Well it was a great game even if the Steelers won again. It went to the end ad I am fat and happy. Hope everyone enjoyd the game. Next year the Seahawks will make a comeback
Best, AVAVA
Yep, that was a pretty good game. You almost got your justice you were looking for. Completed pass on 3rd down that ended up a safety because of a holding call. I guess it aint over till its over

I would get the old 5D. Its a great camera and very little noise. You can probably pick one up cheap these days. Comparing pictures from my 5d next to my 1D's mk III the difference is very little. Just the size is different. Just my opinion, hope that helps
I'd agree with all of that. You'll find the full-frame sensor much better for landscape work too. I sold off my 5D when I upgraded to the 1Ds MkIII but in some ways I regret doing so.
right!! kind of like: ya, the 1d is a better camera but was it worth the extra 5,000.00... NOOOOOOOOO!!! especially with new 5d out with basically same sensor. Live and learn I guess? Another misconception that I was under was XXL size would sell enough to make up for the price tag. I'm finding that most designers/buyers don't buy XXL size(unless subscription of course), 12mp seems to be plenty of sensor.

Signed up a couple of weeks ago. Cool site! looking forward to the addition of the other missing sites, particularly FT, STX.
It doesn't appear to be recording EL sales properly, maybe Rahul can clarify this?

Thanks a lot ma that is a big help. Sounds like a lot cheaper route to go and we could just keep the back up drives off site.
Thx Again, AVAVA
or you can buy 7,500 standard DVD's...lol

Another interesting thing about best match 2.0 is it might prove to be a usefull keywording tool. You can browse similar images and get an idea of the keywords most often used for downloading a particular file type. I'm not suggesting copying someone else's keywords but you can at least make sure you have the 4 most popular "relevant" words.
I copy keywords all the time..In fact i use the search engine facility like a buyer to hunt down a similiar photo to the one i am about to upload for inspection. Mid adult, one mid adult man,mid adult men, carrying on shoulders, vibrant color, real people, stereotypically working class. The more you copy the more you learn. So i copy other's peoples keywords ...call the cops !
your in big trouble mister

Are the search results generated with BM2 these days or not?
The answer would be "no" at this point. They mention in the thread that they will be testing a beta version in house, if all goes well will release shortly after. If you open up a image on istock there is a tab that says "more like this" Its my understanding this running on best match 2.0 ,this will give you an idea of what the search is going to be like. I must say it looks quite impressive going from that. Everyone else will be playing catch-up

I don't watch much NFL these days but I'll be rooting for Arizona. Was pulling for the Seahawks in the losing effort against the Steelers also, to bad.
I remember back in 95 when the Chargers snatched a trip to the superbowl from the Steelers only to get crushed by San Fran. That was brutal, but the win against the Steelers by blocking a pass at the goal line in the final seconds was sweet!! I'll never forget it..great sports moment for me. Right up there with USC completing a 4th and 9 to win the game in South bend in 2005.. Matt Leinart was the QB who now rides the pine for Arizona.
Love college ball and would love to see the BCS system abolished. Bring on the playoff!!! Last year was joke.

Hi CD,
I figure there is always a back up version at the agency but the Macros make you pay full price for your own work so it might get pricey to download your entire portfolio if you wanted to, If you want to. I was just thinking it is probably better to keep them in two different locations and then wait for technology to catch up to that much data. You never know though we might come up with great new compressions that make that amount of info a thing of the past in size. Tough call. Thanks for the thoughts.
Best, AVAVA
Probably around $6,000.00 to buy 60 (1 terabit externals) plus time spent trying to transfer all the info(especially if you have some older drives)..I can see why your looking for a server. Thats a lot of money to spend on back-up. I bet someone around here has a good answer. I recently tried to transfer some info from a 3-4 year old maxtor II one-touch and vista will not accept the drivers. So now I need an XP machine just to get the info off it. They didn't mention that in the manual

The good news is if one fails you still have 59 I wonder how many days it will take just to transfer that much data.

Well, I made more than I made last month....but Dec is always the worst month of the year. My sales have continued to fall slightly every month since last year. I am down about 30% from my BME in March of 2008. (With over 3000 images online) Right now I am struggling to maintain my current level and that is with adding around 200 new uploads every month. It is just getting harder and harder to have your pictures get any exposure with 70,000 new photos coming in every week.....and unfortunately I don't see anything changing in the future. A year or so ago when they were adding 20,000 new photos a week.....or 80,000 new images a month....my 200 new uploads accounted for .25% (1/4%) of the total new photos....Not much but at least I had some visibility. Now my 200 images account for only .005% ......I just can't keep up with the numbers and my images are getting lost in the Abyss.
Totally agree with everything you said. Its not that new people are going to come in and take sales or produce better material as some have mentioned. Its the problem of being visible in the sea of new material regardless of how good it is. I can see the effects of this clearly on shutterstock. Someone mentioned in another thread how few downloads it takes to make the top 50 now on shutterstock. In the past you would need 10-20 downloads/day average to make it, now it is far less. The sky is not falling, but things are surely changing. Getting exposure is and will get tougher and tougher. Whats the solution?? double, triple, production at same or better quality?? How about sending Christmas gifts to site admins

Stockxpert by far, sometimes even within a few minutes. Fotolia can be fast also if an image has been sitting in the unfinished state for a while.

According to this thread posted yesterday it appears best match 2.0 is still not live yet. http://www.istockphoto.com/forum_messages.php?threadid=83392&page=1only the "find similar" function is active. It looks to me like there are still to many old images dominating current best match search. I'm guessing things will look different when they finally release this thing. Then again, who knows!! good info sharply on exclusivity, I wonder how many people knew that.

*Just an opinion* This place can be rough at times. I don't post as much as others but most of us that have been here for a while have been beat up at one time or another. I guarantee if you stuck 2500 people in one house with the same job there would be some fighting/rudeness going on . As far as I know there have not been any physical injuries Just thickening of skin. I'm not sure how many different cultures are represented here but its a quite a few. I enjoy all the different personalities and opinions here even if its not the way I think, or do things. This is the best place to hang out if your a microstocker. There is pretty good mix of the "good, the bad, and the ugly". Its all fun and I try not to take it too personally. Everyone has different reasons for being here but I like to come here to get the "news" and "info" and if I happen to learn something... great! but I don't see it as strictly a classroom. Plenty of people here willing to share information and some that oppose it, so be it. People are free to think and do what they want here as long as it falls within the site guidelines. Sarcasm is allowed I believe. I would think an "Art Forum" would be bit different with a lot of stroke me I stroke you attitude. I'm not sure what this place is exactly but its usually interesting. If there is something important going on at one of the big 6 it will be discussed here. It just takes some getting used to. If there is ever a revolution(microstock) this is where it would be organized from If you look at the top of the page it says: "A meeting place for microstock photographers" thats about it.

It seems that if your images are available on fotolia then they are on pixmac also. Looked through a few images and didn't notice any sales. Doesn't look to promising. No pie there

I'm just guessing here but at some point when we reach 500,000 contributors..lol..The pie will be so small that no one will make a living. You would just have mostly people doing it for fun. Quality would suffer because it would not be cost effective or worth the effort. Full time talent will move up stream or to some other venue where they can survive if possible. At some point the sites will need to put barriers in place or they will slowly start to suffer, maybe were just not there yet. I consulted "the bones" and this is what they told me

Agree that Fast Food Nation is another eye opener. Personally I stopped eating fast food about 5 years ago. After eating anything I wanted (piss poor diet double cheeseburgers with extra grease fries and a shake diet etc.) for so many years my body started braking down. When that happens there are 2 choices: get on the "meds" or make some lifestyle changes. Its actually quite amazing to me that I was able to reverse many health issues by simply changing what I ate. No meds involved. It seems that the general USA mentality is "take a pill and you will feel better" or "cut it off" mostly just treating the symptoms and not the actual cause of the problem. Apparently the late night tv advertising is working. The percentage numbers for diseases in this country in recent years have gone through the roof.. like contributors at shutterstock. I can't remember where I got the info but they are predicting something like 1 out 5 kids born after the year 2000 will develop diabetes in his/her lifetime. Yikes!! I hope their wrong. And if anyone hasn't noticed the weight epidemic in this country than frankly they haven't been alive long enough. I hope I'm not sounding like a health freak here because I'm not, I just try to avoid the boxed, wrapped junk as much as possible

I tried the neutral gray wall thing at the last place I lived. Its kind of like working in a dungeon. Wouldn't do it again. ...
I was under the impression your office was a beach ... with white-bikini-wearing 'personal assistant'! (big grin)
