Yes, export it as a .csv file (when you are looking @ your earnings), and you can see those details.

Ah thank you. It would be great to have some instructions on how to do that. I don't really see much in the way of earnings information on the AS contributor page. If I click on my current earnings amount on the top right of the screen, I'm led to a page featuring sold files with ID, type, upload date and earnings. But I can't see any export options there.

Go to your Insights tab (My Statistics), change data type from Top Sellers to Activity. Adjust your date range and click Display Statistics. Click on Export as CSV in top right.

Thanks for the instructions. It's a pity that we can only push the date back so far. I would have liked to see the earlier video sales. Regardless, I managed to download the CSV file. There's a few video sales in there. Most of them are HD video sales simply because those particular videos were uploaded in HD from older cameras. There is one 4k video sale (and it looks like it was downloaded at 4k resolution.) I got $4.20 for that one (subscription sale.) Not happy.

If I switch to uploading HD videos to AS in the future and continue to upload 4k clips to P5, I just hope that buyers would go to P5 to buy the 4k clips. Then again, if buyers have a subscription with AS, I guess they might stick with AS and buy a 4k clip of the same subject from another contributor (if I only have HD versions available.)

Looks like I'm safe for now. I don't see this program in the licensing options in my account page. I didn't get the e-mail either. I hope I can stay out of it for good (wishful thinking on my part.)
Anyone who has been accepted can deactivate this offer in their account.

Yea. For now. But we don't know if the 'opt out' option will be removed in the future.

Adobe Stock / Finding out the resolution of our video sales
« on: April 21, 2025, 18:49 »
It is possible to find out what resolution our videos are being sold at (from the individual sales)? Unfortunately, these days, I usually get around $4 or $5 for my 4k videos. So I'm curious if they're being sold at HD or 4k resolution. This may influence my decision as to whether I should continue to upload 4k videos to AS.

I know it's still possible to get good earnings from 4k video sales on AS these days but those instances are super rare and it's never happened to me.

It's also a pain and a massive hassle for me to upload 4k videos to AS. By contrast, I can usually upload 4k videos to P5 without too much trouble.

Going forward, it's a possibility that I may be uploading HD videos to AS instead of 4k.

Thank you all.....I didn't expect to get so many replies!

Well done! Dont keep us all in suspense - lets see it!

The image itself is not currently online.....however.....for the past few years, the winning entries of the previous exhibitions have been displayed online by the organisers. So hopefully, the 2025 winning entries will be uploaded soon.

Off Topic / I had some success at an art exhibition
« on: April 20, 2025, 18:34 »
The 2025 East Art Exhibition has recently opened on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. This is the largest art event on the island. I won First Prize ($1000) in the Photography category. For my one and only entry, I did things the old fashioned way by shooting on medium format film with a twin lens reflex camera that was designed in the 1950s.

By coincidence, my photograph that won Second Prize in the 2008 East Art Exhibition was also shot on medium format film as well (but with a different camera.) Both prints are fairly large (close to 60cm on the long side for the 2008 exhibition and 60 x 60cm for the current exhibition.) I also managed to receive a Highly Commended for a 3D anaglyph image (shot on 35mm film) at the 2010 East Art Exhibition.

Alamy.com / Is Alamy accepting video again?
« on: March 07, 2025, 19:20 »
I wonder if Alamy are accepting video again. I'm currently about to sign in on their site and I see some video footage being displayed (something Ive never seen before on their start up page.) And there is some text that says: "License your photos, illustrations and videos to the world's leading brands."

same sh*t here ... zero downloads in 10 days ... before Shitterstock i was at 350-400usd a month ..
let's thank Shitterstock for the great destructive work done on pond5 ... >:(

what i wonder is where those sales have gone.  my hunch is demand for stock video isn't down, it's just the sales volume on pond5 appears almost gone.  the only place i sell video reasonably well is adobe even if the revenue is low.

If that's the case, I wonder where the editorial video sales have gone.

Ive never had big high value photo sales on Adobe. A few times, Ive had some of these on the other agencies like around $20 or $30 etc. I did get a $2.59 photo sale on AS recently.

In the past, Ive had videos sell on AS for over $20. Though these days, videos usually sell for around $4 or $5 on AS.

A few of my best sellers were removed as "non-compliant" for use of AI.  I don't use AI.  I never have.

Terrible stuff and totally unfair. I hope you can appeal.

I had this email too.

It seems to have binned 15 out of 20 of my last upload batch and nothing else at all.  No idea what criteria they used there.  Seems very random.
These were real images not AI (aerial shots of tropical rainforest).

I was expecting to be Ai, because there are more easy to replicate than real images

It's just as easy to produce a similar or nearly identical looking photograph. Simply shoot the same subject twice or more with the same composition. If the camera's mounted to a tripod, the resulting images are going to look the same. Or alternatively - create another copy of a photo file on the computer (Save as) and there you have a duplicate.

I did not receive this e-mail. Regardless, I still looked at my 'non accepted' files and didn't notice any extras in there. Don't recall seeing any 'similar' rejections.

I don't know why so many people are convinced that this must be related to AI imaging. There's no mention of AI in the e-mail text in the opening post.

OK after more digging ive found a possible cause and its moronic.
They SEEM now to split base form verbs.
Enter "Ski" and it goes in. Then enter "Skiing" and its rejected for an invalid keyword.
Same for run/running, walk/walking.

Very interesting. With the first editorial video that I submitted under the new system, they accepted 'shops' as a keyword but would not accept 'shopping.' However, they did accept 'shopping center.'

There's another weird thing that happens after my videos have been reviewed and approved. Ive gone back to a few of these latest videos and added some extra keywords and then clicked 'save.' Then I receive a confirmation that the changes have been saved. After that, I try to exit and a message comes up that says: "Unsaved changes. Are you sure you want to leave? Your changes will be lost when you leave." I exit anyway and return to the same videos and note that the changes have indeed been saved. I also get the same message if I enter the edit mode of a video and make no changes and try to exit. Very buggy.

I'm still trying to decide whether the underwater stuff should be commercial or editorial

That depends on the subject matter. Usually, it takes me about one second to decide if a clip or photo needs to be commercial or editorial.

Can anyone advise how to use the new version successfully?

I tried the new uploader recently and I found it was frustrating as hell. I was really losing patience as my metadata and categories kept disappearing. And 'editorial' kept changing back to 'commercial' by itself for editorial imagery. I almost lost count of how many times I had to copy and paste the same things again and again. I was swearing like a sailor.

I noted that often, the metadata would vanish when I tried to save. And putting anything in the location field causes issues as well. So for the next few files, I did not save at all and kept the location blank. And it worked. I had no further issues. No more disappearing metadata.

Thanks, good to know I'm not alone! What's your browser?

Google Chrome.

Pond5 / Can't save changes to metadata
« on: February 25, 2025, 19:38 »
I'm trying to add another keyword to one of my approved videos on P5 and for some reason, I can't save changes. After adding the extra keyword, I click on the yellow Save Changes button at the bottom and the page suddenly jumps back up to where the keywords are. Exactly the same thing happens each time I try and save. If I exit out of the metadata edit page and return to it, I see that the new keyword has not been added. I don't suppose anyone knows how to rectify this?

45
I remember in the days when SS had active forums, there were occasions when thieves would post on those forums! They would ask for advice or report issues they were experiencing. And it was clear that their ports that were filled with stolen content. I can't believe the nerve of those guys. Absolutely no shame.

46
If I recall correctly it was sometime during the last year that P5 added the Editorial check box for us to mark along with the Editorial caption requirement.   I'd suspect that change in their s/w is a little buggy when it comes to dealing with a clip being moved into the account manually and may not be carrying over an Editorial marking.

Ah interesting theory. I guess that is a possibility.

The good news is that this news related footage has been changed back to editorial. So all good now.

47
Making it Editorial is done when Editing a new clip to add title, desc, tags, etc. and also checking the Editorial box.

Yep, I certainly did check the Editorial box. I just assumed that it would remain editorial when it's transferred between accounts.

I'm guessing when your clip was moved to your other account the default was applied just like a newly uploaded clip. So it was not likely an intentional change or nefarious action by P5.

Ive just checked my other editorial videos that were moved from my non exclusive account to my exclusive account well over a year ago. They all remained editorial. So yea - none of those clips were changed to commercial.

The odd thing about this latest clip is that when I go into edit mode, it indicates that it's editorial. Though when I search for it like a client does and click on it, it says that it's for commercial usage.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Batch in Istock submission
« on: January 27, 2025, 21:58 »
With Deepmeta, you can submit photos from different unrelated shoots together in one batch. Just make sure that they are all commercial or all editorial. You cannot mix together commercial and editorial images within the same batch with Deepmeta.

49
In this instance it could of just been an oversight by the reviewer as they probably make mistakes on occasion.

The reviewer would have accepted it as editorial initially when it was first submitted. The change from editorial to commercial seems to have taken place when the video was transferred from my non exclusive account to my exclusive account.

50
Quite an alarming thing occurred on P5 recently. I submitted a news related video which features large numbers of people and a marine vessel as editorial. I then asked P5 Support to transfer the video from my non exclusive account to my exclusive account. When I checked, I saw that the transfer was complete but I also noticed that the video had also been changed from editorial to commercial for some strange reason. This is really puzzling considering the number of recognisable people in the footage. And the design of the vessel may be protected by copyright as well. There are also flags on the vessel as well featuring graphic elements (which could present potential issues.)

I contacted P5 and asked them to change the video back to editorial.

Has this occurred to anyone else - P5 changing an editorial video to commercial without your consent or knowledge?
