Canva / Re: How are the earnings going?
« on: January 19, 2019, 03:30 »
My earnings have halved over recent months, it seems that all $3.50 sales have disappeared - since their deal with iStock/Getty started. Number of sales have remained fairly static, but value dropped

Anyone else in payment limbo with these guys?  It's been 6 months and counting for me.  After I get my final payment I'm out of there.

It took me threatening legal action before they paid me

General Stock Discussion / Re: Alamy "good news"!
« on: December 04, 2018, 09:31 »
Since cutting rates to 50% they have seen revenue growth, therefore cut rates again and see further revenue growth. Shame they are a private company, it would be good to see their profits and projections during these time periods.

Looking at current revenue, this will generate them approximately 3m pa pre-tax. No mention of marketing spend increasing, so how are they going to increase revenue? Cross their fingers? Hope that revenue magically increases because they have cut commission rates? Profits will - if they don't spend any of the additional 3m, but contributors profits won't!

They place themselves in their own designated Tier 2, well below Tier 1 agencies, this move will not put them any closer to the Tier 1 they have specified themselves, it is purely a money grab. The big difference, as we all know, is that the Tier 1 agencies provide the volume, Alamy do not, and an additional 3m on their bottom line will not provide the necessary volume either. Another agency which says they are confident this will result in an increase in sales for contributors, whilst asking those same contributors to bend over and take it with a smile on their faces, and bear with them through this hard and trying time - of four consecutive years of growth?

Alamy, for me, is at best a low earner - circa $1000 this year, now if sales levels remain static, that will be circa $800 whilst I continue to upload and increase the size of my library with them? Whilst their library gets bigger overall, giving me a smaller slice of the pie I helped to make?

Thanks Alamy.

From a ten year contributor. Nice to know you have my back.

This is ONLY for editorial photographers? As per first line in article?

It took me years to reach payout, after requesting $57 (I think it was) it then took them 5 months to pay me - after I eventually threatened legal action! Immediately closed my account after payout.

Good to see management from an agency coming on site to communicate and provide information

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Property release for a plane??
« on: October 11, 2018, 23:35 »
Is a plane design treated any differently to a car? Even if you take the logo off a car image it will still be rejected, will the same not apply to a plane, boat, motorbike?

Took me five months to receive my $57, closed my account as soon I received it, they must be losing contributors hand over fist with this behaviour

A question for Mat or anyone that knows...

I received the code, thanks.

But I am still using LR 5.7.1 and PS Elements 12, because I don't like subscriptions and the cloud...
I like to buy a perpetual licence and use it as long as possible.

Should I decide to try it just because it's free, can I install it alongside the current perpetual versions? (in Windows 7 Pro 64 bit)

Absolutely, yes you can. I have PS CC installed and used daily and I also have PS CS6 installed in background, same OS as you

IIRC, in the past contributors have still been paid for these free promotional download offers

Why not leave old threads to continue sleeping

Why? Not up to you is it Barry?

38
Why not offer them the image it perpetuity? Copyright and everything? $10,000

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock not processing payout request
« on: July 21, 2018, 09:47 »
After not getting a payout for 4 years, I finally hit $90. I requested payout over 35 days ago and Crestock has refused to process payout. This is the response they keep sending:

"Sorry about the delayed response to this. There are delays to our payment schedule at the moment; I will update you when I have more information on when your payment will be processed".

Thanks,
Gudmund

What the heck??? Has anyone else had this happen from this low earning site???

Exactly the same situation! Requested payout of $57 end of April, still waiting, still chasing, same response as you, when they respond. They seriously haven't got the money to payout?

Received this email also, not clear on few points though so if Mat Heyward could provide some answers it would be good - sorry to hijack thread;

What happens if you already have a PS CC sub plan in place?
Will the redeemable code allow us to cancel our current paid for annual sub without the penalty of 50% of the outstanding time on the plan?
If you upload images to Fotolia to be mirrored in AS, not through Adobe Stock, does that still qualify?

I have a chum who has looked into this as he wants to start getting commercial work (adding value to his wedding photography. He told me (so this is second hand) that there is a qualification you need to get before you can start any commercial work. (This is in the UK). Hope that helps.

Correct, costs anything from 900 - 1200 for a three day course. There is not a requirement for a license per se, but there is a requirement for commercial drone operators to show their competence via this qualification

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock sold Webdam for $49.1 million
« on: February 27, 2018, 16:58 »
For completeness' sake, here's a link to the earning's call transcript:

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4150291-shutterstocks-sstk-ceo-jonathan-oringer-q4-2017-results-earnings-call-transcript

Regarding Webdam, Jon effectively says that they thought it would help them get the enterprise customer, but it turned out it was a separate business, so they sold it. They disclosed that they paid $14.4m for Webdam in 2014

Enterprise (as a portion of total SS business) grew 26% over 2016 and now represents 34% of SS's total business. Ecommerce revenue (the subs and web-site-available packages part of the business) grew 10% - i.e. less quickly than the Enterprise business.

But the ecommerce part of the business accounts for much larger than enterprise so any % increases, whilst smaller, will account for a much larger $ figure

They will make an announcement ONCE all the changes have been introduced - so they will tell us after we have already found out, good of them. I was regularly earning $200-$300 a month with them until about 18 months ago, now lucky to hit $75, and now they have cut levels again. Gone from level 5 at 50% to probably level 2 now on what, 30%?

I got answer, this is some kind of error 500px payout system. Cents are changed for dollars or something like that.

I agree, decimal point in wrong place

Got to be mistake hasn't it? I got several too, well into the 000's. Just adding the ones on here together, without the ones for people who don't post on here, it isi tens of 000's.

Can't be right.

Yep, I got overpayment email last week putting my account into negative. I noticed they overpaid me for last month so was expecting it.

I have portfolio of over 12k images there and regularly received over $400 per month until a year or so ago, now lucky to get $50 - $75. Got an EL a week ago and no sales since - and I do mean NO sales since.
