I really like Mircostockr Pro. One request though: Could you allow multiple accounts per agency? This is important for iStock/Getty now that my iStock account and my Getty account use different logins on the same system.

I need this too!

An HD video costs less than a full size image! 5 credits vs 10 credits. Nope, nope, nope.

Pond5 / Re: The first Pond5 Global Partner is here: Adobe
« on: April 24, 2017, 19:10 »

As part of our previously announced Global Partner Program, Pond5 has officially signed eight hand-selected distribution partners, including a new partnership with Adobe, the industry-leader in creative desktop and mobile apps.

Sure would like to know exactly who the "eight hand-selected distribution partners" are?

Microstock Services / Re: Microstockr app support has gone?
« on: April 01, 2017, 12:40 »
Hmmm...Pond5 hasn't worked for months for me either. Also, I guess my yearly subscription just ran out as a few of the agencies just disappeared from my dashboard. No notice to resubscribe or anything, just gone.

Getty is not likely to remove your footage until your contract ends. If it's a true Getty contract (not iStock) it is probably several years long. Best to remove the same/similar footage at the other sites and then decide where you want your new material to go.

I'm really sorry but these sort of sales are increasingly what istock is sending our way. Wait until the new payment structure really kicks in in the next few months. There is no way to opt out. Expect much, much more of the same and worse. I think getty sees istock content as for just this sort of thing.

This is not just iStock by any means. This is what getty contract photographers have been seeing for years now. When Premium Access was launched it was a very small percentage of the monthly downloads and most sales were for regular (ie higher) amounts. Every year there are more PA sales and less regular sales.

What's even more frustrating is that many/most of the PA sales have big company names attached (ie, MTV, Viacom, Time Warner, etc.) and the amounts are pitiful. These amounts are often far lower than microstock rates.

BTW... how does one get their videos to Getty's website? And is really someone buying them for such ridiculous prices?

It's not a ridiculous price and yes people do buy them for that price and much higher. The ridiculous prices are the one's getty licenses through the premium access program.

I'm also having problems with Pond5. This should be fixed, it's not freeware.

Agreed!

Adobe Stock / Re: new $4.75 sales?
« on: February 06, 2017, 17:55 »
I've had a couple of these $4.76 sales today and was wondering the same thing about where these are coming from but I'm not complaining :)

Pond5 still not working for me?
Anyone else have this problem?
Pond5 hasn't worked in the iOS version for a long time.

Yeah I have the same problem. It's caused by updating to the latest versions of FCP X and Compressor. It's a VB's problem and they are aware of it but don't know when it will be fixed. In the meantime I've been re-exporting my files using MPEG Streamclip and that solves the problem but unfortunately that software strips out the metadata so I've been using a CSV at VB's for the past couple of weeks.

Should this be RF? I don't think so! :)

This whole RF v RM argument sometimes feels like that famous Stanford marshmallow experiment about delayed gratification.

In other words, I may either have many low-value (RF) sales now or be patient and get some huge RM later.

Or instead maybe just a couple tiny RM sales. While it's true that there is a possibility to make a large RM sale, it's also true that many/most RM sales are for small amounts. While it's true that the largest sales I've ever had we're RM it's also true that the smallest stock sales I've ever had were RM. No guarantees either way.

Selling Stock Direct / Re: 2017 Selling Direct, Personal Stores
« on: December 29, 2016, 00:28 »
...and there are other alternatives to selling direct already out there.

There are no cost effective ways to sell video directly which is primarily my interest. I've tried the few direct sell platforms that support video and they are very expensive and clunky. I love Leo's idea about using YouTube for previews. Built in promotion (YouTube videos rank very highly in google searches) and the cost of bandwidth from playing previews is eliminated. I'm interested!

Selling Stock Direct / Re: Best platform to sell direct?
« on: December 27, 2016, 01:54 »
you can sell your videos as downloads on Youtube (with a minimum 1000 subscribers) and Vimeo (pay service)

Last time I checked both of these services compressed the downloaded videos which is no good for stock video sales. With a few small changes Vimeo could be a great way to sell stock footage directly without a middleman.

Why would any non-exclusive upload video to istock in the first place?

Looks like Getty has continued on the path of making themselves less relevant.

No payments in a long time. I have several payments pending and no replies to my emails. This sucks!

GLStock / Re: GL News
« on: August 16, 2016, 11:57 »
@GraphicLeftovers I appreciate your openness and desire to communicate with us. Your one price for every size works great for me and I look forward to uploading to GL again. The only thing I would wish for are some even higher price brackets like $50 or $99. Is that a possibility?

they should up minimum pricing to a slightly more respectable $59

Agreed!

General Stock Discussion / Re: EyeEm

I think if I get outside images rejected  by SS , I am not good enough for Alamy or Getty.

Unbelievably it's much easier from a technical standpoint to get pictures accepted by Getty and Alamy than it is at SS.

So who's gonna answer "no" to that question?  ;)

Edit: Actually...is this a buyer or contributor survey?

Update is already available. I just updated and the crash is fixed. Thank you for the quick response!

App auto updated today for iOS and now it crashes immediately every time it opens.  :'(

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Video on istock
« on: June 13, 2016, 08:20 »
iStock can change anything they want to but unless the royalty rates change dramatically I won't be submitting any video to them, period. Unless they've finally wised up (doubtful) any BIG announcement will just be a bunch of fluff.
