Was intent on upgrading to the Air 3 for the reasons you outlined but have had second thoughts after recent declines in my stock ports earnings + not being able to sell my Air 2 combo.

Could not have foreseen such poor results with a grand total of $2.30 for the week. But even Adobe Stock has fallen to well under half usual weekly earnings this past week with the lowest since January which is typically very slow (trend line 1 Jan to 6 July attached).
It's the start of the new financial year here in Australia so might have something to do with it but even Shutterstock was doing a whole lot better in July 2023.

Seems to me that getting out of stock all together and removing a portfolio is poking oneself in the eye. Just leave the portfolio to produce whatever it can under new plans but stop investing in creating new content if it doesn't make business sense to continue to do so.
Unless you have other options for that portfolio and then it would make sense to remove it.
Says he is going to go independent as the technology enables it now (I assume this means something like his own website but not sure). I can understand the frustration with building an exclusive portfolio of 37000 clips and then come Shutterstock with its controlling influence begin tampering with exclusive ports. But surely had to see that coming sooner or later. I'd never go exclusive with them or any agency for that matter.

Reading on FB a contributor with 37000 exclusive clips on Pond5 said in a discussion on the OP message he will likely be suspending all of it and getting out of stock entirely. Thought this was an interesting comment from someone with a well developed port.

Didn't think AI would be impacting video sales much at all yet. Maybe I been too hopeful of AI disrupting stock footage.

How can Pond5 compete with so many other agencies offering base subscription prices. I haven't had one sale on Pond5 since June 6 and while I'm not a volume seller on Pond5 I do get quite regular sales, usually. I feel the whole stock market is under pressure now, even Adobe Stock is showing signs of slowing which together with other agencies falling sales is indicative of a broad marketplace slowdown.

Odesigns, I remember you showed some big drops in sales on Shutterstock a couple of months back. Has there been improvements since then?

Charts, charts and more charts! But first some commentary... I managed to achieve my minimum monthly acceptable amount which is $1k combined for the four agencies I contribute to: Shutterstock, Pond5, iStock and Adobe Stock. Adobe Stock was again the strong performer. June 2024 earnings overall was actually down 19.6% on June 2023 despite continuing uploading (especially videos) over the year. I'm kind of still happy with this result as I feel global inflation is probably putting some pressure on budgets for spending on stock photography and videography. Early in the month I thought it was going to be Shutterstock to win my nomination for Alex Rotenburgh's Turd of the Month Award. But as the month came to a close, it was Shutterstock's controlled Pond5 that won the nomination for the Turd Award for June 2024 with not a single sale after June 6! Well, may as well be both Shutterstock and Pond5 win nomination for the big Turd Award. A brief explanation of the following four charts: 1) YTD earnings from January to June 2020 to 2024 2) YTD earnings from January to June 2024 by agency 3) Month of June comparison for each year 2020 to 2024 4) A different kind of chart here that shows how each agency performed in June 2023 compared to June 2024. I hope you find this entertaining.

A nice surprise this morning at Shutterstock. My highest image sale ever. It's an editorial photo from the 50s with 2 American celebrities.
Congratulations! When I was looking earlier on my phone with my aging eyes, I mistakenly saw the 5 as a $ and thought yeah $44 not bad. Didn't realise it was a $544 sale!

This is my best ever sale on Dreamstime. I don't even mention Dreamstime when talking about the monthly totals.
Just goes to show Dreamstime can deliver some good sales albeit on the very rare occasion for mine...

Must be a slow week for everybody. Average downloads, lower revenue, but higher ranking. I'm happy about the ranking at least.
Congrats on your very steady port.
In my case the current rank is actually an improvement to last week and at least I will make 100 dollars thanks to a video sale.
I am also seeing a little uptick in the people I upload. They need time to get noticed but then they are quite consistent. Still only 700 people stock, a long way to go.
Now I have 5200 files. Mostly seasonal images for winter/spring.
At least it is better than last year June, probably will be 30% more than June 23.
Cobalt, you are on the best sellers list again, even with your 5200 weekly ranking. Congratulations. (100,000 downloads and 100 pages?, unless its a different Cobalt)
Whats your lifetime rank? May be thats what we should look at as well?
I stand to be corrected, but I would argue that this is a different cobalt!
It looks like a Cobalt, walks like a Cobalt, quacks like a Cobalt but..... probably not this Cobalt.

Last two days of the week:
Thursday 1 sale for 10 cents Friday zero sales
All this place can achieve on two weekdays is an average of 5 cents a day with 2500+ videos and 1700+ images.
And it's not like my content doesn't sell. I regularly sell over 70 videos a month on iStock as well as about the same in images and sell a good amount of photos and videos on Adobe Stock (which currently has 220% more earnings this month than Shutterstock), and even doing kinda okay on Pond5.
Last year, whenever I had a couple of low consecutive days it was almost certain it would be followed with a high-price video sale. But those sales have vanished this year. Maybe those sales are still happening but I'm not seeing them.

Yeah I thought about Youtube. Have a channel with 352 subs but it's in a niche I don't really want to grow to monetization (drone footage). Have barely put anything into to it over the past couple of years. It does show me though that if I put in the effort I could probably grow a channel to monetization but there are two prevailing issues that hold me back: 1) What is something I'm really interested in / passionate about that I know I can go out time and time again to continue creating videos to publish; and 2) Will that topic or niche be surely sufficiently popular to interest a large enough audience to grow in subs and views that will make it worthwhile financially - considering the likelihood of a low(er) CPM. Perhaps there's something that can be combined with microstock. I like plane spotting for example and some of those channels grow quite large but I think the CPM is low on that. Nevertheless you could post those photos and clips on stock sites as well as the YT channel. I'm not interested in or otherwise skilled and qualified to have a channel on finances and wealth (or similar) that do have higher CPMs. Other than that, I just can't find the spark to get started on Youtube or anything else for that matter.

In terms of earnings, down 57% on last month and down 17.5% on May 2023. That said, wasn't a terrible month and probably a bit better than average.

Since 6 June, my download figures have deteriorated dramatically. Am I the only one or is it the same for someone else?
Download numbers while not good I can't see any dramatic drop off from normal. But the RPD is completely abysmal. For me, Shutterstock doesn't even look the same agency as it did as recent as last year with its consistently poor performance.

Wasn't so much the volume of sales but the RPD and therefore the weekly revenue that took the hit this week and the lowest in 3 months.

This week, dear friends, the struggle is real...

I noticed when I first checked the results for May and then re-checked just now there were further sales coming in for the month (eg: another 22 video sales). So there's probably some delay even with the previous month until the sale is confirmed and complete.

Check out the new Content Statistics page on iStock. This is a welcome feature. Stats are updated daily when filtered for month-to-date. There's some other filter options there too.
Check it out!

Had just on 75 dollars of sales overnight which helped with the weekly RPD which was struggling 'til then.

lol for people posting charts without context, i.e., numbers/$$$... kind of meaningless... as one could have gone from "$1" in one month to "$3" in the 2nd month... so rather funny...
anyhoo. focusing on increasing sales myself as well
Well probably because we don't want to disclose earnings. But I get your point if someone has a tiny port and then triples the port size then of course their earnings can easily double from there. For mine, if I achieve over $1000 (USD) a month from the four ports I contribute to then it is a satisfactory month. With exception of Dec 2023 and Jan 2024, I have achieved over $1000 (USD) a month every month since June 2023.

This is the worst ranking in over 6 months. From a brief day at 250, all the way down to 7020.
It was a public holiday in Germany on Thursday and many people took Friday off, so two days missing. Also shows how dependent I am on the German market.
But I am working hard and things will get better. Winter is coming.
Just checked my weekly ranking and like yours, has dropped to the lowest I've seen it in months. Earnings are at the lowest in 5 weeks and (despite this) still not too bad for the week as I sell mainly video with higher RPD. But quite surprised to see the weekly rank drop down so much. Suggests to me that from here, the only way is up.

Second best overall month in stock photography and videography | BME on Adobe Stock | BME on iStock | Reasonably good month on Pond 5 | Mediocre month on Shutterstock
Shutterstock was the lowest of the four agencies for May 2024 though still running in 2nd place YTD earnings.
Three Charts
1) YTD earnings Jan to May - Comparison of each year from 2020 to 2024 2) YTD earnings Jan to May - Comparison by agency for 2024 3) Earnings for the month of May - Comparison of each year from 2020 to 2024

Just received $28.40 contributor fund payment.
Anyone else?
At least Shutterstock pays contributors for its use however a poorly performing agency compared to what it once was.
