Shutterstock.com / Re: Contributor page's new design
« on: August 23, 2022, 09:13 »
Just noticed that the earnings page changed again.

I looks a lot like the old page, and so far I like it  :)

27
It's not so easy to see in the statistics, but I think on average I have about one image sale out of 100 larger than 20$.

And I think it's about the same as before, but the average amount is lower now. And my total number of sales is also lower.

28
I fill out in the beginning of the month, but it seems that there isn't a lot of interest for the poll anymore.

« on: July 14, 2022, 07:30 »
Me too, but for an image sold in July 2016.
Now I just noticed, that this refund is for the same sale as the first refund in april.

So now waiting to see, if there are more refunds in the next days, as there were in april. Unfortunately I only noted sale details for the first refund in april.

To me, the Wirestock concept seemed great, so I started uploading to them.

But soon, long review times started to annoy me, and also that I didn't know if my images were accepted or rejected by the different agencies. There were also some strange rejections by Wirestock. And it could take weeks from an image was accepted by Wirestock, till it showed up at for example Shutterstock.

Then I had five images that I wanted removed again, because they were more artistic than my usual stock photos, and I wanted them to be accociated with my own name. I wrote Wirestock, and they agreed to remove them.
But after the 90 days + 30 days for each 100 items in my portfolio that are stated in "Terms of Use", 3 out of the 5 images were still online.

I wrote Wirestock that they had not lived up to their own "Terms of Use" and that I now wanted to terminate my account, which they agreed to to do.

So, now I just hope that they will live up to the 120 days that they need according to their "Terms of Use" when it comes to termination of an account.

But I have tried Wirestock now, and it's not for me. Guess I prefer to be more in control at each agency.

For those still seeing the new design, try clearing your browser cache and cookies
A reboot of my PC did the trick :-)

I realize that it will probably be short-lived, but the old page (thankfully) is back.
I still have the new Earnings Summary page  :'(

Photoshop Discussion / Re: PS Update a big mistake
« on: May 29, 2022, 08:19 »
If your GPU is very old, it might not be compatible with PS.

I had that problem with my laptop, but I found a way to force PS to use it anyway.

You can try to making a .txt file called PSUserConfig.txt, containing the following:

# Force GPU On
GPUForce 1

And save it in [Installation Drive]:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\[Photoshop_version]\[Photoshop_version]Settings\

Why is it that often when they want to offer something new it is worse than the last version??

I know new things need some time to get used to, but with some things I know right away that I will never like them. In the old version every important info was visible at one glance. You could at once see how many videos or singles or ELs you had sold on a day. Now you have to navigate through dropdown menus and choose categories and file types to be able to see that. What kind of improvement is that?
I totally agree.
If only it would remember my choices, so that I wouldn't have to select them every time.

This morning, it looks like the refunds I had, have been removed again.

Even though it's an old thread, it go me curious too.

So I made this chart, with data from 11 years.
October is a clear winner, but the differences are not that big.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Wirestock - sales dried up
« on: August 22, 2021, 04:32 »
Do you think the sales numbers are lower via Wirestock, than than would have been if you used your own personal accounts at each agency?
Thanks to those of you who answered my question.

The reason for my question is that I'm considering deleting my files on SS, and upload them via WS instead. After a necessary wait of course.

But if the general feeling was that sales are worse via WS, I wouldn't do it.

For now, I think I will upload new files to WS, and by the end of the year see how they have done.

If you move your photos from SS to SS via WS you should have in mind:
As older your images, as more often they could be rejected now cause of the AI review process on SS.
With other words: Newer Images which passed via AI will be pass again. Rejected ones - as mentioned from others above - might get accepted now, because more accepted images via WS.
I luckily moved the most before the AI review and got most of them accepted again. My last batch - well they were indeed the worst ones in case of motifs not in kind of quality - most got accepted and some got sales directly and funny: also instant pay to SS (3.83$ each).
Thank you for the advice. I will keep that in mind  :)

Can't believe that people now love renting their images for $5 for whole year.. 12 months..  I'm not with Adobe but surely they don't accept images of anything and everything and the images accepted are reasonably quite good. Anyone who has experience with multiple stock agencies, would know that an image with zero sales in a site, can be the best seller in other site. But each to his own...
But thats why you can deselect the images that you don't want in the free section.
I deselected lots of images. Not just the ones that are selling well on other sites, but also the ones that I felt were too good to give away for the price offered.

...
My files are still nominated. The problem is that the pages of the entire batch are not sorted by a certain criteria,  each time the images are in different order and some images show up twice on different pages. Last nigh I double-checked all nominated ones and this morning I've found some bestsellers (also on other agencies) that escaped my vigilance and were still nominated.
I'll wait up and see what happens, I just hope not to give away some bestseller, by mistake.

Thanks for your help Mat.
I think that if you sort by Date, instead of by Downloads, it will keep the order through the pages.

I looked at all my sales from this year on Adobe to get some numbers to make sure I am not actually imagining things when I say that, in opposite to other agencies, new content does not sell on Adobe for me:
I  had 1084 sales in 2021 so far. Only 8 (!) downloads were of images I submitted in 2021, so 0,74%.
My port has around 5700 images. Around 1200 were added in 2021, so 21% new images this year.

Yeah, I am pretty sure I am not imagining things. :-\ And since this is an Adobe-only phenomenon I am quite sure it's not because I suddenly started submitting crappier or less useful images.
You just trigged me to check sales of new files in my port, because I also felt that new files don't sell.

The result is, to my surprise, that 6% of my sales in 2021 are from files uploaded in 2021.
And only 5% of my files are uploaded in 2021.

That's interesting, so a total different experience from mine. May I ask how many total downloads you had in 2020? Because if the number is very different, these two cases might not be so easily comparable.
The numbers are different.
My port size is smaller than yours, and sales in 2021 also smaller.
But number of sales from files uploaded in 2021 is higher than yours.

I think SS is rewarding contributors in search after upload rate.
The more uploads in a period, the higher ranking.

This could be the reason and a plausible guess.
Do we know a concrete proof, not just for ss but also for other stock companies?
The reason for my guess is that SS already showed that it's the present number of downloads that gets rewarded, when they introduced the new earnings structure.
So I guess that they also want to reward contributors with high upload activity, and one way could be to rank them higher in search.

49
I made 78% less on SS in april 2021 than april 2020.
And 30% more on Adobe in april 2021 than april 2020.

50
Maybe it's because a lot of people look at his portfolio?

I looked at it too, and also find it strange that for example a photo of a camel on his last page, when sorted after popularity, show up as number one when I search for camel at SS.
