have a clue of where the sells come from on their list of sold images, either from Fotolia and DPC. then they see less ODDs on Shutterstock and say that there is no proof that DPC is responsible for that loss. then they see a day with more ODD and SOD and post "oh see? see? that'a proof that DPC is not hurting our sells" How can they possibly guess, if in one day they have 100 subs + 7 ODDs, that in reality they could have 110 subs + 10 ODDs if they weren't on DPC.. I would like them to explain, how possibly can they prove/know for sure, in a year from now, that their sells were/are not being affected by DPC. Because I must be really dumb, but I can't see a way to realize that. Conversely, how can you prove / know for sure that they are?As far as Im concerned the jury is out. A few cents per sale is across the board not just this one site AND its the only place that pays in which is a 35% bonus at the moment.

Last month was the worst since Oct 10 for DLs and $ and the worst ever RPI, this month ordinary level bad. April though was a BME and pushed SS for earnings.
123 has been surprisingly good - #2 last month

I thinks trends at IS are pretty obvious to anyone who submits there.

Is stocksy a great agency? Take away the elitist element, is it making more for contributors than those agencies that the rest of the great unwashed contribute to? (no sarcasm here, genuine question)
I see no evidence that the OP is not concerned with a USP - quite reasonable that this might take a bit of thought but a different USP is not the same as no USP.

No idea - probably something to do with that new scheme everyone opted out of?
Great panos btw - am surprised how well they are displaying as thumbs.

That's what I'm talking about, while 200 similar images like that go through, my 5 totally unique landscapes from Macedonia or whatever get banned. It's like composition doesn't matter anymore, as long as you have a super fancy camera. That's why I strongly prefer IS atitude over SS when it comes to image acceptance.
The reviewers are not the problem, the competition (other contributors) is and landscape has got to be one of the toughest areas in which to compete. I do OKish images that don't sell particularly well but hardly ever get a rejection because there is less competition.

Has anyone been punished for being critical of a site as opposed to being engaged in activities against the site's commercial interests?

I thought that also but noticed someone with lower sales on DT but 4 times the port shows higher...

Are those little dials to represent IS and DT performance based on port size or sales?
