Hi guys... So you say you can avoid 2,5% loss by Paypal conversion rate if you withdrew to your mastercard/visa instead directly to your bank account? I started to accept old paper cheques just to avoid this stupid fee. I pay 1% from the cheque to the bank. But it is still better than Paypal conversion. Looking in my Paypal account I do not see any option to withdrow to my Mastercard, just to my bank account which is in my local currency... So is there any way how to work around this? Does this work just for Visa? Or credit cards instead of debit?

All I can say is that I'm British, and the sooner we are out of this silly, self serving, extra layer of unnecessary bureaucracy the happier I will be.
"Unsustainable" is a word that is often bandied around here.
That's what the EU is.
Yeh, on the other hand do not forget the primary purpose of the EU - which is peace among the member countries. What was unimanigable for hundreds of years was made possible by the establishing EU (or its predecessors). If one of the strongest EU countries leaves and the other follow, wouldn't there be a possibility of future wars again? I say lets reform and simplify this beast but keep it as tool which helps and not tries to rule us...

I read on a different site that there is a very strong French lobby of professional photographer association trying to push this through. Having no problem aquiring what is needed with the help of the association or as the freedom of panorama is already quite limited in France or Belgium, they want a weapon against competition in the other countries where the panorama freedom is implemented fully. Of course you the reason introduced by the EU is effort to unify rules of panorama freedom across the EU...

It is being discussed in EP and the change has a wide support... So, it is not included in the text yet. Well, I was looking for some information in English, for example here: http://www.communia-association.org/2015/04/15/reda-report-the-10-worst-and-the-5-best-amendments/
or here
http://arstechnica.co.uk/tech-policy/2015/06/european-parliament-committee-adopts-controversial-pro-user-copyright-reform-report/
it is number 4... Author of this amendemnt is Jean-Marie Cavada...

Hi, as a travel photographer I have just come across a terrible update of copyright law being amended by EU Parliament just now. Now law should be ready in July... Under this update, amendatory clause no 421 to EU directive 2001/29/ES it would be forbidden to publish and sell images taken on public property without a consent of all owners or copyright holders of the properties. This would totally remove freedom of panorama in the whole EU and forbid us selling and publishing photos of architecture, landmarks, cities in Europe... This would probably ruin my microstock business. Thanks EU. Thanks again... :P

123RF / 123 Payment delay
April 18, 2015, 06:41
Hi, does anybody have a payment delay with 123RF? I am usually being paid on 15th but this time nothing (and I have exceeded the payout limit of course)... Should I contact support or do you think it is just a general delay of theirs? Thanks

Shutterstock.com / Check payment help
February 20, 2015, 21:14
Hi guys, does anyone have any experience with check payment? I am an experienced contributor at Shutterstock (since 2007) but I have allways been paid via Paypal. But Paypal does not allow me to collect USD. The money can only be transferred in my local currency to my bank in the Czech Republic. Now I am planning a trip to USA and I will need dollars. It seems crazy to loose 2% during a Paypal conversion from USD to CZK and than another fee from CZK to USD to get dollars for my USA trip. Check mailed to my address and than taken to the USA where I will collect USD at the US bank seems as solution. Is it safe? I am afraid checks could be lost on the way or something... How long does it take usually? Thanks

They must be joking. I will not bear such a huge administrative burden with invoices and increased tax base just for couple of pennies from Photodune :-(

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: This one takes the cake

I still think it is a bug of somekind. I tried searching "bird" and "breast" in their system and the result was over 3000 images...

Guys, I think automated reviews are sci-fi :) From my point of view it is nearly impossible to create reliable automated reviewing software. Firstly, approval would be instant and as we know on many sites we wait for review. Secondly, the software would need to deal with legal issues, copyrights, model releases and missing releases not only keywords or quality issue. No software can make judgement if the photo is still ok or no-go. A man must do that. Software can give hints but it is allways up to reviewers to make a judgement. And thirdly, such a software would be very expensive and under a constant need to upgrade and update which would make it not very practical. In the case of problematic keyword: as far as I know Canstock accepts nudes so their system has to accept related keywords. I just think image got lost in the system. Have you tried reuploading? It helped in my case several months ago (but I had no problem with keyword just with some stuck images).

My super duper Nikon D810 si way more than enough for me... Seriously guys, do you know how difficult is to keep your image tack sharp and without shake at 36mpix when zooming? And do you know how challenging is to find fitting glass of quality to match this sensor? Well, good luck with 50mpix :-)

Mine were reviewed in 3 days... Well, I suppose some pictures take longer to process? Regarding the case of many months waiting I would not hesitate to upload those pictures again. I think that in September-October - according to CanStockPhoto forum - they were updating their system and some pictures might have got lost? By the way, my favourite site. Although sales are not high, they are constant, uploading is simple and rejection rate is low...

General - Top Sites / Re: EU VAT Changes!
December 18, 2014, 12:07
Sounds crazy. Honestly, I do not know what to say or how to react. We do not have access to the information whoom to were our pictures sold. And if we were to pay individual VAT to each country... It would completly destroy the business...

Yup, I use Bridge. I bought Lightroom 2 years ago, but never got used to it, so it just bites the dust.

CanStockPhoto.com / Re: Where is Duncan?
October 20, 2014, 17:00
I think Duncan is still at charge at Canstockphoto as he quite recently answered to one of my support tickets. As a regular contributor there I think the waiting time is getting shorter. It was 7-14 days in September and 1st half of October, now my stuff was approved in 3-4 days.

Canon / Re: G1X Mark II for shooting stock
October 12, 2014, 13:54
Why not? I have Nikon D810 with many lenses, yet in some cases I use my Sony RX100 with even smaller sensor to take pictures for stock... And the pictures are accepted by the sites.

Valo: That is a different kind of question. I am gathering information which sites accept German-keyworded pictures. If these sites are worth it is something different. My friend must sort this second question by his own. From my point of view Fotolia is a good earner. Not as good as Shutterstock but a decent one. Although their approach to contributors could be much better, they are still much much more acceptable for me than Istock and their ways to rip-off contributors.

Thanks everyone! So ok, no Shutterstock and Istock but yes to Fotolia!

General Stock Discussion / Submit in German?
October 05, 2014, 20:22
Hi guys, I just wonder... One of my friends does not speak English, is a long-time photographer, and wants to try microstock. However, I am not sure which sites allow contributors to upload with German metadata as German is the only international language he speaks. So far I am only sure about Panthermedia. Does any of you know if sites like Shutterstock, Fotolia, etc. allow submitting in German? Thanks

Off Topic / Re: Apple Watch is magic
September 10, 2014, 15:21
If you want "real" watch buy something with gears in it, something with a sound of ticking, something that lasts and you will be proud of even after 10 years. Will you get these features from this hyped overpriced iGadged? I refuse to belive so and will stick to my 12 years old but still beautiful Citizen watch :-) Sorry guys, I do not mean to flame but I cannot simple understand some products and the hype around it. Will we be soon buying super duper iTooth brush, iTrousers or iVacuum cleaner communicating with our iSmarthphones to be in and feel cool? Perhaps, perhaps we will :-)

Nice, do you accept just arabic-specific content or more general stuff as well?

No, I am really not a newbie. But I have never ever got such a low revenue for a Dreamstime EL sale. This makes selling ELs there pointless. I suspected this was due to low credit price, however I did not believe they would sell credits for just a few cents.
